A top notch BBQ joint in the most competitive market place has managed to stand out and thrive in Kansas City by producing a quality product in a unique atmosphere. I enjoyed a big beef sandwich with beans and fries very much and my friends had beef and ham. Easy to find with plenty of free parking. Everything was excellent especially the folks who own and operate this great restaurant. Very helpful, friendly and informative. Thank you for serving up a great meal in a fun environment, I will be back soon to try your burnt end chili, it sounds great! Jeannette and I brought a friend here for lunch yesterday and she shared some of the chili with us and it was also excellent.

Tried their ribs and snuck in a little burnt ends by having their chili on the side. My other side was their cheesy corn. The burnt ends were good and moist. Having them bathing in chili probably helped. The solid pieces on top of the chili were good. The pieces mixed into the chili made the mixture thick. Lots of beans made this some food chili. Not sure why it made the bucket list of things to eat before you die. I’m glad I had it, but it didn’t change my life. The ribs on the other hand… maybe not life-changing either, but very good. Their spice rub was exotic. Not your usual fare. Something maybe Indian was in there, Tumeric or something. It gave the ribs a distinct and unique flavor. Definitely setting them apart from all the other BBQ in town. The cheesy corn was cheesy corn. I’m not sure what I’m missing about this side dish. Everywhere I’ve tried it, it all been about the same. It’s corn in a sauce that’s kind of cheesy, but not sharp or anything. Just kind of plain. If you like cheesy corn, this will meet your expectations.

This roadside type barbecue spot gives the look of a rustic vibe but don't let that fool you when it comes to the Q. You can eat inside or outside in one of their patios. Everyone knows you're typical famous barbecues but this unsung spot is up on their tier!

We had seen them on tv and they did not disappoint! The burnt ends are sooo good. They were in the hot sauce tonight but it wasn’t spicy. My husband had the ribs and my 9 month old chewed and loved a rib also! You order in a little building then you can sit in a covered spot outside or walk up the ramp to a building the tables and ac. It was a cute spot!

What a fun little haunt! In the big KC there are BBQ places everywhere. This was my first visit here. Feels like an Ozark mountain town. Quaint decor, outdoor or indoor seating with a fine brick patio from local Kansas and Missouri brick companies of the past. Lots of historical touches. Good food. Friendly folk

Woodyard BBQ was great as always. $20 rack of baby back was delicious. Only sad part was the brisket is usually the best in my opinion in KC, but on sat. Wasn't up to their usual. Chili style baked beans were good. Service was very nice!

The BBQ is great. I had the brisket and pork sandwich combo with fries. The cornbread muffins are fantastic. My big issue is the parking lot and the restaurant layout. Woodyard BBQ should really consider a better location with a better layout if they want more business.

I love this place! The fact I can sit outside & enjoy delicious bbq at a reasonable price & buy wood for my smoker is heaven! The staff is always friendly & I've been going since 2019 & never had a bad experience! Enjoy this hidden gem! It's great! Plus! They have an area for your dog!

The burnt end chili was VERY good. Mix of fatty and lean burnt ends. I loved their barbecue sauce too. The hot one was actually spicy. The ribs on its own doesn’t compare / I wish they cooked it a bit less. Marcus who took my order was extremely kind!! A very homey place, would come back.

Really cool Bar-b-que place. It’s neat seeing the wood yard. Gotta have plenty of wood for smoking. It smells amazing as soon as you get out of the car. Order your food on the left side entrance. Then sit across at right side entrance. Great wood house ambiance. Get the smoked wings, they nailed it!!! You can’t go wrong with anything you get. Everything is smoked to perfection. Also grab a jalapeño cheddar muffin! Not sure why it was empty for the hour we were there, it should have been line out the door. I’ve never had brisket sliced so thin almost shaved, but flavor was great. And the ribs fall off the bone.

I tried Woodyard bbq for the first time yesterday. I have lived less than a mile from this place for 1.5 years, and I have been meaning to try it. I ordered a pound of brisket and their pint of Mac and cheese to try out the basics. The brisket was great! Not too greasy and very moist, and I love how thin they sliced it. It was ready quick, and I also liked their bbq sauce. Mac and cheese presentation wise looked questionable but taste wise was sooo good! I have never had Mac and cheese with bowtie pasta before but it was so good! Prices were reasonable as well. When I get bbq from slaps or q39 I often get a migraine but I didn’t get a migraine from Woodyard so it seems like good quality ingredients. We will definitely be back!

The burnt ends at this place is terrible. I told the people when I ordered to make it lean as possible, less fat. When I received my order fat was everywhere. And they put a lot of nasty sauce on it to hide the meat texture which made it extremely salty. I couldn't finish the meal, it was that horrible. I cannot speak to the rest of the food that's being sold at this particular place, I can only speak about what I ordered and received. It was the worst burnt ends in the country.

We were more than excited to come to a triple D location. Our food was meh..cold... poor quality and not worth an extra drive and 80$. Meat was all cold and the brisket had no smoke flavor at all. Very sad.

Dinner on Friday evening! I ordered their ribs and pulled pork with their beans for my side. My husband ordered the burnt end sandwich with fries and we added a couple cornbread muffins. Everything was AMAZING! Can't wait to go back this summer and enjoy their patio and dog area in the back!

Good ribs and brisket, but there are other bbq joints that I like better. The sauce had a little too much vinegar for my tastes. I don't want people to think that their food isn't good, because the ribs and brisket were moist, tender and well smoked. It's just a matter of personal taste. I really liked the laid back dining area that consisted of picnic tables. The service was excellent. They were friendly and helpful.

The food was amazing, I absolutely loved the burnt ends and the brisket was really good. I ended up getting a 2 meat sandwich that I 3/4 pulled apart and ate separately. Mine had brisket and burnt ends, I got a side of coleslaw and a single spare rib. The rib on the rib was a bit thick for me, but when paired with some sauce it was good. The actual meat on the rib was amazing. The side of slaw was nice, juicy and tasty. It had a pretty standard flavor with a bit of pepper for bite. The guys I went with enjoyed their sandwichs, one had the 3 P's, and another had a single meat sandwich.

We visited Woodyard last Friday night to attend a concert featuring local bands.  We arrived in line to order food around 7PM.  They were very busy and overwhelmed by the demand, but the crew was friendly and helpful.  I feel badly for the staff who had to work in a space without AC. Hopefully that was temporary. It took over an hour to order and receive our food.  They were out of several items. Our food was delivered in to-go containers because they were closing. The sausage was good and pretty standard for KC (7/10).  The burnt ends tasted like sauced chuck roast (2/10).  The baby back ribs were tender with a pleasant smoke level, but needed sauce for depth of flavor (6/10).  Speaking of sauce, I quite liked it.  Not too sweet or vinegary with celery seed & mild peppercorn notes.  The fries reminded me of Freddy's--which I like.  They had a reasonable selection of canned beers. Although the restaurant was closed from 8PM onward, the restaurant doors remained open for access to restrooms (1M and 1F).  During they concert a makeshift bar was setup, offering basic mixed drinks and cans of PBR and Miller Lite.

An often overlooked place in one of the great BBQ destination cities, which has always puzzled me. They are consistently good with any dish that I order, there's always plenty of places to sit and park, and it's easy to find. If you traveled to the city to get a taste of the great barbecue joints, skip one of the ones that are always on the tourism lists and go here instead. You won't be disappointed.

I only come to KC every couple of years. When I do I expect the best BBQ in the country. Did not get it this time. This was locally recommended. 7 of us ate spare ribs, brisket, ham, turkey, burnt ends, chili. Meat was all thin sliced and cold, even when getting a plate meal. Burnt ends were fatty and not tender. Chili was blah. Sides were homemade but not creative. Not one of us was impressed. I had home cooked BBQ baby backs in Manhattan, KS a few days before that was a completely better story. Proving one again that going out to eat is for the unimaginative.

The meats were sliced very very thin. It was like they went and bought deli turkey and roast beef and put it in their smoker overnight. Won't be going back for sure. I can buy deli meat a whole lot cheaper myself. Workers were nice but the food sucked. Definitely not worth $40 for a pound of Roast Beef (Brisket) and a half pound of turkey.

I was there today and had the large brisket sandwich with fries. The fries were very good as was the sandwich. There were too many fries, however. Not every bbq place has the smoke ring around the edges of the brisket. Woodyard definitely does. Thanks again for a wonderful meal.

There's good reason we went back on our way through KC (Kansas side). It's simply one of the best BBQ places in KC or the country for that matter! Guy Fiere/Triple D was there years ago for that reason and they're still rockin it!!

Ordered 2-meat and 1-meat plates. Quantity was great. Meats were tender and hot. Cheesy corn was awesome. Prices in-line with competition. Highly recommend.
