The food here is amazing - packed with flavor. The portions were large and filling. One entree was big enough to share. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the menu and was really informative. Will definitely be coming back here. I ate here once a long time ago and had this delicious pineapple/chicken dish and that’s what brought me back. Adding this to my list of places to visit regularly.

Don’t expect egg rolls and chicken Pad Thai! This place isn’t your ordinary Americanized Thai restaurant. We had Traditional Lanna Experience small plate, red curry and Gai Phad Supparod. The red curry was flavorful and the small plate was fun to try different flavors. Downsides were their menu which was tiny to read and the price was pretty high, but if you like authentic Thai, this is the place to go.

The food was amazing. The service was phenomenal. The drinks were delicious. If you love Thai food this is the place to go. If you have never had Thai food, and want to give it a try, this is the place to do it at!

My favorite place to eat in Kansas City! The best whiskey selection for price and the food is always amazing!

Delicious foods and different flavors than other Thai places in the area. Attentive customer service and family friendly atmosphere. Beware the prices! I spent $50 for dinner, which surprised me, because it’s more than I’ve ever spent at other Thai restaurants!

I was expecting way more. I'm 6' and a little over 300 lbs and my friend is 6'2" about 230 lbs and they sat us at a small 2 top by the bar while other smaller 2 person parties sat at larger 4 top tables. The server was not attentive at all! I would've ordered another drink but he took too long to bring the first one and to refill waters and to take our order. It wasn't busy at all when we were there. He just seemed aloof. My friend and I tried a sampler dinner for 2. I really didn't enjoy most of it and it wasn't cheap. The dish with the pork belly was pretty good. The rest was mediocre at best.

This is not your average, run-of-the-mill pad Thai and potstickers place. The menu here is much more upscale and thus much more interesting. They’ve put a great deal of thought into flavor and texture combinations, so everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The cocktail menu is also impressive. On the recommendation of my dining companion, I tried the Mekong River. It really was as remarkable as she said it would be. I was going to try one of the seasonal drinks with the entree, but they were out of the ingredients for it. Still, it didn’t exactly hurt my feelings to have a second Mekong River. I think I may have caught Waldo Thai on an off day. In addition to the drink issue, the air conditioner in the dining area wasn’t keeping pace with the heat outside. The warmth and the crowd made things a little stifling. And the parking was limited, with most of the nearby spots apparently reserved for the Jimmy John’s next door. But the food, drinks and service were more than worth some minor inconveniences.

Food reminded me of Thailand. Great flavors. It's a Northern Thai cuisine restaurant focused on small plates. Menu is different than other Thai restaurants.

Definitely understand why this place is a James Beard Nominee. The service was fantastic even with the new menu our server Nathan gave us a rundown on the updates. The food was incredible. Will definitely be visiting again.

Everything was super flavorful and the entire experience was elevated - the chef even came out to talk to her guests. I really enjoyed it and for sure will be back! Thank you!!

The staff was so friendly. It was my friend and I first time there and we had several questions and our waiter was helpful on telling us what was good and how small plate Wednesday works. It was also my first time having duck and it definitely was not my last time. For 2 people, we split an entree and appetizer, perfect amount of food for us both. Highly recommend this place.

We sat outside in there small patio area at the beginning I think we were forgotten at first because they were short staffed and busy. But after coming inside to let them know it was amazing service. The food was delicious my sister and I got a couple of dishes to share though it was hard to pick many different items to choose from. Everything we got was amazing in its own unique way. The cocktail I got was also good defiantly coming back next time in mood for Thai.

Loved the chive cakes and the service. Staff were absolutely spot on with every request and giving answers to our questions. Cocktails were above. Enjoyed the Mekong, Horsefeather and other delicious drinks that were expertly made. Thanks to Waldo Thai for a super fun birthday! Cheers!

We had the pleasure of attending the 2022 Holiday Pop Up! It was incredible! We sampled several of the drinks and all of the entrées that were offered. The appetizer, Ricotta & Candied Tomato Chili Jam, was a great balance of creamy, sweet, and spicy. The Kabocha Salad was good and refreshing but could have used a little more dressing. The Roasted Lemongrass Chicken Thigh was absolutely incredible - moist and delicious chicken and the pork sausage stuffing it was paired with was fantastic. That sauce was to die for! The Sticky Pork Belly was perfect - if anyone knows how to make pork belly it’s Waldo Thai. Loved the spicy cranberry namjim it was served with. It was really, really, spicy but so good!!! The Crispy Shallot Coated Shrimp was perfectly cooked - the shrimp was large, succulent, and delicious. It was served on top of a green bean casserole for a fun Thai holiday fusion. The Braised Beef Short Ribs were nothing short of divine -perfectly tender with that all-day cooked flavor that ribs require. They were paired with an excellent sweet potato. We also sampled six of the special cocktails that were offered including the Holiday Whobee Whatee, Holy Spirits, and Nutcracker Fashioned. And then for dessert we had the Grandma Kisses, Bah Rumbug, and Yule Shoot Yer Eye Out. Chef Pam Liberda stopped by the table and chatted for a few minutes about the menu. All of the staff were decked out in festive and fun Christmas suits, holiday sweaters, and reindeer costumes and there was a Hallmark Christmas movie on TV. They nailed the homey and fun Christmas vibe. Overall the holiday pop up was absolutely amazing - we’re looking forward to returning to Waldo Thai hungry (and thirsty) for more.

We had the pleasure of having dinner with our favorite people in the working world. My guy Eric has a saying that has rubbed off on us over time. " We trust you with our mouth" We did just that at Waldo Thai. And while I have been coming here for years I have never asked Executive chef James Chang to pick what he feels is best for drinks and food. Think drinks with fish sauce and muscle pancakes. I have truly never experienced food like this man makes and that is coming from someone that is not normally a fan of seafood. My goodness is this the only place anyone should ever eat Thai in metro. Take a minute to ask the staff what they think is best. Understanding the culture and background to the food is important and it will help you experience it evermore. While your at it check out James page and order some of his bomb products.

Best Thai food around. People come from across the world to ear here. Beautiful authentic decor. Very nice place. Great drinks, and the absolute best Thai food. They have many delicious options, and many of their offerings are locally sourced and farm raised. The service is impeccable, and their attire is fitting. Please eat at Waldo Thai because it is a treasure right here in KC

That was one of the best meals of my life. Can't believe it took me this long to try this place out. Just unbelievably well crafted food, and lots of it. Not cheap, but cheap isn't how you get one of the best meals of your life. Everything was amazing, but that lamb and potato curry set a new bar for how perfectly a dish can be conceived and executed. I'm still afterglowing.

Cozy place, Great tasting food, great service. To start, we had the Pla Meuk Ga Ta (Calimari) I rated that appetizer a 5/5. Also the Khao Tod Nam Sod ( Crispy rice with lettuce) was interesting and rated a (3). My main dish was Phad Kee Mow Nua ( Noodles with veggies and steak) which was very tasty and authentic. (5) The house tea was enjoyable with a slight vanilla aftertaste (5). All in all the food was very good and authentic. My only 2 negatives were difficult parking and high price of dining. If you want to get away to a different part of the world in your own city, this would be the place.

Amazing cocktails, I will be going in for just a drink at some time in the future. Unfortunately I can’t remember the names of the dishes we got but everything was top notch. This is elevated dining for sure. Next time I go I’m going to dress a little nicer…. Also the service was amazing. Don’t go to Waldo Thai if you want the usual pad Thai. Go and try something new. I promise it will be delicious.

Make sure to roughly know what to expect about your order. A waiter brought me the wrong type of spring roll, fortunately, another waitress who took my order caught the wrong order and fixed it. The food is good.

In town for Turkey Day and my brother took me to Waldo for dinner on Wednesday. We went Wednesday because this place has a 'small plates' special running. With reservation we were prompty seated by attentive staff, drinks quickly followed and we went through 4 small plates between us. Staff was attentitive going forward and orders timeley arrived. Ambience was lovely. Everything I sampled was exquisitely tasty. Not a bad plate among them, though if I had to pick I would point toward the Sakoo Sai Moo or Kow Moo Grob as my favorites.

Food was very tasty but not spicy at all. We got traditionally spicy dishes and my Sriracha at home was spicier than the dishes. I overheard another table ask the server if the Tiger Cry Beef was blow your face off hot, he said it was a medium heat. Definitely ask for spicy if you go here and want spicy. That said, their food is very delicious and flavorful. It was just lacking any heat.

Make Reservations. Had the Khao Tod Nam Sod, Giaw Neung, Khan Toke Lek and Phad Kee Mow Nua. I thought the dumpings, the pork belly and pahd kee mow nua were really good. They rest was good but to me these stood out. We sat at the bar, because we didn't have reservations. The bartender, who took our order, did a good job of describing the menu, but he never refilled our drinks. The restroom was different. I had to go back out and look again, to be sure i was in the correct place.
