The neon light themed restaurant is such a great place to be for having a healthy vegetarian food in Thamel. Their foods are also substantial in amount and very delicious with a vegan option. If you are a vegetarian or looking for some great vegetarian options, you should definitely not miss it. P.S. I just found out that they don't serve you a glass of normal drinking water more than once.

The seating arrangements are to be seated without shoes. There are mostly floor seating with some on tables. The staffs are present nearby whenever you need assistance. There are variety of dishes mostly middle eastern . The food were great, but for some it might be a bit pricey.

The food was delicious and the juice was tasty but a bit warm (maybe we should have asked for ice, so not big deal). We ordered water and they still serve bottled water, perhaps more sustainable options could be considered. Overall, we were happy with the food, service and they accept international cards which is awesome.

Lots of vegan options clearly marked on the menu. Good food, nice chill vibe. Most of the seating is on floor cushions and low tables. The menu is all hand written and beautifully illustrated.

Its a heaven place for vegetarian lovers...just loved the foods...service was fast and waiters were a real gentleman...visited here on this eve of new year...place was a bit crowded but got our seats managed...

To be clear, it is not a vegan restaurant. You can find vegetarian dishes here. You need to take off shoes and sit on the floor because there are low tables. The prices cannot be considered decent. You have to pay 10% service charge. The lighting and interior of this place make it look more like a bar and less like a restaurant. If you like drinking, then it might be the place for you.

Very cool laid-back atmosphere. The food was very good. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Food is all vegetarian and many options for Vegans. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu.

I came to this place 5 times in one week while I was in Thamel. If that’s any indication of how good the food was! I love dhal bat as much as the next person, but there’s only so many lentils I can eat, and this Israeli restaurant was the perfect interlude from Nepali cuisine.

I would have rated 4 star but however my today’s experience spoilt my experience for this place. I had asked for 2 cheese cake for takeaway around 3 in the afternoon and specifically asked if it was fresh. The guy at the reception mentioned it was fresh and I brought it home. To my dismay, the cream was spoilt. I called the restaurant mentioning this issue and the guy at the other end says it was 3 days old. Then why was I given this cake and why did the guy at the reception lie? Very disappointed. Not buying from this place again.

Good food , nice seating , clean spot only thing they still serve water in plastic bottles and left over food in non - organic take away containers and blue plastic bags . Guys try to find a greener solution please and maybe filter your water and serve it in jugs instead of selling plastic bottles .

If you are a fan of Mediterranean food, this place is much recommended for you to visit at least once. Again it's not only a place to dine in but a place for chilling out with a group of people, meet and greet, and enjoy the lake view! Amazing experience from my visit to them! I have met a little girl and her family over there... Spent a very good time chitchatting and the late afternoon view of Phewa Lake 🥹

For vege lovers, this is a good place. But don't expect a lot of Nepali food. It's mostly middle Eastern, far Eastern styled food. But the place is excellent. Lively and nice. Not very expensive.

I think the rating of this place really depands on what you came for - we came on the Deshain holiday evening, just to drink something and have a snack. The food was ok (we took the bigger combo for the 2 of us), nothing to write home about, but not bad. However, we really enjoyed to sit there with our hot drinks, and we also liked their version of hello to the queen. So overall - great place to come and chill, especially if it rains :) not a must culinary experience.

Service is terrible (waited 45 minutes to order food, drinks came after we had finished eating) food is average, atmosphere is nice though. There's plenty of better places to eat, don't follow the hype.....

This is the 3rd time I’ve been at OR2K so far and every meal has been great. I’ve ordered an OR2K Buddha bowl in the past (the one with Falafel on the side) and wanted to order the same one tonight, but I got the other one which wasn’t as great. The side was supposed to be “yakitori skewers” and because of that, I had very different expectations of what I would be getting as a side in terms of ingredients, but especially of quantities (as you can see from the pic, the skewers are really tiny). Having said that, it was my fault to switch the names of the only two dishes with women’s names (Julia and Alice). Just wanted to suggest being careful about calling the dish by its name as shown on the menu! 😅

Food was okay-ish. The organic salad i bought was just some leaves and some little goat cheese. It was good but too expensive for it. Otherwise, the ambience is really nice. And i love the fact that you can sit on the floor. Maybe next time i will feel better there.

Nice place to be in thamel. As all the reviews say...best pizza in Nepal! Everything I’ve had there has been delicious. And to top it all off, the staff is also amazing! Would recommend that anyone in Thamel eats here at least once. The staffs always welcomed us with they clearly loves their restaurant and goes out of their way to make sure every guest feels welcomed! I spoke to plenty of visitors when here and hearing that they feel like their back home saying something about the quality/authenticity of the food!

Quasi-Veg Restuarant that only offers regular milk with coffee drinks and white sugar (washed with animal bones) or refined honey as sweetener. Overpriced menu. Seems a bit hyped, not matching the price with actual high quality that is fully vegan and vegetarian with good taste. Atmosphere is nice, but when I sat down there was a dead cockroach next to where I was sitting on the couch, and I had to ask the waiter to remove it. Biggest plus is that it is quiet and relatively relaxing to work in unless families with babies come (which one did when I was there)

Went here for a dinner, was beautiful Really cool setting with on floor seating, UV lights, cool artwork on the walls, candles etc. I had the OR2K platter which was delicious and actually alot of food! Only thing that let the evening down was our friend was waiting until everyone had finished for her dinner.

It is a really nice and cozy place where to eat or just drink something. The place is located on the first floor of a building and when you enter it is mandatory to take off your shoes and therefore you feel right at home. Recommended place but certainly touristy especially for the higher prices compared to the Nepalese average.

The most non-vegan friendly restaurant ever. 1. Promised vegan egg in a shakshuka, but really give you chickpea. 2. Mark endless NON-VEGAN dishes as vegan! I needed to investigate the waiter to find out which is REALY vegan and which will have animal products. 3. According to them all the non vegan dishes “can be vegan”. How? By removing ingredients from the dishes and leaving you with less foods and vitality. But no worries, you will still pay the same price! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Ah, and they will even charge you for the water. Amazing. We got up and left.

This is by far the best restaurant in Thamel! Perfectly located in Mandala Street, it offers a great variety of food (especially vegetarian/vegan-friendly food), tasty drinks and amazing desserts in a very chill and cozy atmosphere. I can definitely recommend trying the falafel (the best I've ever had to this date!!) as well as the combo platter! :) For dessert, take the Zuri Cake or the Chocolate Balls, they are so good!!

Visited 2 times during our stay in Kathmandu. The food is nice, as good as it should be but nothing crazy. Staff is polite. But the service is EXTREMELY SLOW. We waited 40 minutes for 2 pancakes and 50 minutes for a burger. First time we were alone, there were no more customers so we didn’t understand why it was taking so long, we had to approach them and ask what was going on and found 5 staff sitting and playing games. Second time we almost missed the flight, even tho we came with almost 2 hours to spare just in case.

My favorite restaurant in Kathmandu. No, it’s not Nepali food but I spend weeks trekking and eating Dal Baht, it’s nice to eat something different before and after the trek. Delicious and interesting salads, wine, bread and much more.

Amazing little vegetarian spot tucked up above the busy streets in Thamel. The vibe is very laid back and you’re immediately taken out of the ordinary as you come in, take of your shoes, and sit on the floor to enjoy a meal with friends. We shared a platter featuring hummus, yoghurt, baba ghanoush, and pita as well as the four cheese panini. Both were fantastic. We are very glad we found this place and we will definitely be back! Solid 5 stars- thanks OR2K!

Average food, flooded with hippies. What,s supposed to be naan, is just a frozen chapati cooked as a tandoori roti. Shakshouka with overcooked eggs. Coffee BEFORE food. As a middle east resident, can't say the food is reflecting the rating. However, people are very welcoming, atmosphere is nice. Btw you have to remove your shoes in order to relax on floor sofas. Can't recommend, but can't say it's bad.

Don't follow the hype clearly ! Food isn't that good and price are not decent for Nepal. 10% service fee, seriously ? And not written anywhere. Ambiance is the only cool thing.

It's my hands down favorite restaurant in Kathmandu. Every time we arrive we order the Combo Plate. It's delicious mix of food and, to be honest, it's too much for a single person. But the food is so tasty that you can't stop. What's even more amazing is the atmosphere and vibes of this place. Sitting barefoot on a pillow on the floor and talking with friends or someone you just met here, all with a great ambient music... Amazing experience!

My favourite restaurant and place to rest in Nepal. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. Quick service, very nice staff, clean toilets. I love sitting on the cushions and enjoying a coffee or a full Middle Eastern meal. If you are coming to Thamel, this is your food stop.

Stumbled across this place online while looking for interesting restaurants, in Thamel, Kathmandu. The menu seemed intriguing and for me, a vegetarian, the thought that it's a fully vegetarian restaurant was very exciting. We found the place very easily; we had been passing the building several times without being aware of Or2k. Perhaps they need to work on their signage to make it more visible? We walked up the two flights of stairs eagerly, and after taking our footwear off at the entrance, we're seated facing the open windows. Mid day sun streamed in and The prettiness of the place struck us, the long curtains, the huge comfy cushions around us, the simple chandelier, the painting, and, most impressive of all, the hand drawn menu! Each item had a nice brief explaination, after placing our order we actually spent a good 20 minutes just going through the menu. You'll need more than 2-3 visits to do justice to this place! The pricing is on the higher side, but it's pretty good value for your money. If you look at the pictures, the quantities are generous and everything we ate was very tasty! The Turkish platter - I'd gleefully eat that another 10 times without getting bored! We went by in the evening on another occasion and I enjoyed get cocktails and basically tripped over the way the place looks in the night!!! So quirky and pretty!!! Pop music played, happy voices of the various groups of people added to the ambience! I loved this place :)

All seating is on floor cushions and you have to take your shoes off, so make sure you’re wearing your clean pair of socks 😜 This bright, buzzy and ever-popular Israeli vegetarian restaurant is a favourite for fresh and light Middle Eastern dishes, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. The menu spreads to fatoush salad, zucchini and mushroom pie and ziva (pastry fingers filled with cheese), as well as a great meze sampler of hummus, felafel and labane (sour cream cheese) served in neat little brass bowls.

  • 5/5 Victoria T. 4 years ago on Google
Fun restaurant serving up Israeli food, pizza, salads, vegan, and other veggie food. Beautiful, if not expensive drinks. Very high quality and clean. You need to take of your shoes so just beware. We ate at the Kathmandu and Pokhara branch. Kathmandu had better food, while Pokhara had fabulous views. A definite must try. The Pokhara branch is also great for singles. It has inside and outside with good wifi in the center of town. You could hang out there all day and be comfortable.

You sit on the floor FYI. Middle eastern focused place, the atmosphere was beautiful and washrooms were good. Food was great, their organic salad with goat cheese was crazy good and falafel was on point. Will be coming back before I head home

OR2K has expanded its menu once again as COVID restrictions have lessened . . . so welcome back!! Both vegetarian and vegan options are available as well as a great ambience~the curtains are brilliant colorful saris. The guests who visit are amazing and the conversations even more so. Experience Nepali hospitality along with Middle Eastern and traditional Nepali food!

I tried this dish was good but little spicy for my taste it is a good size for one person and the money is considerable, is a good option to come sometimes, the ambience is interesting though, sitting in the ground is nice.

  • 2/5 Mark E. 1 year ago on Google
Be super careful here! Asked for vegan option and was served cow milk yogurt! Food is very expensive for the quality. Love to give plastic straws with drinks - not environmentally friendly. Very basic food. Not worth the extremely high price tag. Nan was dry and old. Good music selection was the saving grace. Food was cold. Much better vegan spots in Thamel and Kathmandu with much better prices. People smoking cigarettes in stairs right by the entrance.

Not our first time here , we were here about 7 year ago and had really good memories, but!!! This time food tock for ever to come out ! My husband and I did not eat at the same time coz my Buddha bowl didn’t come out for at least 45 min by then my husband had finished his dinner and the mono ( it was supposed to be our first course) came out even latter! The lassi was not cold ! So we were a little sad that our memories of our last experience were …… 🦋

Completely vegetarian restaurant in Thamel (I believe there is one in Pokhara as well) Okay food - I think again, everything lacked a spice flavor, or just tasted too bland for me. The best dish to me was the Mediterranean dip sampler which had an assortment of dips and spreads (hummus, tahini, etc.). The pizza was also pretty decent, again nothing to write home about, but its pizza. I think the biggest negative was the whole sitting on the ground. I would get it if it was comfy, but it really wasn't. I am all about authentic feelings/moments but I don't think you could ever get me to come back here because sitting on that hard ground was not comfy.

Once a nice kitchen !! now a tasteless combo platter without any flavor of the middle east no spice (no garlic, cumin, coriander) anymore but well for an significantly upscale price. The Nan was 7 / 11 quality. To make it complete, you cannot order the small pot tea of the menu but just the full price big one
