Amazing local restaurant that I have been visiting since 2012. This is my go to place for the best naan bread in Thamel! They have delicious veg meals, and other meat foods. The old location use to be very busy but they have recently this year moved to a new much larger location on the same street you won't be disappointed eating here. If you're visiting Thamel for the first time, definitely recommend visiting this place and you want to sample some local food, instead of the regular foreign foods that is everywhere in Thamel. The service here is amazing, they are quick, professional and always attentive to the customers. Prices are very good as well for the portions you get. For the quality of food you buy it is well worth it once you taste it.

One of the things that make this place extra ordinary, is the wonderful family who owns this place. Not only is the food THE BEST in Kathmandu, But the way the family makes effort to its customers - others should come here and study how its done. Amazing sons and daughter !!! Everbody should eat here.

We ate at the restaurant, not sure why it's listed as a hotel only..... Food was good but slow. Bright and large dining area...a little to fast food vine for me, but delicious tandoori

Best restaurant in town,Not fine dining like 5 star . Its clean , Delicious food. One who wants to eat Indian food, must try this.I ate here for more than three months and counting.. I have never felt this food is boring. If you visit Kathmandu try this place for sure. The Paneer butter Masala , Chicken butter masala will amaze you, The Taste is mild spicy 🌶️ , If you want to add more spicy you can tell them. They Serve food in Good environment, Their service is fast, All Roti and Naan Items you will never find this taste in any other Indian restaurant in Kathmandu. I am Indian , I expect same type of food 🥘 Here in Western Tandoori I felt same. Thanks and I will keep visting this place. In love with your restaurant.

Was looking for hostels to stay, but ended up finding this restaurant which has great reviews. So I decided to try it out myself and I wasn't disappointed at all. Tried their chicken tikka masala, aloo paratha, mushroom curry, butter naan and a few more curries/gravies and everything tasted great. Their tandoori chicken tasted quite average. Their service was quick and the staff was friendly and responded to our food related queries. Ambience is quite simple and old, not fancy as a modern restaurant or fast food chain these days. This place is quite popular among locals and tourists.

Excellent, delicious and inexpensive food with super nice young people running this small local restaurant. Despite no fancy decor, a bit looked untidy, they cooked everything with hearts. Highly recommended.

Decided to grab dinner from here on our first night in Thamel and it set the bar high for the rest of our trip. Food was very flavorful, the garlic naan and butter chicken were good. Staff were very kind and attentive. Affordable spot. Definitely would revisit this spot.

The best go-to for indian food in thamel. We ordered the chana masala with butter naan and the chicken biryani. Their naan was light, flaky and buttery and the chana, soft with an intense flavour. We wiped our plates clean and you will too!

Best place I found around Thamel for Indian food. I went for Dinner last night and their Chicken Biriyani was so good. The next day morning I went there again to have my breakfast... The egg curry and butter naan was really good.. The food was reasonably priced also. The staff speaks good English and it's run by a family. Highly recommended for Indian Food in Thamel.

Great food at good prices! Amazing chicken and paneer butter masala. Cheese paratha is filled with yummy melted cheese; naan is fresh. We waited like 10 minutes for our order, so fast!

We stopped by here looking for tandoori chicken and this place was amazing! We stopped by here three times while we were here in Nepal which is rare for us to stop by a restaurant more than once as we love to try new places! It is one of the best restaurants in Thamel. We ordered something different every time we stopped by here and everything was amazing! The prices are very affordable compared to a lot of restaurants in Kathmandu. The service was great! The place was pretty clean! They also have a hand washing station with soap which is nice since a lot of the dishes require eating by hand! Highly recommended!

A great indian food around Thamel. Price is a bit higher than other local eateries but its worth it. I love their naan, Briyani and the chicken butter masaala. This is a local dhaawa that tourists love to be in.

This place used to be a bit of ‘hidden’ gem, with a run down local vibe, with a line up and having to share a table to get everyone served as quickly as possible. It was an experience. They have now moved to a bigger, newer place. Some of the charm has gone and the menu has grown to accommodate more people but the food still tastes delicious and the service is still great. Definitely worth a visit.

Best restaurant I’ve been to in Kathmandu. They have incredible naan that they make fresh (fun to watch for an American whose not used to that). Haven’t tried anything on the menu I haven’t loved. It’s run by an incredibly nice family, very friendly and personable. They are doing well and moving to a larger location in a few weeks which I am happy about - they deserve it!

The place doesn't look appealing from the outside. It looks messy but the food here is pretty good. Value for money and taste is really good. Much better compared to some other fancy restaurants. Palak paneer is good. Second visit. Mutton paneer is good aswell.

Amazing! Me and my partner have been here every time we have been to Nepal some times twice in one day! Outstanding service and quick delivery! I would recommend the tandoori chicken since the place is named after it! If you can't choose ask the staff what they recommend and you will not be disappointed! Everything is fresh, you can see them making the dough for the naan. 10/10

One of the best place to eat in Thamel. The prices are very affordable compared to a lot of restaurants in Kathmandu. The service was great but it would have been great if the quantity was a bit more and the taste a bit nicer. So for the quantity ill give a 3 and for the taste 3.8. Other than that everything about the place is good. Best place to eat if you are in thamel and looking for a budget friendly restaurant.

After spending about 3 weeks in Kathmandu now I can say it’s the best restaurant here for us! Excellent, really tasty food! We had the butter masala and the vegetable fried rice with plain nan and sweet lassi and coke; all for 800. Very tasty and fresh. Cheap and friendly service. We’ll make it our regular restaurant in Kathmandu! We came back and had the Vegetarian Manchurian. So good!! And back again to have the paneer masala. Exquisite!

Large cafe, little bit overcrowded during main meal time. Open kitchen. Rich choice of Indian cousine, especially tandoori dishes. Reasonable prices. Best solution for big hungry companies, who miss Indian food.

This spot doesnt care for decoration, music, or a flashy menu. Instead they PUMP out delicious breads, and curries, and beverages, and its all too cheap. So easy to make yourself overeat here - everything we tried (across numerous visits) was delicious, and cheap. The rice was probably the weakest component - but the breads are unreal.

It's below average. A bit hygienic is what attract customers. Their special items with premium price are not worth paying.

  • 4/5 Tinh M. 2 years ago on Google
This place has a tiny entrance. When you get to the counter, there's a good medium dining area inside. The food is not that photogenic.... as you can see from other posts here, but it's very tasty. The butter naan is tasty and so is the chicken butter masala. The biryanis is really yummy too. The place doesn't look like much, but the food is very tasty.

I’m glad we found this diamond in Kathmandu it’s taste and price are inversely proportional to each other, for 5 USD we got amazing lunch for 2 people with ample food & pure satisfaction . The inside ambience has lot of space and plenty of tables. Staff are quick and attentive moreover very polite and friendly. I visited 3 days back to back and have good vibes everytime.

  • 5/5 Christoph K. 1 year ago on Google
Very delicious Indian restaurant with very authentic flavour, super nice people and for a cheap price that treats your stomach very well (you simply tell them to not put that much spice!). And above all, they have a very reliably working internet.

First visit and food was great! Rotis we’re freshly made on the spot, with the kitchen beside the dining area. From what I’ve had, I’d like to recommend the Garlic Naan and Chicken Briyani.

One of the highly recommended restaurant in Kathmandu, the food is very tasty and savoury, must try the naan, tandoori ,paneer and many more. Price is reasonable and the staff were very helpful and attentive. Definitely come back again .

From Indian standards, food was very ordinary... If you are from India, it is not worth trying for taste. Yes it is value for money! If you are from those countries where Naan and tandoori food is not very common, you will like it..Taste is based on personal benchmark. We were lucky in India... I see most of the five stars are from non Indians! (FYI...Indians do use Google map and a lot.. May be one of the leading country in usage of Google maps! ) ....

This place is one of, if not the best food in Thamel by far.... I have lived in Nepal for 10 years now and have eaten here on and off over those years and I can say without hesitation that I doubt you will find better food or value in Thamel or Kathmandu. The place is run by an extremely humble and hard working Dad, Mum and sons who prep and service tasty Veg or Meat Indian style food daily. I could write a couple of pages on what I think you should try but for veggies I think the Dal makhani with garlic or plain nan bread and for the carnivores out there the mutton masala again with nan or chapati are both really good. The location is just down from the Chhaya Center and for those who use to visit the old location its on the same road just little further down as you walk towards Thamel. As for the reviews I see here that are 1 star I think they must have been looking for free food or something and used the review to get at the owners as I lived in India for 9 months and traveled all over from Kerala to Leh and I didn't find the food an better than at Western Tandoori. I am sure India does have better food as they have 1.3 billion people and far far larger economy but Nepal is NOT India and comparing the two is unfair. Great value, Great taste, Great family owned business and great location for trekkers etc as they are in Thamel.

Cheap and best restaurants in the heart of Thamel. They have an open kitchen. And notice more foreign than local customers. You can order from rice to roti and Chicken to goats dishes.

So good! Ate for the first time here today, tandoori chicken was perfect after a big gym workout. Overall, really good value, tasty food, lovely staff, chilled vibes and... so we'll organised! They have nailed restaurant operations so food comes out super quick and payment is really easy. I'd eat here multiple nights a week if I had longer in Kathmandu!

Best meal I had so far in nepal. Prices are really cheap except for what I took which was the chicken Tikka masala The owner started to make some Carmel ice cream and let us try which was really good! The chicken Tikka masala was so good I took another meal The butter naan was amazing Highly recommended and sad I didn't have the chance to come back Lovely stuff

One of my favorites spots to eat in Kathmandu! They’re famous for their bread and I guess it’s not really a secret place cause it’s always packed. The garlic naan and Bhunai or Kadai combo is hard to beat.

  • 5/5 Ratan K. 10 months ago on Google
Just returning from WTNH after dinner. I had ordered Tandoori Chicken, Dal Makhni, and Butter Nan. The pick of the dishes was the Butter Nan, Dal makani was good, and the Tamdoori Chicken was excellently cooked with mild masala, crispy from outside, and moist from inside. Half of Chicken, to my knowledge, consists of one leg, one wing, and, and half of brest. The portion I got was half a leg piece, one wing, one trunk piece, and two more very small pieces. Well, if it is "just like that" it is ok, otherwise should be concerning to the management. The service was good and quick and cost reasonable. Shall definitely recommend.
