Delightful place. Our server was very polite and extremely knowledgeable. He recommended us our food and they were delicious. It's peaceful and the surrounding area is quiet. Nearby you will be able to do some shopping but they will be overpriced. If you are a smoker,they tend to keep only Surya light. Overall wonderful experience.

Never thought there is cafe inside Babar Mahal. This place is cozy, quite and romantic. Of course French restaurant has to be romantic by default. Staff are very friendly. One of my French friends took me there to taste some french food and I must say that I loved it. Food was so delicious.

You should be visiting here if you want French influenced foods and they are amazing.

C’est vraiment très très bien! This food is truly brilliant, I wish we had more restaurants with this quality of French and other European cuisines. Eating here gave me a complete flashback to my time in Paris. If you like tender meat, try the Ostrich which in opinion is a perfect dish to have with the Merlot on offer by glass. Merci Caroline! Chez Caroline is one of my favorite places for lunch/dinner. I like their Crepes (we usually get the one with 3 toppings-chicken, cheese and spinach) and lasagna. My favorites for dessert are the Mille-Feuille and Crème Brulee. I love that they serve great bread and fresh salad both of which are complimentary! Our favorite staff there is Madhuji-very experienced, professional and helpful. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is very pretty, makes for great pictures in good weather. Good service, good food, great desserts!

I visited Chez Caroline on my first visit to Nepal in 2007. 15 years later and now a proud dad of a half-Nepali 11 year old chori, Chez Caroline has kept it magic. The (very) French menu still features delicious fare for everyone's tastebuds and the ambiance in the exquisite Baber Mahal palace is like the service: parfait 🇫🇷 . This restaurant truly is a living legend in fast changing Nepal. Missing the Nougat glacé though 😋.

This is our favourite place for date night. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Gorgeous food and a peaceful atmosphere. It was really worthwhile going to have lunch. I begin with the parisiene salad. The lamb was fantastic! And a crème brûlée to complement a delicious meal.

Outside courtyard is secluded & quiet considering how close it is to a busy road. Could easily grab a drink and rest a while. Pricey for sure (we paid ~1000 NPR per person), but surprisingly good for a French place not in France. Recommend the crepes & croque monsieur -- super cheesy & an indulgent amount of butter. The lassi even tasted like it was made at a French place rather than Nepali which makes it even more legit? Staff were super nice too. They had a nifty looking high chair for our toddler.

The staff were super sweet. The food was great and the location was the cherry on top. Loved everything about it!

Great ambiance. We went there for dessert only but was not as expected. Coffee was also average. I wouldn’t recommend if you are going for dessert only.

One of the best places to visit, eat, drink and enjoy the atmosphere... highly recommended Try the avo salad, chicken burger, lemon tart... creme brulle hadn't set.. so we returned it, and they deducted it from the bill... still give it the best rating...

Large selection of food, all of high quality. Setting is a quiet oasis away from the hustle of Kathmandu. Staff are lovely and attentive, even speak French, but English as well. We had a lovely evening and reasonably priced too. We popped in for lunch a couple of times as well.

The food was good; my wife ordered a souffle, my self the blue cheese ravioli. The two were cooked properly, but they were lacking flavor. The ravioli had no blue cheese taste, and one would expect at least a little nutmeg. The waiter spoke French which was a surprise and a comfort. The atmosphere is pleasant and you forget you are in Kathmandu. Foreign guests, well established art galleries and shops in the same complex. I would recommend a visit at least once...

The ambience and service were great. The server who served us was attentive and had charm. Could tell thst he had been with the establishment for quite some years and was trained well, a thing lacking in multiple high end establishments The drinks were decent but the food was apalling. Had the Croc Monsouier and just looking at it made me sad. Just two slices of what looked like Nanglo bread with a light smear of Bechamel inside making the sandwich dry even with the ham and cheese filling, served with fries that felt over cooked or refried again. At those prices felt like the food was stuck in a time loop. While others venues in similar space are moving towards artisinal loafs and sourdough the food felt archaic.

Excelent french restaurant with exceptional food , service and atmosphere. Exactly what you need if you want alternative to local cuisine.

We went to chez Caroline for breakfast on our way to Nagakot hills and we were warmly welcomed by Madhu, the very hospitable and kind server. I highly recommend getting the brunch menu as you have a wide choice of different things to snack on. The almond spiced cake baked fresh that morning will be a key memory of our trip to Nepal. Pro tip: Ask for some chocolate truffles or orange bitters covered in dark chocolate for take away!! Highly recommend, thank you Madhu for your amazing service and Caroline for our little Paris in Nepal. Xx

We love Chez Caroline and go there any time we are in Kathmandu. During the pandemic we didn’t travel but soon after we did. Of course we visited Chez Caroline. We sat down and the waiter came to serve us. He said” Oh I know you. You sat at this table last time you were here!! Great service and meals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 star rating. ✅

It was outstanding! The vast spread of the buffet, the amazing and appetizing options that are available are seriously well thought of. Our table was personally looked after by the amazing team . Hats off to the all the team member Thank you for making it an amazing experience. I would surely visit again. It is genuinely one of the best restaurants to visit with any group for any occasion.
