The building of this restaurant is more than 100 years old. It was a haveli( palace) actually and belonged to erstwhile Rulers Rana dynasty. Now it has been converted into a typical Nepali food restaurant. Good thing is that owners have retained the old look and ambiance of this old haveli. Their Thakali food is excellent.

A unique experience awaits you when you dine at Nepali Chulo. The authenticity of the place gives you a glimpse in the Nepali culture and cuisine. You have to sit and relish the meal which is served a traditional style. A bowl of popcorn and the traditiona rice drink are served initially followed by the starters. Its an experience which should be enjoyed slowly and in a relaxed way. The dance performances keep you engaged. The food tastes good and the starters are good except the momos, which were ordinary and no so tasty. The traditional thali is good. Loved the interiors and the concept more than the food.

Nice authentic Nepali lunch and dinner. They have cultural programs too. Many foreigners go here and enjoy their time. For Nepalese it is a bit expensive but if you keep in mind the whole package its worth it. you have to open your shoes, Nepali style, before entering the room. As we want our eating place to be nice and clean. Whenever my foreigner friends come to Nepal I take them here and everyone has appreciated the cultural program and the dinner. During peak times its best to book your place in advance.

Came here as part of a group and they just can't manage to provide good service or care about you seeing the performance by having some tables around the corner from the stage. We had to wait 90 min for the main and constantly explain who's vegetarian who isn't. Don't go here if you have a choice.

Although the price is more but you can spend a nice evening with your family & friends in Nepali chulo situated in the heart of Nepal. Drink ( both Hard & soft-beer) options are there. Veg & non veg thalis are also available but the price including tax is NPR 2000+ per thali.

It's a kind of ethnic restaurant which claims to be an authentic eatery. During day time it's deserted but in the evening the atmosphere changes with live music and proper lighting. I didn't find the food impressive. It was not even warm. The ambience is good and there are lots of parking. Those who have never enjoyed Nepali cuisines will enjoy it.

Good place to consider if you want Nepali khana and other authentic dishes

Came across the minor gem by chance as it was near our hotel… a big rambling old palace… with performances by local dancers…. We were early and got front row… food was a set menu an not and amazing culinary experience but overall an amusing night… good cocktails… appears to cater for large tour groups more than individuals like us

What made my experience worst was the use of single plastic. I recently attended one party in this place. I was shocked to witness the use of single plastic from bottles to glasses. They have no thoughtful thoughts for the nature. It's sad as this place is one of the most oldest in the city. Hope they stop the over use of plastics. Food was good though.

A decent place to go dine with a group or family. I loved the ambience here above all else. The food was ok ( I had Nepali Thali), music and the cultural show was great.

The set menu with wild boar was great but the desert had only yoghurt given the price. And the seating was a bit cramped at night . Good cultural showcase but I prefer more spacious stage and seatings.

Authentic Nepali dish restaurant. We can enjoy the traditional dancing perfomance here. The food is good. But not a best choice for those who prohibited to eat pork, because they have pork menu here also.

This is one of the most sophisticated traditional Nepalese restaurants in the city, located centrally at Lazimpat with ample space of parking. This is an old traditional building two storey, I guess without lift. The utensils, serving plates, glasses all were traditional Nepalese brass. We went for dinner in a group where the traditional 3 course meal was the only option with Chicken, fish and vegetarian. If you need all-a-carte, please visit in the afternoon. However during dinner there is several traditional Nepalese dances were showcased and we could also dance with them on last song. We were also allowed to dance with our own group and songs. The taste was good and localized, the price was on a bit higher sides. Staff were alert and available all the time to respond to us.

It is a restaurant with an authentic environment. We enjoyed the live show. All the food was delicious. The staff were kind.

It is very orientic and traditional restaurant of Nepal. When we take off the shoes, we are already a nepalian. The most exciting thing is traditional concert of Nepal - singing band and various dances from the different tribes of nepal. The default course menu is thali set including appetizers and it has fabulous taste and scents

This place has been affected by the decline in tourism caused by the pandemic, but they gave the few of us there a great show and excellent dinner. If you want a taste of the food and the culture, this is the place to get both.

I went yesterday to have meals . At the end of time when we finished having meal we found green larger caterpillar in food. Now i am facing diarrhea today. They even charge me for that meals too. Who is responsible? Shame on you for that. I do not suggest to go over there….

Overall nice. I visited two times. On this time it was night.

The Starters(Momo,Choila, Peanuts) were good but the Main Course(Rice,Dal,Pickle,Meat, Vegetables) were below average . If the taste of the food had been better then it would have been an amazing experience at Nepali Chulo.

It was great here i loved the food the aesthetics are totaly nepalese and we can see that decorated with every traditional tools and utensils it has really helped to preserve the importance of nepalese ethnicity

Has fixed menu of vegetarian and non veg ,which includes popcorn,nepali wine, snacks(momo, peanuts, alu, chicken sadeko) and main course with with fish or badel and chicken for non veg and paneer ,mushroom for veg . You get to see various live authentic dances and at the end peacock dance which is most amusing.

Nice place. Friendly staff. Had gin but no tonic. Raksi was good. Floor cleanliness is an issue. Old place but requires maintenance.
