A very pleasant experience in this family run restaurant, the food was good, the hospitality was amazing and their exceptional warm and welcoming homely ambience. We were welcomed with rightly needed glasses of warm water in the drizzling evening where we sat on their dining table set up in a separate room. Very thoughtful and attentive brother and sister doing their best. We tried their recommended dishes: Momo and Shaphale, sadly ghumuy ( blood sausages) were already finished. No added seasonings and their home minced meat was perfect. Shaphale was not oily and just perfectly made, so were the dumplings. The dipping tomato sauce was tangy and also extra chilli oil pot available on the table. The complementary pickled radish and chilly were perfectly complementing the dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed their healthy homely cooked meal with my hot lemon with honey. A healthy meal! PS: They have ample parking lots and a garden to sit outside too.

Absolutely incredible Tibetan food, in an adorable family home. They were very sweet and attentive hosts and suggested a mouthwatering set of dishes to order. All for <$10 per person! Definitely recommend, especially if you are visiting Boudha Stupa nearby.

Gawa Restaurant serves delicious, fresh and juicy Momo. Their shabalep is also very good and very different from most deep fried ones. But what makes Gawa Restaurant really stand out from all other Tibetan wannabe restaurants is their Gyuma, Tibetan sausage. The freshly hand minced meat that goes into the stuffing of the gyuma is blended with secret herbs and gives a delicious taste. You can order fried or steamed. I prefer the fried one. Love this place. Since it’s a family operated business, service is the best.

They have the best Gurma and Momos.

Not really a place for vegetarians. Run by a very nice Tibetan family. Staff and owners are extremely friendly and attentive.Kitchen was clean, and food was flavorful. The issue was that the waitress assured us that the pork was tender, and it arrived rubbery, and extremely chewy. We asked them to pressure cook it for some time. They did, and it was better, but still not tender at all. Chicken was dry and leathery. We took it home to feed to our crows. The portions, are extremely small and at a very high price. These people are really great, but the food, not. We won’t ever return.

I am an American in Kathmandu in search of the best Tibetan food, and I have found it here. Like sitting down to lunch in the home of a Tibetan friend who is also a great chef :)
