Just below our hotel was this cafe called Black Olives. The place was quite busy specially for morning breakfast as well as dinner. We could see many tourists dining at this place so we decided to have a breakfast to keep moving on for the rest of the day. The food was good and tasted nice.

Black Olives Cafe, located on Chaksibari Marg in Kathmandu, offers a variety of cuisines, including Nepali dishes. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating options, making it a comfortable dining experience for customers. Additionally, the mention of the restaurant being clean is reassuring, as cleanliness is an important aspect of dining out. The inclusion of a bar and live music in the evenings on a weekly basis adds to the restaurant's appeal, creating a vibrant atmosphere for customers. The location is also ideal, making it easily accessible for both locals and tourists. The statement about the food being "good snacks and food" is promising, although more information about the menu and pricing would be useful to fully evaluate the restaurant. Overall, based on the information provided, Black Olives Cafe seems like a promising dining option in Kathmandu, particularly for those looking to try local Nepali dishes while enjoying live music and a lively atmosphere.

We tried this place as the menu looked nice as did the outside seating area. The service was prompt and friendly. While we were there they had a fire going in the center court area and some traditional live Nepali music. If you want a calm environment in the Thamel area, this a certainly a perfect place for that. Oh, and it was very clean—always a plus!

The breakfast options are plentiful and everyone in my party of four enjoyed the meal. The coffee was great, though I heard from my friend at the table that the watermelon juice was not as tasty as at other restaurants. It's a nice environment to eat in, though there is a big strike for the men's room not being available and having a strong smell emanating from that area. I ordered the simple breakfast with two eggs, toast, potatoes and onion and sliced fruit. All four of us basically ate a variety of the simple breakfast menu. The total cost for the meal was only 1,615 nr.

Craving Nepali food for dinner , and looking for a restaurant with an inviting decor and ambiance, I entered the beautifully lit bistro and I ordered the Sandeko Kathmandu, Gorka beer, and finished with a wonderful choc brownie with ice cream, and was pleased with both the excellent food , and service. The menu is extensive and caters for all tastes and appetites. The prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. Black Olives Cafe is easily Highly Recommended for every occasion.

Incredible service with good food. I had the "Mexican power" breakfast. It's super chill in the morning but probably has a vibe in the evening.

Visited Black olives with a friend for a couple of drinks. The ambiance is outdoorsy which is what I usually prefer. The vibe was good. Service is ok and can be improved. The waiters are really sweet but lack training. We had a couple of sangria and Bailey, which was made well and nice blend. For munching we had Chilly Fries, which tasted really good with the right amount of spices. Nice place for a candle lit dinner. PS: they show extra warmth if you are a foreigner. Locals + Browns they don't care much. Nepalis weren't like this but things are changing!

Food was great, Pizza was mouth watering and loved their atmosphere. We spent the 31st night in there. But they should work on their service. They lacked staff and the serving was pretty late.

Black Olives Cafe offers a fantastic live music experience that truly impressed me. The ambiance created by the talented musicians was enjoyable and added to the overall atmosphere. However, while the veggie burger was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations. Despite that, the live music alone is worth a visit to Black Olives Cafe for a memorable and entertaining evening.

After trekking for nearly three weeks we wanted a juicy burger. The bacon cheese burger at Black Olives surely fit the bill. Washed down with two cold bottles of Tubourg beer we were ready for a much needed nap. Great fries. Great Service. highly recommended.

I had one of the best Lunch yesterday at Blackolives. They have freshly made momo and great coffee. Even during the virus pandemic, they are offering quite many choices of menu. I will go back again soon. Many thanks to the team. DPS

Very reasonable price. For 480 RPS I was able to get 2 eggs, 2 toast, potatoes, watermelon juice, and milk coffee. Perfect place for a wholesome breakfast.

Very nice atmosphere, live music, ok food, bad dry martini - wasn’t nearly as strong as should be. Chicken sizzler is on fire :)

Excellent chicken momos with a very welcome side salad in a chilled courtyard setting or cab go upstairs. No live music during off-season though. Starts up again mid-September.

Nice dhal bat, nice veg momos (it’s a big portion and the sauce is yummy), nice veg burger (and we had a few in Nepal!) that actually has a great flavor and texture… staff is very helpful and friendly

We didn't dine-in but wanted to have tea because of the good reviews of their masala tea. There were 4 of us and they said all the tables were reserved. It was dinner time and therefore understandable if they wanted to reserve the main tables for diners. But we were asked to go to one dark corner and share 2 small tables sitting separately. At least fix a table using the 2 tables to accommodate us, please. The service personnel probably arrived yesterday from the mountain villages. Oh well, not their fault, more of the management's fault for the lack of training.

Great atmosphere and services. All good and fair prices.

Had dinner there with the traditional dal vaat. Plain rice, lentil soup, spinach vegetable and a choice between fish or chicken curry along with some masala/pickle blend sauce and something else white’ish (no idea what’s in it). Oh a few pieces of cucumber and carrots sliced in round shape as salad (I think). Didn’t like the pickle sauce and the white soup thingy but everything else was okay. I think the price to the value of what you get isn’t quite there. But that’s just me.

I had a very delicious Mexican breakfast (with cornbread) at Black Olives Cafe. It was a great start to the morning. The location is good and the staff are friendly. I would recommend a visit!

Nice atmosphere at both indoors and outdoors seating area. Food and service quality is on the higher end and so is the price accordingly. Serves a variety of cuisine such as Nepali, Indian, Chinese, Western, a good range of snacks and drinks too. The portion is really value for what you pay and it tastes delicious 👌

Fish was exquisite! Expertly prepared to my request (medium rare), it was moist, flavorfully seasoned & very tender. The ice cream for dessert tasted like homemade gourmet ice cream. Going back tomorrow for dinner again. Very happy they allowed us to turn off the TV near our table. Then it was more like fine dining instead of a sports bar. Highly recommend!

Food is good, but not generous. The service is really long. We have waited more than 1 hour for 2 simple dishes.

Quiet and clean, just off the street. The food was good, staff friendly and prices reasonable. I recommend Black Olive, it's close to the Kathmandu Guest House in Thamel.

What an awesome experience! We had PadThai & Paneer Masala and both were absolutely delicious (no worries about food poisoning). They also provided us with mosquito candle #ThumbsUp. With one mineral water our bill was around 1300 rupies. Definitely recomended!
