Good local museum. Lots of indigenous information and perspective. Large reproductions of indigenous and settler buildings. Tonnes of artifacts and interactive pieces (not currently accessible for health safety reasons). Temporary Bat exhibit was very educational. Good physical distancing and mask use.

Very well maintained museum. The entry is by donation. The day we went was pretty quiet so we had enough time to check all the different exhibitions. It’s a good place to get familiar with Canadian History. I recommend to dedicate at least 1 hour to view everything. There’s parking available in front the museum as well as in the surroundings.

This is by far one of the most interesting museums in the Kelowna region and a hidden gem. The military museum although small has excellent displays and the staff take their time to show you around.

Felt like seeing the indigenous spirit of the land get stuffed? Did you ever feel like history was trivial and impersonal and put on display inside an institution that had no answers to offer anybody? Like that, with a slight touch of sadness and a couple of layers of dust. Would go for a date here because the rest of the city is even stranger than this place. Imagine that.

Very well done museum, featuring many areas of the natural world, history, indigenous matters, local culture and industries. Great panoramic photos comparing 1912 to present day. (Reduced opening days in the off-season.)

The most comprehensive museum for everything about the Okanagan's history and environment. Great variety of exhibits from different cultures and locations, spanning thousands of years. An absolute must visit. Give yourself at least 1.5 hours to see everything.

This is a fantastic museum in the heart of downtown Kelowna. There are many interesting exhibits. The native history and winter house are exceptionally good. I have been on multiple field trips over my years as a parent and every class that comes enjoys this part of the visit most of all. The kids even get to climb out of the top of the winter house. Wonderful staff, they are well informed and very friendly. They work both at this museum and the military museum down the street. They are very good with young kids and also with teens.

Essential visit for anyone who wants to know more about the history of the BEAUTIFUL Okanagan Valley. The exhibits cover the geology, biology, and anthropological history of the valley presenting a nuanced look at the colonization of Kelowna and the surrounding area. Definitely worth checking out if you're in downtown Kelowna. I would also reccomend the tour, my tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Went to learn about their Truth and Reconciliation exhibits and was very happy to have such an interactive experience. I learned alot about the traditional and unceded territory of the Sylix Peoples, their history and the continuation of their practices today

Some people were pooping on this place for it’s inclusion/exclusion of indigenous history:.. but I think they did a really good job. It looks like to me that they have recently revamped the museum to thoroughly include indigenous peoples from the area, with consultation and hearing of times that are not just “colonial” or white-focused. The signs are all new for each exhibit and it says that it was done under guidance from a local Indigenous organization. I think they did an amazing job, it was very thorough and reflective. I recommend it to anyone in the area! Keep in mind: no water fountain, no baby changing table from what I could see. Come prepared.

Quite enjoyed this small local museum. They've clearly put a great deal of effort into it, combining well-displayed artifacts, multimedia presentations, a real winter house and detailed explanations in a well-ordered flow. It's quite well done! The wildlife, fossil and geological elements were fascinating. The winter house was superb, and clever use of mirrors gave a sense of the size of such a house. One recommendation for the museum: the 1906 horseless carriage is delightful, but if you placed some lights with an angled mirror underneath it, you would also display the marvelous engine and transmission elements of the car. If you're anywhere near Kelowna, it's well worth an hour or two of your time to visit this lovely museum!

They have some interesting artifacts and items from the Syilx, and some information about the mistreatment of indigenous peoples which is information every Canadian should know, having said all this, there isn't very much, and it's quite a small museum. For the size of our city I would like to see more.

Very interesting entrance by donation museum. Very friendly staff. The exhibits were very well done. It was great learning about the traditions and lives of the indigenous peoples and history of the wineries and farming in the area. Also how the city came to be. There is a sports section as well as a exhibit room that keeps changing for a variety of interests.
