Although we arrived as a group upon closure of the shop. The staff we very friendly and even opened the tables for us and made us feel comfortable..The fish I had ordered was perfectly seasoned and cooked and I am a very hard person to please. It was too darn delicious. The prices was well within budget. As a group the food was devoured and had big smiles.. Thankyou so much for the food and friendly atmosphere.

Took my toddler here for lunch last Saturday, the food was amazing (I had butter chicken) it was literally better than the ones I have bought at actual Indian restaurants! My son got nuggets and chips and seemed pretty pleased. There were a lot of customers and the staff did so well to get their orders out to them all so quickly & managed to make time to come over to ask if our meals were alright even though it was super busy 10/10 ☺️

**India By Night @ By The Sea: A 5-Star Culinary Journey in Kiama** Tucked away in Kiama’s Terralong Street, By The Sea is more than a dining spot; it’s a canvas where culinary artistry meets local charm. By day, this beloved local takeaway serves a plethora of sumptuous dishes. But come nightfall, especially on the third Thursday of each month and other days for exclusive group bookings, it undergoes a magical transformation. This metamorphosis reveals “India by Night @ By The Sea,” an event that redefines the essence of Indian culinary tradition with a modern twist. **The Maestros Behind the Magic:** At the heart of this transformation are Chef Deepanshu Vij, affectionately known as Deep, and his wife Mridul Anand, or Rid. Deep’s culinary voyage from the bustling streets of India to the sophisticated kitchens of the UAE, and then to the local favorite JJ's, has been a journey of relentless passion and creativity. His dishes at By The Sea are a testament to this rich journey. Rid, the epitome of grace and hospitality, orchestrates the dining experience with an impeccable charm, making each guest feel like royalty. **Our Culinary Expedition:** - **Amuse Bouche:** - *Aam Panna*: A traditional Indian drink that set my palate alight with its perfect balance of tanginess and sweetness, prepping me for the culinary delights ahead. - *Paapdi Chaat*: A street food marvel transformed into a gourmet experience, bursting with fresh, zesty flavors. - **Soup:** - *Tamatar Tulsi Ka Shorba*: A velvety concoction of tomato and basil, this soup was a heartwarming revelation, breaking away from the norm found in Indian menus. - **Entrée:** - *Afghani Chicken Tikka*: Each bite of this yogurt and cream marinated chicken was a journey through smoky and aromatic flavors – a celestial version of the classic tikka. - *Lamb Seekh Kebab*: A symphony of spiced lamb, herbs, and spices that melted in my mouth, leaving a lingering desire for just one more bite. - **Main Course:** - *Butter Chicken*: An innovative take on the traditional recipe, packed with unexpected flavors. - *Bhuna Ghost*: A slow-cooked lamb dish that was a romantic storytelling of spices. - *Khadai Paneer*: A vegetarian’s delight, rich, and satisfying, even for the ardent carnivores. - **Sides:** - *Steamed Basmati Rice and Home Made Bread*: The perfect complements to the main dishes, each adding its unique flavor and texture. - **Dessert:** - *Meethi Sewaiyaan*: A sweet vermicelli pudding that whisked me back to the fond memories of childhood desserts, but with an Indian twist. Each course was a unique exploration, beautifully curated and presented. The harmony of traditional flavors with modern culinary techniques made for a memorable dining adventure. **Final Thoughts:** Dining at India By Night @ By The Sea is not merely a meal; it’s an extraordinary experience. The combination of Deep's remarkable culinary skills and Rid's warm hospitality, along with their excellent team, creates an atmosphere of luxury and comfort. For an unmatched and memorable dining experience, this event is a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique epicurean adventure in Kiama. India By Night @ By The Sea stands out as a symphony of exquisite tastes and impeccable hospitality, meriting a rating that exceeds even the 5-star scale. It’s more than just a pop-up restaurant; it's a culinary adventure waiting to be discovered, offering a journey that transcends the ordinary.

Found this place by accident and we were glad we stopped by. The fish and chips were fantastic and the calamari rings… oh boy I could eat them all day! The owner/manager was so lovely. He asked for a feedback and I said more chicken salt for me next time, everything else were spot on! Thank you for such lovely service, see you soon.

The service was quick and prompt with a generous size food . There is a mix of outdoor and indoor seating . You cannot go wrong with the burger with double the lot , just make sure you grab extra tissues for the burger juices . There is plenty of off street parking .Will definitely be back here

Conveniently situated close to Kiama Lighthouse, with parking and nearby shops. We opted for the Calamari and Chips. The calamari was delightful, though the chips didn't meet our taste. The service was prompt, the venue clean, and the staff exceptionally friendly.

Reasonably delicious fish and chips! Taste really good and fresh for both battered and crumbed. Recommend to visit even though the interior design might not be as fanciful as the rest of the restaurants. Price is reasonable as well!

Great food on the main street of Kiama. Lots of choices on the menu and you can eat inside, at the tables outside or takeaway. Best fish and chips in Kiama ;)

One of the better fish and chips I’ve had; batter was crispy and not too heavy, fish wasn’t dry at all, and the chips with the chicken salt were fantastic too. Really good value for money too. Highly recommended for a casual lunch option if you’re visiting Kiama.

I honestly wasn’t expecting this. Wonderful fish and chips, quick, well presented, not oily and tasty. Staff even thanked us as I we left (even though there was a queue out the door). Price wise, extremely decent. Fish and chips, plus a good sized fish sandwich for $26! Thank you :)

Best burgers we've had for a long time! Side of chips were golden and crispy and not greasy/soggy. Well priced. Friendly and helpful service. Comfy seating up the back. Pleasant atmosphere. Doesn't disappoint.

Fisherman's basket not big enough for 2. Basket is loaded up with raw capsicum and celary, not sure why this has any place in a fisherman's basket. Not enough chicken salt on anything, but weren't difficult when asked for more. Food is fairly good, and service was quick (surprising considering it was a long weekend). Burgers have good contents, but the buns are not fluffy and flakey.

Randomly walked by this store looking for a hamburger. First thing that drew me in was the specials board. Great variety of burger deals. I had the burger with the lot chips and a drink. Food was prepared quickly and service with a smile. Definitely a stop over location for a great meal. Also had the home made caramel slice yummm

It's a beautiful take away and eat in restaurant with exceptional service. Me and my friends got three burgers and all of them were tasty and filling. The portion compared to the price is such a steal and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone. Also the food was made super fast even with a massive line of people outside!

The choc/peanut ice cream was incredible. Be a little careful of the ice blocks if you're getting them for kids. They are all natural, no sugar added. It wasn't the sugary treat that my kids expected at all (despite the absence of sugar being mentioned on the label) and as a consequence there were tears. We ended up buying other sweeter things for the kids to accommodate this. I know the cafe is making a concerted effort to offer healthy options and I applaud them for this. It is often difficult to find healthy options when eating out, but we will be a little more careful to read the labels next time. All of the food that came out looked incredible and my family members said their coffees and slices were delicious.

Chicken grilled burger was over cooked and hard to chew with no ketchup applied or any salt The burger bun was too weak and easily broke off BBQ sauce too sweet And was not free.

The absolute BEST burger and fish and chips in kiama. Value for money is phenomenal. The Portuguese burger is my favourite. The food is so fresh and delicious and you won’t be kept waiting. They have such a range of delicious options and the staff are friendly and helpful. Support local and get your next feed from By The Sea - you won’t be disappointed! The hot chips will knock your socks off!

Ordered fishermen’s basket. What a disappointment, dried tasteless fish, likely frozen. Fries were old, and salad mix was inedible. Not sure how a fried burger makes it into a ‘sea’ menu (disgusting). Straight to the bin! Honestly for 25$ you can easily get better value elsewhere…

We were a large group and the staff were very accommodating in getting the food out to us super fast and also advising as we had halal dietary requirements (BTW chicken is halal!) We got the $12 fish and chips specials (both battered and crumbed were delicious), Portuguese chicken burgers, fish burger, and the fisherman's basket. Despite being busy, the staff checked on us twice. Great food, fresh fish, very reasonable prices and high quality customer service. Enjoyed our meal thoroughly :)

Inside the shop was really hot. I wish there was a ceiling fan to make it more tolerable. Food was good for the price and since it was a hot day the drinks in the fridge weren't cold enough. Service was ok

Best Hamburger I have eaten in along time brought back memories of the good old fashioned take aways of the 70s. On a work trip and looking for something to have for lunch and felt like good old fashion hamburger. The hamburger was delicious had everything on it including beetroot. Chips were so crunchy and fresh. Shop is very clean and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this as the place to grab lunch or dinner, you wont be dissappointed

I got a burger meal and I can honestly say the chicken schnitzel burger was absolutely delicious. Great choice of drinks available and really fair prices for good sized meals. Friendly staff and good vibes.

The best fish and chips. Definitely a 5. My husband had a steak sandwich and it was also perfect. The chips were fresh and tasty. You can ask for no salt and not much sauce which made us happy. Very friendly and fast service. Very reasonable prices too. A few choices for eating there with seats and tables at the back, two couches on the side or outside. Being 34 degrees it was much cooler inside! Make sure you go before 5.30pm.

Good, not great. Fish was ok a bit rubbery and batter was doughy like a doughnut. Chips were good. Not too greasy.

We came as a small group and were served promptly with steaming hot food at an amazing value for money. The fish and chips had a crispy, buttery crust and the chips were salted to perfection. Friendly atmosphere to dine in, large variety of quality food, and overall great staff.

Nice place to eat. Staff are very friendly too. Was very busy with people coming and going but the food still came out relatively quickly. Seafood was lovely, tasty batters, and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the pumpkin salad (although I think they may have used sweet potato fries….). I didn’t love the chips though, they were slightly undercooked, very yellow, under salted.

😠 Went there on 17Apr2022. They have nice view, but I’d avoid it. Here is why: Food. They were average, I wouldn’t say terrible but definitely not worth the price; the egg white omelette looks good but barely had any taste. The chilli sauce and egg & avo don’t go well together. Coffee was a bit burnt...
