Cafe69 was definitely the most unique restaurant that we went to in Samui. Located just on the main road, you would not expect at a glance that it would serve delicious, beautiful, and creative dishes that look like works of art. This restaurant came highly recommended by friends and immediately upon entering, I could see why. The staff were extremely profession and friendly, and I could see a large variety of diners (from families to lone diners) who were enjoying their food. I loved the use of edible flowers for decoration on the dishes. Flavour-wise, each mouthful was packed full of flavour (even when we were very, very careful with the spice levels). I liked that there were various textures in each dish (especially the starters such as the pomelo salad), and that each dish had a different fragrance. I'd definitely love to visit again. And I'd recommend making a reservation so you don't miss out on this popular eatery.

Really, really excellent dinner. Super friendly staff, accommodated us with 2 messy babies and provided custom orders for them. The food itself was top notch - creative, beautifully served, super tasty, and not at all expensive. The chicken with green curry and the red curry duck dumplings were amazing starters, the lamb Massaman was just as delicious, and the desserts were wonderful as well.

Amazing food! Our lunch has been the most delicious experience. An absolute MUST for any meat lover are the slow cooked Krapao beef cheeks😍 There are plenty of options for vegetarians or vegans as well. Everything was FANTASTIC and hands down the best food we have eaten since arriving in Thailand😍 The owners of the cafe are very sweet and you can feel how passionate they are about their business. Thank you🙏 What a treat!😍

Don't be misled by its name, this is by far one of the best restaurants we ate in for a long time. The design may seem funky, but the food was amazing, and it's all part of the owner's amazing creativity. I would even go as far as to say it deserves a michelin star or two! The dishes are a modern interpretation of Thai cuisine, but the detail to flavours were taken to the extreme. Perfectly balanced, each bite was as good as the previous one. The owner and chef, Vivian, who is also the designer, is a true artist!

My favourite restaurant in Thailand! I absolutely loved every single dish. Tuna tartare, pomelo salad with shrimp, black ink spaghetti with salmon..no words, incredible flavours! I would've never guessed that from the outside of the restaurant. I cannot recommend this place enough. The drinks were also great and you can customize the sweetness level. I'll definitely be back. Big congrats to the chef and please open a restaurant in Singapore so that we can enjoy your dishes there! 😊 I'd have this food every day of my life.

Having just eaten at a Michelin restaurant in Bangkok, I can say this has been my favorite meal after 9 days in Thailand and that says a lot. Don't be put off by by its looks or proximity to the main road. If it were on the beach you would be charged 3x as much for these delectable creative dishes by the sweetest owner. It was such a pleasure experiencing his culinary passion and creative takes on traditional Thai dishes. Wish we were in Ko Samui longer just to try more of his dishes. Tip: order the small dishes to share. And go with Vivian's recommendations, you won't be disappointed!!

This restaurant totally threw me off, the decor and the name. Although 69 is my favourite number. I have been in Thailand for a year, and this is by far from hole in the wall restaurants to fine dining restaurants, the best meal I have had. I don’t know how the chef does it, but he has mastered all the flavours and textures to create culinary masterpieces. Will definitely return every time I am in Samui.

We were staying somewhere nearby and chanced upon this eatery on google and decided to go for it. No regrets! The owner, Vivian, was very friendly and gave really good recommendations. They are generous with their serving portions and the food was definitely great. We had to go back a second time to try all other foods on the menu. My favourite was the green curry chicken pie and the fried rice with fish! Hope to have a chance to dine in again in future!

One word for this place… Amazing! The food was absolutely beautiful, taste and presentation. The owner gave me great recommendations on which dishes to pick and quickly adapted my rice paper rolls because I can’t eat soft shell crab. The team are so welcoming. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had on my trip. Highly recommend Cafe 69. I know I’ll be back there.

A cute little restaurant by the roadside. We were warmly welcomes in and offered a table. We chose to sit outside as there was a slightly weird smell inside, but not enough to give it less than 5 stars. We ordered a starter and a main to share. The starter was red curry duck dumplings, and was very delicious. The curry came in a small jug to pour on the dumplings to our preference. It was very rich, and I almost felt full after a couple of them. Our main dish was a whole snapper fish with green curry sauce and mango balls. This too was very good, and the presentation was great. I asked for medium spicy, but it was zero spicy, so I suggest ordering very spicy for any kick. Nevertheless, it was very tasty and we couldn't finish it all. I did bring it back home as it would be a sin to waste it! No comments on drinks, only had water. Prices were on the medium side but very worth it. Overall a great place for a yummy dinner.

A must visit if you're in Bophut. Absolutely phenomenal food (don't miss the green curry pie!), such welcoming, genuine and attentive service and almost unbelievably low prices for the quality of the food. The chef and owner should be so proud of everything achieved here. Highly, highly recommended.

Guys, if you are reading the reviews because you’re not sure wether go or not because of the leopard interior - please go 😁 the food is AMAZING. Pad Thai is the best! Duck dumplings and chicken pie are just CRAZY!!! The food presentation is unique 👏🏻The owner is the nicest person , he shared with us that he has been into cooking since childhood. He is really talented to create all these things.

Interesting food fusions. Not to everyones taste. Started was big and interesting..tom yum cones. Whole deep fried fish was good...needed some seasoning. Desserts very basic. Eclectic furnishings. Very friendly staff.

Was so happy to have been recommending this place. Was seated then the owner came out to great us, we asked him to recommend our meals which he did and they were fantastically plated and the flavors where Devine. We had to go back again and where we had different meals and again the best I have had in my travels in Thailand to date.

Amazing food experience! Thai cuisine served with a modern twist. The chef is a really sweet and nice man who likes to explain the menu and listens to the food preferences. We were so sad to have discovered this amazing restaurant on our last day on Koh Samui but we are definitely coming back next time!

Good food, innovative design and excellent service, what more could you ask for? The restaurant is the little gem of Koh Samui, the food is excellent and the Thai cuisine is felt behind each and every dish. The service is amazing and everything is done in the service, the raw materials feel high quality and combine into delicious and beautiful dishes. The element of the atmosphere in the place transmits an innovative and young modern design. There is a complete menu for vegetarians and vegetarian dishes. The prices at the place are very affordable in relation to the amount of food we ordered (3 starters + 2 main courses + 3 soft drinks at a cost of 1400 baht). We will definitely return to the place the next time we come to Ko Samui. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good food on the island.

You wouldn’t be able to tell by the outside or looking at the menu, but the food is asias top 50 quality. The flavors, texture, innovation and service are all top notch. We’ve come here on back to back nights and are thinking of coming back for more still. Simply amazing

The food was. AMAZING. And chef Vivian is super friendly, humble, and genuinely cares that his customers are enjoying the food. We had suchhhh a good experience here both times (once lunch, once dinner) we visited within span of 3 days. My ultimate favs: Papaya salad with soft shell crab roll, the KIDS PAD THAI!! (Sweet sauce version! Can ask them for it, not on menu), adults pad Thai with soft shell crab, tom yum seafood cones, and the mango sticky rice creme brûlée. We also had the squid ink pasta with green curry and the sirloin steak. Both were great as well!! Not enough time to try even more of their amazing dishes. BUT WE WILL BE BACK. Please continue to support them!!! Thank you again Chef Vivian!! 🙏🏻🥹

WOW! Just wow! If you’re in Koh Samui and looking for some great food then get this on your list. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the papaya salad and soft crab rolls, chicken spring rolls, the beef cheek and the sea bass. It was all superb! I used google messaging to book and it couldn’t have been easier. Vivian and the team were so lovely and looked after us so well. Get yourself there, you will not regret it!

A fine dining disguised as a cafe! The food here blew me away, and it was clear it was created by someone who loves food. Tuna tartar and somtum roll with soft shell crab were my favorite. Chicken green curry puff was so flaky and scrumptious and truly deserved to be the signature dish. Will definitely come back for more ❤️

We’re there couple of days ago. Lovely place not to far from Fishermen village. Interior is very bright and colorful, and so is food. That was amazing experience with Thai cuisine. Def the best Tom yum I’ve ever tasted! It’s not on the menu, but the chef prepared it, and that was 11/10. Creamy, tender, very balanced and yummy. Pad Thai with soft shell crab was amazing too! Also we ordered seafood cones (very wide range of the taste in your mouth) - look at cute picture :) Chef is The chef by the nature: always asked how was the food and recommended the best options. Don’t miss it while you on Koh Samui. Totally worth it!

What a find!!!! I am so gutted we didn’t find this until our penultimate night. We stopped by early on the off chance and although they were fully booked for the night, we were offered a table for an hour before a reservation arrived. Vivian is a legend - there’s no other word. His quirky, unique style for both this little space and the most dazzling food is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Asian fusion is the official genre however this is love on a plate. As good, if not better than the majority of Michelin starred restaurants we have dined at. We really struggled to pick off the menu because there were so many dishes that called to us. We arrived hungry and intrigued, we left with a piece of our hearts still at the table ♥️ Please, please book and share this amazing experience. It will make your holiday!

Loved it, great hospitality by Vivian and his team. Great food, fabulous flavours, small venue so you need to book. Don't hesitate, go here. We enjoyed the Green curry pie, Tom cones and beef and seabass for main course. Beef was spicy! Excellent meal, thanks Vivian.

Dined for dinner. We shared the roti chicken green curry & prawns on toast with mango mayo for entree, krapao beef cheek with rice for main & creme brulee mango sticky rice for dessert. I also had a tom yum cocktail. All the food was super tasty with amazing flavours. Service from the owner was very friendly & welcoming. This is a small restaurant so definitely recommend to book in advance. Recommend & will definitely return when visiting Samui again.

Based on the name and decor, this restaurant is not at all what I expected. It offers the food (taste and presentation) of a high-class restaurant and the service and price of a local family owned Cafe. My only regret is that I found it on my last day in Samui. My favourite dish was the roti curry entree.

What a atmosphere. Vivan the owner is fantastic, great explanation on the dishes, and the food is a MUST GO. Really, the best food I ate in Thailand so far. Highly recommend the chicken curry pie, duck dumpling and the duck in the current as main dish..delicious.

This is one of those places where you just feel so lucky to have found it. We were in Thailand for about 6 weeks this year and this was one of our top restaurants for sure! Every dish was so unique and so tasty. We had to come back again the next day :) Definitely the best food we ate on Samui.

Very nice and stylishly decorated restaurant. The attention to detail is also reflected in the arrangement of the dishes. We received a very warm welcome and were made to feel very comfortable. We were shown pictures of the food to illustrate the choice between the many different dishes. The food was unbeatable delicious. We would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic experience at Cafe 69. Vivian and his staff looked after us so well. We ordered 2 starters - tuna tartare and prawn on toast, as well as 2 mains - beef cheek and smoked duck curry. Food was delicious!

The food is delicious and special, great cocktails, and with a gracious and professional service by the staff and owner/chef. The restaurant itself may be small, and the style wasn't my fav, but there's a lot of character to it, the food is a celebration, and cocktails made generously, which says a lot about them, and makes it a "must visit!" as far as I'm concerned. I highly recommend.

WOW!!! We came here for a last minute dinner because our hotel, the Six Senses, recommended and we are beyond happy and incredibly grateful! Every dish was stellar, the ambiance was groovy eclectic and the service was superb. Vivian, the owner and chef, was not only kind, gracious and warm but his dishes were one of a kind creations in presentation!! His spin on Thai staples was the most imaginative my husband and I have ever seen. Ps, this is my husband's account but I (Jade Erickson) handle the reviews lol...well 90% of the time. Even as I'm writing this review, we are still eating...btw, I never do but this is the exception!! Ok synopsis, great ambiance, wonderful staff and one of THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN KOH SAMUI!! Cafe 69 is such a gem!❤

The food here is really really good. We vacationed though central, northern, and southern Thailand and this is undoubtedly one of our favorite places to eat in Thailand. The food is inventive, playful, and modern, but it still tastes and looks like Thai food.

We were in Koh Samui for eight days and decided to eat here for the second time on our last night. The staff is great. The owner is very nice. And the food is actually very good and interesting. It has a twist for sure. You may want to stick with several starters. Great place. Recommend it!

  • 5/5 Lady A. 5 years ago on Google
Always enjoyable dining here. A cozy restaurant with chic design. Owner cum chef is friendly. Staff is attentive. Great fusion and creative food served that were tasty. All appetizers served were finger-licking like duck dumplings, mango green curry puff and soft-shell crab rolls. Main dishes like duck curry with rice, the king prawn pasta, black pepper soft shell crab and fried snapper were all mouth watering dishes that would surely satisfy one's taste buds. The drinks creation was nice try too. Prices set were reasonable. Love that it meets expectations all times. Recommended for frequent visits.
