Review for the restaurant not the hotel, awful food, terrible service, Pineapple fried rice and bottle of water almost 400 baht with added VAT and service fee. Service fee is a joke, more staff then customers and no one asked about my meal. Went to the desk myself to pay, when questioned about service fee staff just laughed. Huge tourist trap

I noticed that almost all bad reviews are only for the restaurant, but the hotel should be rated separately. And also the buffet breakfast which we had there was very good. Great location, right in the middle of Fisherman village, the night market starts right next to it too. Bungalows are Thailand style, clean and towels are getting changed very often. Only minus that there are many little ants and you can't leave any food or drinks. But it's almost everywhere in Samui. The pools are clean and beautiful, surrounded by trees and flowers. The place is quiet at night.

Odd that it lists this as a restaurant, as it's a hotel as well. Anyway our stay here has been great. Hot water heater in the bathroom is not awesome. Staff is friendly and the room (villa) has everything you could need. Could use an update in the bathroom, pool is nice (there is another we haven't used). Not much more you could ask for. Bang for the buck this is a great spot. Location is perfect!!!

Cannot even leave the hotel with my motorcycle between 18:00 and 22:00 because of the walking street market, it's horrible! You should state in the booking information that your hotel is inaccessible for almost the whole evening everyday, if i would've known this i would never have booked here. Rooms are ok exept my shower is broken and i need to hold it.

Great original southern foods. Good location and you can park at hotel just opposite. Beach is nice here. Restaurant is at Fisherman village walking street.

Our experience unfortunately wasn't great. We waited nearly 2 hours before our food came out, when it did nothing came together, half our party had eaten and finished before anyone else got there food. Drinks also took a long time to get to us. It was not the waiters fault and unfortunately they took alot of the flack on the night from alot of people. Maybe this restaurant needs to reduce its table numbers so if can be more efficient in general, it came across as being abit greedy and couldn't keep up with the demand. The table next to us also had the same experience, however said they came a few days previously and it was lovely so maybe they just had a bad day! But this did put us off returning.

We had a really great time at Smile house, we had two villas (2 bedroom and superior villa) for 4 adults and 2 kids and it was spacious, comfortable, clean and the staff were very helpful. There are two pools, one quite large, and the other one has afternoon shade which was good with kids. The location is fantastic, right on the beach (just a road in between) and lots of cafes and restaurants around. We later stayed in Chaweng which was not nearly as nice as Fisherman’s village. Also breakfast was good, and massages next door was nice.

Service and food were Rally good. We really enjoyed the food. But it was definitely overpriced, be careful the price displayed are less tax. Total for 4 dishes we paid AUD$100 which is almost the same price as any European countries.

Nice sitting area on the beach but 2 large beer for nearly 15 Euro is way too much, in Thailand. In the menu they don't display clearly that they add two fees on the price. Go somewhere else.

This place is the best hotel we could take in Samui island. The two bedroom suite is big for a 5 person family (with 1 extra bed), the prices are good, there is a night market right next door on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The staff is lovely, good breakfast, two nice pools, and great large porch with 4 chairs. We loved it!!!

Worst place we’ve been to in the whole of Koh Samui island. Terrible service and high prices for awful quality products - drinks were watered down and tasted bad. The worst part is that an extra 17% fee is added to the bill, which is ludicrous as not only this is not the case in any other restaurant here, but service fee should be optional, based on staff’s performance (which was awful, as mentioned above). Avoid this place, there are many other nice options around.

The setup is nice and the food was yummy the flavours oozed out. The best part about this place is that it has a lovely cat who is super friendly and she sit right outside on the bench and hoards of people come and love her. Meow 😸

Awesome location is the reason for the 2 stars. Mediocre food and it was cold. Also insanely overpriced, but that’s to be expected for beachfront in Fisherman’s Village. Beef Massaman was decent, but the Tom kha goong had no flavour. If you want to eat overlooking or literally on the beach, I’m sure there are better options. I regret going here.

Mixed bag. Had good tuna sandwich and stir fry veg and rice. The pizza is NOT good. Service charge quite steep. Nice location.

As a hotel it was a good stay, the shower could do with updating and a deep clean would help. The pool area was great and the hotel staff lovely but it all changes when you cross the road to the restaurant the staff are rude and make you feel unwelcome. The food was awful had to send our starter back as it was cold/ not cooked back, instead of redoing it was put in the microwave and pinged. The bill came and VAT and a service charge are added, so not the price you think when you look at menu.

We came from a “5-star” hotel in Lamai and we were given a warmer welcome a better service and a hotel with great energy, beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. Fisherman’s village is also an amazing place to stay. Thank you for a wonderful time.

We absolutely loved this resort and it gets five stars from us - we had a really comfortable and enjoyable stay and feel so refreshed. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade upon arrival to a deluxe room and we had a beautifully spacious room with a fridge, very comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom. The air con was great and kept us nice and cool. The staff were brilliant and kept our room spotlessly clean and replenished our towels. The hotel has two really nice big pool areas with lots of loungers and shade and the beach is across the road and a short walk away with stunning views of Ko Phangan. The resort is close to lots of bars and restaurants with so much choice. The breakfast provided was the only downside and was average. We would have loved to have had some Thai options and a bit more variety, but the fruit was really good. The grounds of this resort are so beautifully kept and the staff work hard to ensure that everything is beautifully maintained. We would come back and stay here in a heartbeat. A wonderful resort.

Fantastic resort in the heart of Fisherman’s Village. We loved our bungalow and the ability to walk from our room to the many restaurants in Bophut. Pools are excellent, and beach is well maintained. Highly recommend all travelers look into staying at Smile House when visiting Ko Samui!

Our villa has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The terrace is deep and wide and overlooks the second of two pools with a shrubbery screen. Aircon marvellous but needed! Restaurant serves varied breakfasts. Both pools fantastic. Grandchildren love it here. We are in Low Season so not at all crowded. Don't be put off by threats of rain - only one very heavy downpour lasting 35 , minutes so far!

I don't know if they were having a bad night in the kitchen, but most of the food (apart from the soup) came out too cold. Obviously sat at service for way too long. Even the sticky rice was cold. My partner said the soup was nice and spicy, unfortunately one dish doesn't make a meal. It looked good, it's a shame. Another couple just ahead of us had similar issues. To be fair, the serving staff were very good and apologetic about the situation.

If you are not fussy with food this is not a bad place to dine in. Atmosphere is there. However food is underwhelming, overpriced and didn't meet our expectations at all.

Nice location and staff..... however.... paid top dollar but no tv for 3 nights..... just weak excuses when all other establishments all around had service..... that is the way it is.... like it or not....mmmmm?

The most expensive dinner we had in the 4 month of travel in Thailand, prices look fine on the menu, but we were hit with a 500bht service charge. We’ve eaten at 4 other restaurants along that street all beach front, and never been hit with this 500bht charge.

Thai food is on the good side of average. The rest is hardly worth of a school canteen. The "salmon mango" is just that: the fish isn't marinated nor served with a sauce made of the savoury fruit, it's just dry salmon with bits of mango on top. Conclusion : don't waste THB500 on Western dishes and stick to the THB250 (hence still massively overpriced) local stuff

I love this hotel. The owner and his daughter are simply beautiful people who pride themselves in raking care of their guests. Thank you again to all the wonderful staff! I can't wait to come back.

Nice large place but very much focused on tourist so if you are looking for authentic this is not the place. With that said, food/service/location were all good but prices are almost double (not with it). Fried chili fish was way to sweet but the pineapple fried rice (this is what they are known for) was just ok. If you are nervous about local eating & don’t mind to pay a little more I would recommend this place. If you are looking for a little more authentic experience I would keep walking & find a smaller place.

The restaurant offers great views and moderate, fair prices. There are two levels, a terrace and a beach level. We sat at the beach level and enjoyed the view direct on the beach seeing the world pass by. I had a tofu green curry, which was a very big portion with steamed rice. My partner had fish in yellow curry which also comes with steamed rice and said it was very nice and no bones. Staff are very quick and very nice. Great service overall. With two drinks the final bill came to 780 baht.

I had dinner one time yesterday. The flavour of the food is not bad but small amount of food and the price was too high (may reasonable for foreign tourist). Location was good on the beach.

We didn't stay in the hotel, so review is valid only for our experience in the restaurant only. This is a huge restaurant by the beach and we were hoping to be impressed by the food but like most of the things in Samui, we were disappointed. The wine selection was below average, the service quality was poor. The food was just okay. We ate our dinner with the waiters and waitresses looking directly at our table and gossiping about us. It's a good thing to easily be able to establish an eye contact with a waiter when you're at a restaurant but not like this, there should be some kind of a distance of privacy as well. And the prices were above average despite the quality you get.

I think the place is rated well at 3.5 but given the competition in the area would go elsewhere. Our calamari was rubber. The prawns were OK. The massaman was nice but a bit greasy. The prices are very high because of the location. The service is very average.
