An
absolutely
wonderful
find
in
Kobe
that
I
wasn't
expecting
to
find.
I'm
a
tiki
lover
myself,
but
I
wasn't
expecting
to
really
find
a
tiki
bar
outside
of
Tokyo,
until
we
stubbled
across
their
sign.
This
place
was
quite
the
highlight
of
our
day.
After
dealing
with
many
rude
locals
all
day
long
that
made
my
wife
and
I
feel
very
unwelcome
in
Kobe
(something
we
have
yet
to
experience
elsewhere),
it
was
wonderful
to
finally
find
a
place
that
wasn't
going
to
treat
us
with
suspicion.
A
beacon
of
hospitality
in
a
city
that
seems
to
be
sorely
lacking,
ironic
for
the
"city
of
love".
Brandon
(the
owner)
is
a
very
kind
man
who
was
glad
to
let
my
wife
and
I
talk
his
ear
off
about
his
life
in
Japan
and
his
tiki
bar.
He
even
let
me
look
through
one
of
his
books
while
we
were
there.
He
was
not
only
very
nice
to
my
wife
and
I,
but
he's
also
good
at
sticking
up
for
his
neighbours.
When
we
mentioned
how
the
Mexican
food
we've
seen
in
Japan
looks
dreadful
(sorry,
we
live
in
Southern
California)
he
told
us
about
a
nearby
mezcal
bar
nearby.
I've
never
been
at
a
bar
and
been
given
good
suggestions
for
nearby
competing
bars
by
the
actual
owner
before.
The
bar
itself
is
very
nicely
decorated.
It's
impressive
they
can
make
it
feel
so
tiki
in
a
space
that
feels
tiny
compared
to
bars
in
America.
There's
even
a
little
projector
playing
old
movies
that
inspired/were
inspired
tiki
culture.
The
drinks
were
top
notch
too,
the
best
I've
had
so
far.
The
menu
has
a
section
of
the
most
classic
tiki
drinks,
modern
classics,
and
a
few
of
their
originals.
My
wife
and
I
had
a
Kazan
Grog
and
Sakura
Sling
to
try
their
originals
and
they
were
sublime.
I
wish
I
had
taken
a
picture,
but
I
drank
it
too
fast!
For
our
second
round
we
each
wanted
some
classics,
so
we
ordered
a
Zombie
and
a
Jet
Pilot
(pictured)
and
you
can
taste
the
level
of
respect
Brandon
has
for
tiki
culture
and
history.
One
of
the
best
tiki
experiences
I've
ever
had,
even
compared
to
some
of
the
legendary
tiki
bars
I've
visited
back
in
America.
If
I
could
give
this
place
10/5
stars,
I
would.
Our
other
experiences
with
locals
and
shop/restaurant
owners
really
turned
us
off
from
Kobe,
but
this
bar
alone
might
be
able
to
convince
me
to
visit
Kobe
again
if
we
get
the
opportunity.
