I visited the place in one day. My conclusion is you need 2 or even 3 days. Not because Kikuseidai itself, there's a path for who lives hiking/cycling will enjoy a lot. Even with a bus line I decided to walk for almost 5 km and see some places which demand time and a good physical condition (OK I'm a really lazy for distance higher than 1 km). Please keep in mind to check any combo (I paid for bus tickets but there are a offer which give you pass on bus, but I didn't know). Also, I used Google maps 5here a lot and there are places 4g signal was not available.

Despite it is a little expensive, the view up there is spetacular. Be prepared for the strong and cold wind up there during spring time. Check on weather forecast too before deciding to go up. Now there are 2 busline will stop at maya cable station. One is the usual bus no18 that u can ride from sannomiya station, another one is saka bus which did not pass by sannomiya. For saka bus, we can still go back to osaka with hankyu line at hankyu ojikeon station but only the normal train which stops at all station along the route and slower. If it is not too crowded, i will still suggest to use bus no 18. From sannomiya station, at least you can choose from hanshin line, hankyu express, or JR line.

Breathtaking night view! Top three night view in Japan. Amazing night view worth to visit. Check the sunset time, and get to the mountain before the sunset to enjoy the beautiful sunset and night view. Beware the cable car schedule, operate at night only on weekend days. Temperature is lower because the altitude, it's better to keep warm even in summer. There is a coffee shop, you can enjoy the night view there also, especially when it's cold outside. If the weather is good, it's able to see kansai airport. I gave it 5 stars. Highly recommend to visit.

The scene of Kobe city is incredibly fantastic. Especially, if you wait until sunset, you may see the golden sky with golden city. You can access here both by hiking and by cable car.

View is just as they said, epic! But dress warm cuz it does get cold up there fast! We had to come down at 5:30 since that was the last cable car. Good news was not that many people since it was a shorter day. Highly recommended for those that would want to come and visit.

It was a bit foggy when we visited but the view is still amazing. I would love to come back on a day with clear weather!

Visited today before sunset. Great view to both Osaka and Kobe cities from the top of the mountains.

As my friend Samuel said, it is a 10 million dollars view indeed! If you are in Kobe, it is a must to visit.

Wasn't crowded on a weekday night. Quite a walk from the carpark. Many youngsters gathering and smoking there. So wasn't exactly a very good experience but the night scenery was great. Photos don't do justice.

Climbing to maya mountain is fun. It tooks 2-3 hours for me.

The view was fantastic. We enjoyed staying the time at the observation deck with the view at sunset until dark. The cable and train was quite full and we have to wait for sometime, but overall speaking, it's worthy. I have to say it's not convenient as we need to take a bus from the train station (instead of walking), but it's not that bad. The service of the cable car and mountain train station were very friendly.

Worth the 40 mins drive up the hill to experience one of the three most stunning night view of Japan! The car park up there is closed permanently, there is a closest car park (¥500 each time) near the temple, it's a 10 minutes walk from the car park to the viewing point. Would be quite windy and cold up there, prepare yourself with a hot drink from the vending machine.

Beautiful view. There’s a wait for the parking if you come by car.

I went here in late August! I went early in the morning to see the sunrise, and since there weren’t many people, it was nice! Despite being August, it was a bit chilly in the late night and early morning, even with a hoody. The view I saw was overwhelmingly beautiful compared to the photos I took. There’s a parking lot nearby. The toilets around were dirty, so it’s better to go to other washrooms before getting here.

Fantastic view. You should visit at night! Although I visited there in summer, it was cold at night.

If you're in Kobe and plan to visit Rokkosan, consider transportation options and try this spot. The view at night was superb.

The Kikuseidai offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Kobe City. The floor also sparkles with ultraviolet light, which was very neat. We drove up on a clear night and the view was just stunning. Since it’s located on the mountain, however, access can be challenging. Driving is recommended. You can also take the public bus or the tram, but availability may be limited. The nearest parking lot is around 10 minutes away and charges ¥500 / use. We visited late at night and noticed that most visitors just parked right next to the gate instead of inside the parking lot. The washroom there can definitely take some improvement.
