The church dedicated for St Paul was built around 1850. Unfortunately, now it is not well maintained and it is opened as a museum since the Christians were wiped out long ago from Turkey. It is part of the UNESCO temporary world heritage list. It is nice to visit but I expected to see a more maintain and nicer surrounding of the church.

It is a practicing church. They do have service here... out side is a walking area with columns and other symbols of the past. Beautiful in it's own right. Parking in front

It is not known if there were any churches established by Paul in Tarsus, but in 1704, P. Lucas wrote that there was a Roman style church which had been built by Saint Paul. V. Langlois visited Tarsus in 1851 and confirmed this. In his words, thick walls which resembled Roman style windows which are narrower outside than inside, and thick columns are noticeable, but no other records exist to substantiate this claim.

Honestly as a cultural traveler I expected more to see in this church but it was just a normal church with a very specific history

While it is a historical site to visit in Tarsus, it unfortunately suffers from lack of proper funding.

Fairly anticlimactic Church built in the 1800's. But very inexpensive if you are in the area

Tarsus is Reported as being the Birth Place of Saint Paul. The Church was interesting and as reported in Guide Books not that Special. There are some Painted Frescoes in The Domed Roof. If you are Religious, I am sure you will find this Place uplifting.

We visited this church as part of our trip to Tarsus, visiting various religious sites in Turkey. The cost to get in was 15 lira and quite honestly not worth it. St Paul has never been here, it is simply s church supposed to be dedicated to St Paul. The church is set in an enclosed area with a small garden and a seating area, with a few old pots scattered around. The church itself is so disappointing, just a shell, with a few chairs inside. We ended up getting lost trying to find it from where we parked, but I really would not say it is necessary to go there

To visit here was one of the purposes of our vacation. We were so happy to be able to see this beautiful church and have a few minutes of worship here.

Beautiful stone church with a local flavour. Four stars because of the area. You will find a strong contrast between the building and the courtyard and neighborhood. In fact, Tarsus is a typical oriental city with its own life. You can visit it up to 19.00, but you mist to pay a fee for entrance since it became museum.

Museum. No real church. Christians were wiped out long ago.

Waste of time and money. Nothing to do with Paul. Not even a museum. Just an old Church.

If you are around do visit it. Otherwise, not so much to be seen. The place is nice, maybe if you would listen to a nice story it will be fantastic.

Interesting “old” church which was built in mid 1800’s and dedicated to St. Paul.
