Head Taunsa barrage was opened in 1958. It is 4360 feet long single carriage road on it. It is declared as wildlife heritage. 4 canals are carried out from it . On river Indus. I visited after a long time, I saw there are many new things and also felt new taste in provided dishes. Now, The bridge is being more beautiful due to smog and water as well. There is a beautiful view at evening at the bank of the Tounsa barrage.

Visited this place in 2015 and it was a fantastic visit. When we returned from here unfortunately a rain storm started and it become very difficult to drive in that rain. There was a canal road on which we tarveled and the storm was so heavy that it felt like someone fetching the buckets of water from canal and pouring on us, we can not see the road in our car. Fortunately there come a bus from behind us and we followed that bus and reached our destination successfully. Thanx to Allah Almighty.

Indeed this is a beautiful picnic place for one day trip.There are few good and well maintained resturants and tourists' spots.But the river bank is not clean and grabage is destroying the beautyof this place.Sadly you will find plastic bottles and lays packets floating in the water.

A bridge on Indus River with a very massive barrage spread along 1.36 KM and controls over a Million Cusec water. This bridge also have a small opening for providing a safe passage to navigation Ships across the river from upstream to downstream. This bridge is also a connection between two major pieces of land across river. A train track is also passing through this. This was constructed in 1958.

Whenever i visit taunsa kot addu or DG khan a must go place for me is Head Taunsa Barrage because of its delicate and delicious taste of Jhalli fish. It's owsome. The shops of fish fry are of not.that standard but usually the head works have the same type shops all over punjab. A recreational place is also established here. For fish eating avoid Akram Machli Wala, he charges more than double of the market rate, neighborhood shops are good. i.e. majeed fish and others.
