Background:
I
had
intense
lower
abdominal
pain
(right
side)
at
night
with
no
fever
or
vomiting
(just
nausea).
In
the
morning,
the
pain
reduced
greatly
and
there
were
no
other
symptoms,
I
even
had
breakfast
with
my
family.
I
decided
to
go
to
a
clinic
(Klinik
Mediviron)
because
we
wanted
to
understand
the
cause
of
the
pain
that
occurred
at
night.
The
doctor
there
was
like
"it's
definitely
appendicitis"
***without
even
clinically
examining
me***.
And
what's
worst?
She
injected
a
high
dose
painkiller.
My
entire
left
arm
became
paralyzed,
it
started
hurting
like
hell.
I
even
told
her
"last
night
my
pain
was
awfully
terrible
but
right
now
I'm
not
feeling
that
bad,
I
drove
to
this
clinic
and
I
can
walk
too".
She
was
like
"No,
I
can't
let
you
out
of
this
clinic
without
the
injection".
She
referred
me
to
a
hospital
because
she
said
"I
don't
do
ultrasound
here
so
you
need
to
go
to
the
hospital
and
get
it
done"!
Okay
so
I
came
to
Columbia
Asia,
Setapak
(just
to
be
on
the
safe
side
-
to
do
the
ultrasound).
There
they
took
me
to
the
"emergency".
Did
urine
test,
inserted
IV
etc.
The
attending
doctor
did
clinic
examination
(aka
poking
the
abdomen)
but
I
felt
nothing
(no
pain
whatsoever).
He
was
like
"Ummm,
the
pain
is
being
masked
by
the
high
dose
of
painkiller
that's
running
in
your
veins".
However,
he
refused
to
do
the
ultrasound
stating
that
if
won't
be
effective
in
determining
whether
or
not
I
have
appendicitis.
So
he
suggested
a
CT
scan
WITH
CONTRAST
to
get
a
**yes/no**
for
appendicitis.
But
that
was
another
drama.
He
mentioned
such
side
effects
you
can't
imagine
e.g.
swollen
face,
kidney
failure;
I
understand
explaining
side
effects
but
there
is
a
proper
way
of
doing
that
rather
than
scaring
an
already
freaked-out
patient.
But
we
had
to
give
in
because
he
was
like
there's
no
other
way
of
finding
out.
Finally
we
had
to
wait
for
the
reports.
The
attending
doctor
came
to
me
and
said
"the
reports
indicate
that
you
have
early
stage
appendicitis
so
you
need
to
be
operated
immediately
to
avoid
appendix
rapture".
The
surgeon
was
called
urgently.
Throughout
the
process,
basically
all
these
hours,
the
attending
doctor
was
extremely
demotivating
and
scary
with
dialogues
such
as
'it
needs
to
be
urgently
done
otherwise
your
appendix
will
rapture
and
your
organs
will
fail
one-by-one'
Then
the
surgeon
came
and
he
was
an
amazing
person.
He
clinically
examined
me
(same
thing:
he
poked
my
abdomen)
and
he
was
surprised
to
observe
that
I
have
no
pain
and
my
abdomen
isn't
hurting
at
all
by
poking.
So
he
said
"you
don't
need
to
be
operated".
However,
the
only
complaint
I
have
is
that
he
covered
up
the
'mess'
of
the
attending
doctor
(rather
radiologist)
by
justifying
the
CT
scan.
Conclusion:
Columbia
Asia
is
all
about
money
or
extreme
incompetency!
After
getting
over
the
trauma
(still
not
completely
over
it),
I
read
a
lot
about
appendicitis.
The
pain
DOES
NOT
reduce,
it's
progressive.
I
told
the
attending
doctor
about
the
fact
that
my
pain
was
intense
at
night
but
now
it
is
alright.
Yet,
he
clinically
examined
me
and
predicted
appendicitis
-
fine,
maybe
the
pain
was
being
masked
by
the
painkiller
but
that's
the
distinctive
thing
about
appendicitis,
poking
should
have
hurt
me
anyway.
I'm
100%
sure
the
CT
scan
(with
contrast)
wasn't
required
-
that
was
all
about
money.
Especially
when
he
clearly
said
you'll
get
a
yes/no
from
it
but
the
report
was
ambiguous:
"probable
early
borderline
acute
appendicitis
with
possible
perforation,
clinical
correlation
recommended"
-
seriously,
if
clinical
correlation
is
recommended,
that
is
all
that's
needed.
I
was
saved
from
a
not-needed
surgery
due
to
the
competency
(more
importantly,
honesty)
of
the
surgeon.
Otherwise,
the
attending
doctor
had
me
all
prepared
for
a
surgery
of
appendix
removal
i.e.
taking
another
25,000
RM
from
me
in
addition
to
the
RM
2,500
he
billed
me.
I
cannot
get
over
the
trauma
that
right
now
I
could
have
had
a
stitched
tummy
with
no
appendix
-
image
all
that
pain
and
recovery
time.
ONLY
due
to
incompetency
of
the
attending
doctor
(and
the
radiologist).
