The best veg curry I had in Sri Lanka! It was worth waiting 45 min for it while being super hungry. So come earlier if you don’t want to wait too long for your dinner as it does get busy.

Best food I had so far in Sri Lanka. Small family run place in the home of the owner, tragically located in this slighty of the track area after a gas explosion destroyed the restaurant location at the beach front a few years ago. They are saving up to rebuild but business is difficult away from the tourist Hotspots. Huge recommendation to got eat there, support these kind people and enjoy incredible dishes for a very fair price!

Kotthu and vegetable rice and curry were outstanding. Huge portions but a small and popular restaurant. Go to the tiki bar next door for a drink while you wait.

Good food, great view. We really enjoyed the curry, flavoured well and with a novel dish, which is rare after three weeks in the country. The garlic shrimp dish was less of a success; the sweet and sour sauce was distinctly reminiscent of mediocre "Chinese" restaurants back home. That said, a couple of the devilled dishes I've had had the same flavour profile, so not deducting a star - it probably tastes as it should, just not my cup of tea. (Which reminds me, the pot of tea was very generously sized, nice touch.)

We had a great group meal here, with 10 of us heading over from our hostel. The chicken masssaman curry three of us shared was superb!

Chef akila is lovely and cooks so good, we ate the nasi goreng ,chicken masaman, and the green salad, pasta calamari, rice and curry and all of them were great 10/10 we became regular customers, also chef akila is very nice and explain about the food and how he make it. Beautiful view to the jungle beach and awesome vibe. Definitely recommended!!

If you've not heard of chef Akila near Welligama now you have.. and trust me when I say it's a truly inspirational dining experience. Extremely high quality fresh ingredients prepared in an open kitchen and served at his home. Small but amazing menu , we've been dining here daily ticking off the list of dishes. Massamam curry is to die for, the salad will exolode in your mouth its stunning with homemade passionfruit dressing so vibrant, the prawn dishes are exceptional. This is not your average restaurant that everyone is going to on the main roads beside the beach, it's a short scooter ride from the main street and worth every minute to get there. Do yourself a favour and try something special. Prices are a reasonable 700-2.5k considering the quality your getting. Akila and his family are also really genuine and friendly locals. His restaurant in Welligana burnt down and he's running out if the family home. Thanks mate see you again soon Akila 😁

It’s a small, calm place with a nice view over the ocean. We ordered 2 curry portions with rice and a salad. We waited a bit for a food but it was great and portions were surprisingly big- 1 would be enough for 2. Try it if you have a chance.
