A trip to very quickly forget, with an absolutely disastrous and mind numbing check-in experience. Never in my 25 years of traveling have I been treated so poorly! After the front desk girl repeatedly tries to convince me that I did not make my reservation in my own name but under the name "Rob" somehow, things quickly went south from there. Not only did she not apologize for her own mistake, she doubled and tripled down instead, telling me that I should be contacting Expedia even after admitting that her own staff made a manual entry mistake. Then she refused to give me the dedicated parking spot that was booked upon reservation before refusing to speak to me altogether because I was not wearing a mask. The entire scene felt like a weird dream. The room was super tiny and not clean. On the first morning, the maid popped in super early, and woke us up yelling "was it you who asked for more toilet paper?" before slamming the door without and apology. Anyway, best to look elsewhere...

There was absolutely no soap in the bathroom. Both dispensers were fully empty meaning that no one even check that when the room was cleaned. We arrived around 1 am, we informed the reception (he was super nice I have to say) but there was no soap available. The first thing u want to do after a long drive is to wash your hands, and before going to bed, either have a shower or wash your face...

It will be lovely when finished. Renovations are happening right above our heads on the 3rd floor that were not disclosed on website when booking. We were looking for a quiet getaway, booked this hotel for that specific reason, and unfortunately did not find it. Front desk staff very nice and helpful re local recommendations, breakfast staff lovely & accommodating, and cleaning staff lovely as well. They all tolerated my spouse's attempts to practice French 😉 and all had English, and were very chatty and personable. It is in a great location to explore the town on foot, which we did not long after arriving and stayed out for a good few hours exploring La Rochelle. Very glad to see the kettle in the room - we cannot be without our tea 🇮🇪. Having cups would have been handy as there were only glasses, and boiling water can crack glass. We used our travel mugs. Breakfast (delivered to me in bed by my love ☺️) was delicious fruit, juice, yoghurt, and crepe w chocolate spread. Our room on the 2nd floor was recently updated but not completely finished - phone not working (could not reach front desk), no smoke detector, no bar to hang clothes /no hangers, not enough hooks in bathroom, exhaust fan didn't seem to work (but could be a silent/passive one some places have). The tile headboard is absolutely gorgeous, and the full wall blackout curtains greatly appreciated. It will be beautiful when finished but they probably should have waited to reopen until it was. When we arrived yest we could not rest after a full day traveling because of the drilling and hammering overhead. We were told they would not start working again until 10a this morning but they started 930a. Not what you want on a holiday in a place you are paying to relax in. Returning when all construction is done will be grand I'm sure. We do understand "every place has to be updated at some stage" as the man at the desk told me when I went down to inquire re the noise (as the phone wasn't working), but we would have appreciated knowing this in advance to make a better informed decision for this trip. We booked the Romance room package - the rose was beautifully presented with great attention to detail, the macaroons are not something I usually like but the chocolate ones were gorgeous, we did not redeem the 1/2 bottle champagne, and the towel sculptures were nicely done. Would love to return when all work and updates completed for a relaxing stay.

Great hotel located close to all the attractions of La Rochelle. Rooms are very clean and modern even though the exterior looks old. Highly recommended. Friendly and helpful staff

Excellent service at this lovely little hotel in the heart of La Rochelle. The staff were courteous and accommodating, and the breakfast far exceeded my expectations! (Lots of gluten-free options and fresh, local products.)

We stayed here for a few days and it was quite pleasant as the hotel was clean and the room was decent size. The staff was accommodating and helpful and the hotel was quaint. It’s worth a stay if you’re looking for a place.

Lovely hotel, very friendly and efficient staff. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because there was no chest of drawers in our room.

Decided on a different hotel for this visit and delighted we did. The hotel was refurbished this year. I was upgraded to a new room, which was stylish and clean. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Located very close to the harbour and bars and restaurants. Breakfast is excellent. Highly recommend this beautiful gem in La Rochelle.

We booked 1 night and ended up staying 4. What a great hotel. Staff is super kind and at your service at all times. Our room was comfortable, the bed great. Showering in the bathtub really was our only negative. The hotel offers a gym facility, a car park, a nice little terrace, and just has a great vibe. Breakfast is outstanding with a variety of whatever you want, from almond milk to scrambled eggs, to fresh fruit, to all things tasty. The hotel is located in the city centre, though not in the hysterical part. It is near a small square with some nice restaurants (just around the corner). We would recommend it to anyone.

For us, the hotel did not represent good value for money. The breakfast was great and the bed was comfortable. The town centre location was also very convenient, although really noisy all through the night. Having air conditioning was a huge advantage as we could keep the windows closed which did block out quite a lot of noise. The staff in the breakfast room were friendly and polite. However, not all of the receptionists were polite and attentive. On one occasion, I stood for a couple of minutes waiting for a young woman to look up from her paperwork when I went to reception. She then acted as though I had startled her!!! There was another receptionist who spoke back to me in English when I spoke French. When I insisted on speaking French, he addressed me using 'tu' instead of 'vous' - presumably just to be rude and disrespectful.

Well located hotel in quartier St Nicolas. Access to restaurants and the port 1 minute away. Hotel has a fee-paying parking. Staff is very nice. Room was fine, the bedding/pillows/mattress could have been better

The staffs are nice and the 12€ breakfast is great. However, during the pandemic, there’s no basic cleaning during our stays. We need to take the dirty towels to the reception and to ask for the toilet paper during our stays. The room is not big but it’s not far from the central and from the train station.

Very nice hotel with secure parking. Staff were really good, and helped us by speaking excellent English! Felt very friendly overall. Breakfast was a nice choice but did get a little busy at times. Outside areas could be improved a little, but no complaints really - I would stay here again.

excellent value for money. However I did request a bottle of champagne to be in our room upon our arrival but was disappointed to see that it was not provided. Upon checking with reception they informed me they had no record of my request.
