Fabulous Historical Palace This is Annecy's most famous building. It is beautiful and very scenic. Highly recommend coming here to visit. Note I personally feel it is nicer in the evening once lit than

Island of Stories. Palais de l’Île is the building Annecy uses to tell its own story. Once saved from demolition and listed as a historic monument in 1900, it has become the old town’s emblem, printed on brochures, fridge magnets and “Venice of the Alps” posters. Inside, the former audience rooms and cell blocks now house the city’s architecture and heritage centre, with models, plans and temporary exhibitions about how Annecy grew around its canals. The museum route leads you through damp former prison cells at water level and back up into well-lit galleries, so the contrast between punishment and interpretation is hard to miss. In a compact space, you move from medieval stronghold to modern heritage brand in a few rooms.
