The Baume-les-Messieurs waterfall is one of the most beautiful examples of tufa waterfalls. Fed by the Dard stream, which springs forth at the bottom of the valley, its form varies with the seasons. In winter, it may appear petrified by frost, in the shoulder seasons it is in flood, and in summer it showcases lush greenery. The tufa is formed by limestone carried by the water, which gradually deposits on the rocks and plants that form the waterfall. A large free parking area for buses and cars is nearby. There is a souvenir shop, a refreshment stand with a terrace, a pergola, shelters, and a large grassy area for groups wishing to picnic. The waterfall is accessible free of charge year-round. The flow is strongest in spring; in summer, there is very little water.

Nice place, but we were there late in August, with no water at all. I came from Finland to make longexposure photos from cascades. Maybe next time with water. This place is so beautiful with all rocks. Mamy rocks are full of faces. How many did you find.
