Idumota market is also a part of the wider Lagos Island market. This marketplace is where you you can buy products such as school bags, backpacks, luggage boxes, clothing materials, women wears and shoes, and of course things from petite road hawkers. This marketplace is always heavily crowded, noisy, and full of traffics. Visitors are advised to be courteous, vigilant, be aware of the surroundings as there are area boys everywhere, make use of nose mask as there's dust and smoke. Idumota market is relatively a nice place to visit and buy products at extremely low prices.

The picture here represents the calm before the chaos. Idumota market is not for the faint hearted. Be ready to haggle price, move from one vendor to another in your quest for best price. And most importantly, hold your personal belongings closely. It could get snatched if you're careless. Lots of foot traffic and over-enthusiastic sellers do it's best to go with a friend who knows the market well. I enjoy my visits here. I consider it an enjoyable experience when I have the time. I give it a 4 star because parking can be hell.

Been going here for years and buying has become easy and fast for me. If you do not know what area a particular thing is sold you will find more information on Google than from the sellers there. Note that there are 3 types of sellers in the market, the wholesalers, retailers and road side sellers, find the wholesalers and buy very cheap(they also retail), avoid road side sellers, they buy from wholesalers in the same market, they are expensive and would never tell you where to find the wholesalers.

If you can, avoid going to Idumota market on a rainy day. Not only will the traffic congestion frustrate you, the many constructions going on in and around the market add to the frustrations of market goers. Nevertheless, Idumota is home to everything you need. Go with an experienced person if it’s your first time in the market. It will save you from being extorted. Big shops don’t imply quality products. Do your research. My main frustration was finding the BRT bus terminal that would take me out of the market. Had to resort to one of the danfo buses around. Yes, the taxis are ridiculously pricey and only ply certain destinations.

Idumota Market is a bustling and vibrant hub of commerce in the heart of Lagos. The energy and diversity of goods here are unmatched. You can find just about anything you need, from clothing and accessories to fresh produce and electronics. The market's atmosphere is lively and full of local culture. It's a unique opportunity to experience the true essence of Lagos. The traders are friendly and always ready to assist. However, it's essential to be cautious with your belongings and be prepared for crowds. Navigating the narrow aisles can be a bit overwhelming, but it's all part of the experience. If you're looking for a taste of Lagos' authentic market scene and a chance to discover some unique treasures, Idumota Market is the place to be. Just be ready for a lively and bustling adventure

The biggest commodity market in Lagos, where everything and anything you need is sold at an affordable price. Go with someone that know the route or use Google maps to find your way around the market. Things are sold in sections and everything has their own location

Chai! Let me first exclaim. The fact that I don't really go out makes visiting this place a drag. One of the most high in traffic places you'll ever be in Lagos. With almost every space occupied by one small business or the other, you'll hardly walk 2 feet before you collide with someone or they collide with you. It's a dog eat dog location where you have to shine your eyes at all times. If you are not the type that can handle stress, this is not the market to be because you are sure to get a share of the stress from this place when you visit. Talk about buying various kinds of products, especially fabrics, clothes and jewelries...this is the finest spots you can go for the right price especially if you are retailer.

You can practically find everything here. It is one of the biggest markets in Lagos, dare to say in Nigeria as well. However, when you are coming to the market. You need to be ready because chances are, you would walk around a lot. Different items are on different sides, so ensure to come ready. Also, secure your bag properly. Because you shouldn't suspect everyone, but sometimes touts and pickpockets can be around and they can pick up things without your knowledge. So please, be aware. Coming in your car can be great. But parking is an issue, hence it's always advisable to come in a taxi which comes and goes or risk wasting time looking for a safe place to park. The choice is yours.😅 And before I forget, for a good shopping experience, ensure to get there early enough. Because the earlier the better. Leaving earlier too allows you get to your destination on time. Overall, it is a fantastic place to shop. For the few times I've been there, I always get unique and affordable things. Will I return? Of course, I will.

This market! Only an energetic person can successfully shop here, with lots of varieties to pick from, you will definitely find items of different quality available. Narrow road networks, so the parking space is separated from the main market, you have to trek a bit from the parking lot to access the main shopping arena. Ensure you keep your bags well secured as well.

The Market is very big and you can easily get lost, but try asking directions from people selling in shops, if you ask directions from the boys on the street telling you that they have it in thief shop, energy will take you to the shop, bit you might end up buying what you bought 3 time expensive, out they will take you on a long distance trek before you reach there and you might not see what you wants, this two things ara bound to happen. So if you are list all directions from people selling inside the shop or other buyers or sellers of drinks and food items.

The popular Idumota market is located in the central hub of the Lagos Island, It is always very overpopulated and the amount of human traffic is alarming, I feel the use of cars & heavy trucks shouldn't be allowed in the market, Just offload to a tricycle or a traditional iron-load pusher. There's virtually nothing as regards fabrics or clothings that you won't see in the market, Basically, all personal day-to-day needs are available in the market. Just make the market a more “leg traffic-free” one.

Idumota I believe to be the heart of Lagos and a business area, there is nothing you can not buy there it's not a calm place, ever busy if you are the quiet type please don't go there to get buy stuff rather use a shopping mall outside idumota.

It is a very crowded market, navigation the lines and corners with unguided parking and blockage of routes by trailers and horrendous traffic around the entire vicinity made it a draining experience for me. It is not seasonal, this is a poorly structured market. Unfortunately I didn't take photos but it can be crazy out there in idumota

Idumota is idumota, loud, noisy, full of busy people going to and fro, traffic, etc and the easy market where you can purchase whatever you want depending on where you go. Won't advise going there during festive season though as the crowd doubles.

    1. Not for the faint hearted! 2. Has almost everything you need! 3. Go with a small cross body bag to protect your phone/money from pickpockets 4. Has a lot of atm machines and most traders there accept bank transfers, so you don't necessarily have to carry sozdx much cash around. For Jewelries/baby items - Dosumu For lace fabrics - Oluwole For Male wears - Mandilas For women - Balogun For Provisions- Oke arin/ Ebute Ero Kitchen Utensils - Holloway That's all i know for now😁 And yea, if you look at one of my pictures, you'll see a guy trying to convinve me to follow him to his store where he claims has all I need. Don't trust those guys! They either sell to you at an outrageous price, defraud you, rob you, or confuse you😩 Anyways, shopping there is exciting! Haha!

Idumota market is a very big market where you can shop for all your desired items at cheap and affordable prices. You can get clothings, footwear, baby items, hairs, baking items, kitchen utensils, etc. The roads are motorable, and the market is easily accessible.

This is one of the busiest markets you can think of. A hub for varieties - I would advise you try to focus on your need before getting into the market to avoid being distracted with choice and decision. You might have to go with a person who is experienced with the market for proper directing to avoid missing your way. With the transport system, please wear your heart of patience because of the headache you may get from the very dramatic drivers and conductors. Your story in Lagos isn't complete without this market experience.

  • 4/5 Funmilayo S. 2 years ago on Google
Really busy place. High chances you get what you're in search of, varieties are available, from household wares to kitchen utensils to ankara materials to dresses of all sorts. Easy to find your way around.

  • 1/5 Edith A. 2 years ago on Google
Crazy place but you can find virtually everything there. The human traffick is worse that any traffic you can imagine. Keep you bags and purse where you can see and secure them. Be smart in your pricing. You are most likely to see a product you like in more than three stores, so get price idea from the first and use that to negotiate at the next place. If you know your way around, don't follow anyone that offers to show you the warehouses, you might get lost because when they say, it's just here, you might be going on some Israelite journey. They also have the tendency to push you into buying what you do not need, so be careful. Do not act naive or nervous even if you are, don't look the part. Keep a straight face and flash a smile when necessary. It's difficult to find an ATM or stores accepting card payments inside the market, so go with cash. Even transfer is not advisable as the network there is either generally bad or has too many users competing for the same reception. Goodluck

Bubbling as usual, what makes this market peculiar is the fact that organized/unionized human beings are used to carry loads instead of wheelbarrows or carts. It's always difficult to find your way around if you are a stranger.

I've never seen so much plastic containers under one roof! I got them at a good price but the sales representative should learn to be more friendly to the customers (she was a nightmare 😒). There are 2 warehouses there. The first is the one I went to; they can allow you buy stuff in dozens but the next one only sells to people who are buying in hundreds of thousands.

I feel Idumota needs an intervention to instill order. The place is dirty, too choked up and I don't know what the Ministry of Environment and Water resources is doing about the open defecation around that axis, don't get me started on the amount of disposable packs thrown in water.
