Gave a 2 because the place is cute. How can a coffee house serve lukewarm coffee, premade and old, out of a big thermos? Gas station coffee is half the price, hot, and fresh. Won't go back and since there were only a few people in on laptops, guess they aren't there for the coffee. So disappointed. Last time (a few years ago) the place was packed. So sad.

8 years since I’ve been back, and in that time they’ve gone from awesome to awesome ++ (seriously). They have even more selection, yet the classics like mocha and latte coffee blends are still top of their glass.

My family and I were in the area for a week and went here three times. Quality was consistent every time. Each time we ordered a Vanilla Latte and a Breve Vanilla Latte(made with 1/2 and 1/2 instead of milk). Espresso is bold, smooth, and flavorful. In fact, it's so bold I never would have guessed there was only 1 shot in the 8 oz size. (I like my coffee strong.) The drinks were not overly sweet like most chain coffee shops. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and the foam was creamy and smooth. Highly recommend! (The sizing is a little odd-you can get 8 oz or 16 oz and there is no in between.)

Fantastic Raspberry Italian sodas. What will always be remembered is the outstanding customer service we experienced. We forgot our wallet and the staff went above and beyond to find us and allow us to return to pick it up. Vacation saved!

the casual dining was expensive and the limited time spent on the customer service and the immediate need to include a maximum predetermined tip percentage made the experience unsatisfactory. that was before I had received the bland uninteresting meal and generic single cup of coffee, with a minimal amount of options to the blend,or the accoutrements usually available in a coffeehouse. I was very surprised by this experience and was very hungry, but I couldn't taste the food and it was impossible to eat more than a few bites, so I left, only to be more famished than when I came in. I didn't write this review for vindication, I have to give an honest assessment of my experience and not in any way insult personally or professionally, and it would not necessarily prevent me from going back again, it's just about one of the numerous meals I have had and will have again, I just happened to write about this one, and I have worked up an appetite doing so...

Stopped in here on a long road trip up north, expecting it to be a 15 minute stop and it ended up being almost 45 minutes 🙄 My brother ordered a coffee which he said was extremely strong, and we both got bagel egg sandwiches. It was nearly 30$ and the second he bit into his he stated that it was clearly microwave eggs. There was zero taste to it and we both didn’t even finish half. It was incredibly disappointing and we wasted 25 minutes waiting for them to go. I have food allergies to preservatives and got a massive migraine 30 minutes later. It seemed like a great place to get a coffee & stay awahile but I would not recommend this for a quick bite to eat.

A cafe with good tea and good vibes. Service was quite slow when we came in on a Friday night; it does seem like the cafe gets pretty packed on the weekend, so plan accordingly. There was also live music if I remember correctly. The food was alright. A nice experience overall.

Perfect cozy little cafe with delicious coffee. Prices are fair and the staff are great. Very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is college town cafe-esque. We stopped on our drive home as well as our drive to Jackson Hole. Both times were well worth it. Drinks were perfect and the cookies were delicious. Definitely worth a stop if you are in town.

Lovely place!! I loved everything about Coal Creek! The decor, the nice selection of teas (I don't drink coffee) and the fact that they'll refill water from your teapot, bakery items (didn't try larger meals), the ambiance... and, there's PLENTY of power outlets. I was just passing through Laramie, but it would definitely become my regular coffee shop if I were living here. 🌞

So overrated and expensive. The simple bagel and cream cheese situation says $5 and change on their menu but they actually charge $7 and change. And it's literally just a bagel. Go to Night Heron. Way better. Also the coffee is Good. Not amazing or life changing. Not bad. Overrated.

I enjoy their coffee quite a bit and always grab a pound when I'm in town. The food is good and freshly prepared but sometimes its under seasoned especially with the eggs. Either way, I look forward to my next stop in Laramie.

Had a stop in Laramie and checked out this coffee shop. Seriously, the coffee was top-notch, and the place itself was super nice to look at. Loved the funny quotes on the tables - gave the place a cool vibe. The folks working there were really friendly too. Just a heads-up, the service was a bit on the slow side. Not a huge deal, but it did hold me up a bit since I was in a rush. But hey, the coffee and the chill atmosphere totally made up for it. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town and want some great coffee in a laid-back spot.

I lived in Laramie 20 years ago and still return to visit. Coal Creek Coffee was and is my favorite coffee shop anywhere. The coffee and service is excellent, but it is also an important community space for artists and musicians. Many of my favorite memories from my grad student years were at Coal Creek’s live music and poetry readings. It was a welcoming place for me to study and meet people. Stepping in the door feels like coming home. Best espresso in Wyoming, too.

Chill atmosphere. Food very good. Beer was so-so. I got the blonde Belgium beer, Molly. Had better but maybe this is best can get in Laramie.

Excellent cappuccino!! I travel and order an oat milk cappuccino in many places, and the one here was perfect. I was able to order a single shot of espresso and the barista sized the cappuccino perfectly and served in cup and saucer to drink there. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable too. I’ve been missing this experience elsewhere. Bravo Laramie and coal Creek!

I'm driving home to Seattle, and stopped off here for my morning coffee. The vibe is nice with friendly locals; the chocolate chip cookie is ooh-la-la yummy; the irony is I ordered a double shot americano in a small cup, and I am quite sure that I received a drip. There is no crema, and it simply tastes like Starbucks drip roast. Alas.

So, the sandwich that was ordered was sent back because it didn't taste good after ONE bite (as well as wrong), and something else was ordered. Rather than take the item off the check, they took half off and charged for the additional item. The smarter decision would have been to bring the second item (that was half the price) and call it good. Oh, and good luck getting a cup of coffee. A simple cup of coffee...

Coal Creek got a little lower rating from me, because the prices have gotten pretty high on the bulk coffee. I love French Kiss and while I didn’t mind paying 15.95 for 12 oz of beans a year or two ago, I’m a little shocked at the 21.97 (tax included) that the same beans cost. Damn good coffee, but………. And the service and atmosphere didn’t quite justify that kind of price. It was a gift, so I paid for it of course, but if the price hikes continue, I wouldn’t be surprised if a 12 oz bag of coffee costs close to $30.00 in a few years. Other than that, I am a regular at Coal Creek when I’m in town, and I really like it. Just figure out how to keep your costs down, I suppose.

Have to swing through this place whenever I’m in town. Such a cool building and vibe. I usually walk in with a large group and they are always accommodating. Excellent service and quality.

Stopped by for a coffee returning home on a road trip. Delish coffee! I ordered a vanilla latte and I believe it was the Columbia Supremo toast. The roast was hearty and rich but not at all overpowering. Went down smooth with the slightest hint of cinnamon. Not at all tart or bitter. Excellent roast. I also purchased the Jackrabbit Blend that I’m really excited to try. Atmosphere was really nice with an open rustic design that paired with a brewery next door. The music wouldn’t necessarily been my choice for a coffeehouse but the customer service and coffee was excellent. Would certainly recommend if you’re in the area.

Not a good first experience here. Decided to stop by and have lunch outside. After ordering and sitting out front, the lady brought me my food and I said "I had ordered a water as well" and she turned around to walk away saying "there's water inside". How was I supposed to know you had to serve yourself? I wasn't told this or given a cup by the cashier. So when I went inside and finally located the little water dispenser, there were no cups. I went to the register and asked about my water and she handed me a cup with no ice and pointed across the room. When I went to fill up my glass, the water was almost empty. So I ended up with a half a glass of warm water with my meal.

They can’t make a pour over coffee. All they can do is pump coffee out of an urn that was brewed several hours ago. Far from a coffee shop. Hard to believe. I went to Starbucks instead. At least they can make coffee. I wish I could give a zero star review because that’s what they deserve.

Stopped in while dropping our son off at school. Coffee looked cool and taste great too. The cinnamon butter muffins were amazing! Friendly people, great place!

Solid little local joint. Limited options for coffee, but what they had did the trick. Friendly and descent people, lovely mountain west atmosphere. It's worth the stop for some peace on the road, or for a quick drink on the go.

Bustling cafe with coffee, tea, food, and beer next door. Outdoor seating area with an awning to protect from downpours. Super friendly staff. Dog friendly. Incredible tea selection! Loose leaf, unusual blends, and they give you a proper pot rather than just a tea bag.

The beer was great! The food was not at the level we have experienced over the past 20 years. The French onion soup had a strange combination of flavors. The pizza, though advertised with mozzarella, had some kind of Velveta-style cheese the stuck to the roof of our mouths. The cookies were rock solid and the lemon bar only had a faint taste of lemon. We are hoping that this was a fluke!

Nice atmosphere & friendly staff however chai tea was an odd flavor IMO. Prices seemed high - $14 for a large chai and a coffee cake.

Had breakfast and dinner here. Food is really good, beer is amazing and service was always friendly.

We frequently go to the downtown Coal Creek as it definitely has a nicer environment than the uptown location in both the coffee cafe and adjacent taproom. There’s a good selection of beer on tap and wines by the glass. Staff are friendly and helpful. The one negative I would mention is that the cappuccinos and other coffee offerings should be hotter. Many times I’ve ordered a cappuccino that was lukewarm. For the price, I expect it to be piping hot. Otherwise, Coal Creek is a good go to place for our family.

I don't spend much time at the Cafe; although I have always loved the aesthetics of the space, but I do buy Coal Creek coffee beans 2X /a month. All of us who really love coffee want to believe our take on the best bean is sacrosanct, and everyone else is crazy if they don't agree. Yet - I really have had SO MANY beans from around the U.S. and the world that I think I have the experience to weigh in with a trustworthy review. I can say without hesitancy that Coal Creek is my go-to coffee bean. I try others, and they are good, but Coal Creek is always great. I have never been disappointed with any bean. I love the pronounced coffee flavor; never weak or weird and can handle whatever type of milk you like without diminishing the taste. Right now, I am back to black coffee, and the taste of Coal Creek beans is perfect for this style, too and I am enjoying a cup right now while typing this :-)

My husband and I love Coalcreek coffee. When we discovered that the shop is offering subscriptions to have it delivered monthly we were elated. Now we will never run out of the best coffee ever. This is the nicest thing we have ever done for ourselves!
