Mist visit iconic place in Madrid, it’s no doubt a tourist spot, but a good one! It was very crowded, long queue during our visit. But the speed of service is impressive. Famous hot chocolate fondue and traditional churros, very comforting in this chilled weather.

Order and pay first at the counter, then give the waiter or waitress your order ticket, then go find a seat. I was there on a Monday evening after dinner, it was super efficient! Love the fresh squeezed orange juice!! The churros are really crispy; the chocolate sauce was very hot; too powdery for my taste. Still a good try in Madrid if you are in the mood for desserts !

Amazing place. I stopped here by accident and didn't know it was so famous. Chocolate is amazing even I am not really chocolate lover ☺️. Don’t forget to try fresh Spanish orange juice. I recommend eating outside to get the full experience. Definitely a place we will remember. Truly Spanish .

My niece who lived in Madrid for a while recommended this place! It was very busy at 6 pm on a Saturday evening. And they are open 24x7…. And apparently busy all the time! Definitely lived up to expectations… though I think we ordered too much! One portion of churros with chocolate would have been enough! The chocolate is decadent… delicious and super thick!! A must try when in Madrid!

It was definitely a tourist spot in Madrid. Price was decent for the churros. Hot chocolate was really good! But I found the churros to be just fine. I would love to see more friendliness in the service part. Definitely worth to check this place out

The first bite felt like 1894… it was warm, crunchy, and thick. The freshness, silky smoothness of the chocolate accompanied by the churros was a perfect combination. Every bite was a good feeling in my soul. I was enjoying my experience so much, people watching me eat were so jealous. They don’t understand the world I was in that moment. Very pleasant experience.

Here you can get the best churros in Madrid! The chocolate is excellent and so is the churros mass. Although you have to wait a few minutes in line, it is worth the wait - San Ginés is definitely a must when staying in Madrid.

This place certainly lives up to the hype! One of the best hot chocolates I have ever had! Great place well run - super busy! Prices are reasonable and service is first class!

Best Churros I have ever had so far. Not oily and perfectly made. Even without the chocolate, I would enjoy it. We went on a holiday but the line wasn’t that long because they handle the customer lines so amazingly. They have different stores in the area and it seems you can line up each place to order. Then when you order for dine in, they have a line where you wait to be seated then the staff assists you on your seat. Very efficient and quite an enjoyable experience for us.

Had an absolute amazing experience here. The chocolate was better than it was 5 years ago when I was living in Madrid! The portion of 6 churros was honestly very generous, and the service was impeccable. This is a must visit for sure.

Excellent chocolate and churros, considered the best place to have them in Madrid. The place is located on Gran Via and offers very cool atmosphere. The staff there were really kind and helpful. Waiting for seats is really likely to happen.

I was told by a friend living in Madrid that this is a place one must visit when in the city. It's famous for churros (fried dough) and hot chocolate which many Spaniards eat gor breakfast, but to me it's more like a dessert. The length of the queue may be discouraging but the staff is very efficient so we waited for 10 minutes or so. Tip: Order first and then give your order ticket to the waiter if you want to get a table.

Absolutely divine for a treat of doughy churro heaven with amazing social vibe. Service and most importantly chocolate that is not too sweet but just the right amount of bitter. Great for any time of day

  • 5/5 Leah D. 2 years ago on Google
We hopped in the quick takeout line and got a hot chocolate and six churros. For €4.50 that seems pretty reasonable to me. It's basically pure chocolate syrup. The churros don't have cinnamon sugar like the ones we are used to from Mexico but they are delicious fried dough so what's not to love!

Very cute little spot for churros and chocolate. Definitely a lot of tourists (including myself). Chocolate was rich and flavourful, the churros were very light and delicious. It wasn’t super crowded but didn’t feel like the kind of place to sit and linger. I’m not a huge churros fan but enjoyed the visit.

A classic when in Madrid, friendly service despite the crowd. The wait is usually very short so don’t be out off by the queue. It’s amazing how many hot chocolates and churros plates the waiters can carry, it’s a show in itself! The chocolate is dark and tasty, I’d suggest to have a serving of whipped cream on the side, it makes the whole churros experience even more decadent.

  • 5/5 Marta Y. 2 years ago on Google
This is such a classic! We visit it every year with the kids. It is by far, the best hot chocolate IN THE WORLD!

  • 5/5 Lampros K. 1 year ago on Google
If you are in Madrid, then you have to definitely visit this place and eat churros with chocolate. You will probably have to wait 15-20 minutes to enter the restaurant for dine in. Otherwise, there is also the option for take away. Highly recommended!

  • 3/5 Lihi B. 1 year ago on Google
We heard much about this place but I have to admit it was not as good as we expected. We tried the classic churros with hot chocolate. The churros were a bit well done and dry to our taste (but greasy none the less) and the chocolate quite watery and too sweet. I’ve had better in Barcelona actually.

  • 4/5 Linda M. 1 year ago on Google
Quick and efficient service. Order and pay at the counter and wait to be seated. We came right before 10am and seated within 5 minutes. Put your receipt in the table. Hot chocolate was good and not too sweet and was more than sufficient for an order of churros (6 PCs). We drank the leftover hot chocolate :).

  • 4/5 Jas S. 1 year ago on Google
There’s always space for dessert. We’ll, this is the stop to test that in Madrid. Famous stop for churros! Be prepared to queue though if you’re lucky you may find seats immediately. It’s a must try given it’s tradition. Churros and hot chocolate were very nice and the prices cheap! All the seats are a tight squeeze so if you may prefer to takeaway and enjoy outside, which in hindsight would have been my preference.

  • 5/5 D D. 4 months ago on Google
A not to be missed place. Tasty churro to dip in chocolate sauce. Get the 6 churros with hot chocolate. Great vibe seating outdoor. Line for table can be long if during busy time.

  • 3/5 Stephanie 4 months ago on Google
We came at 9:15AM and waited around 10 minutes before it was our turn to order. Once you order you get a slip and you give it to one of the waiters. They will seat you and bring you your churros and hot chocolate (5,50). We ordered one for the 2 of us and it was more than enough. Their chocolate is thick but in a pudding kind of way. Not much chocolate flavour. The churros were chewy and came out warm. They were crispy and buttery but definitely not the best churros we had in Madrid

  • 5/5 Rishi J. 7 months ago on Google
TL;DR Version: Best churros and chocolate in Spain! Great value also and super fast service. Food - WHAT A DECADENT DARK HOT CHOCOLATE! I have to admit that before this place I was a little let down by the standards of the hot chocolate that was served with Churros across multiple places but San Ginés just blew our mind. Absolute must visit!

  • 5/5 Melisha D. 5 months ago on Google
It's a must try just for the novelty I feel, stand in the line just for the experience and you can get a takeaway and sit outside on a step (just like loads of other people and experience the warm churros in the really decadent hot chocolate. The portion is large, so potentially share I would say, unless you feel up to eating it all. There is a system in place to get orders, especially the takeaways done as quickly as possible, just be patient and polite I would say. The service and staff were great and friendly.

if you find yourself in Madrid, this is a must-try spot! We visited late on a Friday night, and there were still plenty of people around. Despite the long lines, the service was surprisingly fast. You place your order first and then wait to be seated, whether you prefer indoors or outdoors. Their hot chocolate is incredibly thick – we tried both Churros and Porras, and personally, I preferred the Porras. I highly recommend trying both to see which one you like best!

Best birthday breakfast ever! I arrived just before 8:30am on a weekday morning and was seated quickly. The thick, rich chocolate and fresh churros were delicious! Definitely better than what I got at another spot in town.

Para ser la chocolatería más famosa de Madrid, me decepcionó un poco, los churros no están mal aunque pudieran ser un poco más crujientes y el chocolate que te sirven para mojarlos muy insípido.

I've gone a couple of times, the chocalate was much better the last than the previous one, but the churros wasn't hot enough for my taste

  • 1/5 Yoshi S. 3 years ago on Google
Obviamente yo no repetiré.

This place is super cute. I came here while visiting a friend who lived in Madrid. I thought the churros were very tasty. A little thinner and crisper than the ones I’m used to. I wished the chocolate dipping sauce was a little thicker. I had envisioned it to be a think warm chocolate that we dip into rather than a more liquid version. But over all, loved the atmosphere and will definitely come again next time I visit Madrid.

I ara respon: Churros o porras? Tant hi fa!

Such a good place to try chocolate con churros. The service is quick, they have the menu in different languages so you don't need to struggle to understand what you will order. Also, the waiters speak English. They have really good churros if you come to Madrid this is the place to pass by.
