Former abbey of Benedictine sisters from the 11th to the 18th centuries which became a parish church during the Revolution after the disappearance of the abbey. By the purity of its style, the sculptures of its capitals and the intimacy of its crypt, this building remains the most beautiful Romanesque monument in Maine. During the Second World War, in 1944, the stained glass windows were destroyed (except one) during the explosion of the X-shaped bridge.

A monument to discover, whatever our religious or atheist convictions. Like many churches, this one is built on a crossing of very positive telluric currents and thus brings peace and calm to our souls.

Charmante petite église, toujours émerveillé de rentrer à l'intérieur et son petit parc arboré et fleuri est parfait pour un moment détente même si il est situé en plein milieu du Mans 😊

(Translated by Google) The most beautiful little church in Le Mans, the crypt full of pieces of relics, which for a time housed the body of St Benedict, is a place particularly conducive to contemplation. (Original) Plus belle petite église du Mans, la crypte pleine de morceaux de reliques, qui accueillie un temps le corps de St Benoît est un lieu particulièrement propice au recueillement.

Built in the 11th century, with modifications up to the 15th, it is the oldest church in the city of Le Mans. Open to the public from the summer, it was a happy coincidence that allowed me to enter there in April. Even though the lighting was not ideal and the visit was quick, I was able to discover this magnificent building and these exceptional stained glass windows made in the 20th century by Max Ingrand. Church whose construction began between the 11th and 12th centuries with Romanesque architecture (especially the exterior) and Gothic with the exterior spire and the interior. The stained glass windows, which are still pretty, are from the 20th century. It is surrounded by a pretty little garden. Car parking possible, otherwise T1 and 10 minutes walk (or bus 4 or 11).

(Translated by Google) Beautiful, great for walkers, small trails, beware of vertigo. (Original) Magnifique, super pour les marcheurs, petits sentiers, attention au vertige.
