Frankly, despite the room we were in being of a good size, the small bathroom and more so the completely moronic appeal and placement of the furniture! The small refrigerator was more like a old show box which did not have life and wasn't working and the large mirror was placed distastefully on the floor!! Why is the management or owner such a nut case? Why not make the rooms aesthetically appealing when the food was good and the location was ideal.A typical example of how to make a mess if what you have!! Also the carpet on the floor outside has a big dark green color compared to the rest and looks garish!! And worse was to realize that other hotels near the Christmas Wonderland were newer moderner with only 90 euros or so Anyway 😾 management wake up!!!!

Very old hotel, not worthy. The entrance of the room was full of trash (???), and the walls were dirty and moldy. The area is full of other hotels, don't waste your money in this one. If you expect a minimum standard, you'll be disappointed.

Located in the middle of the tourist town, common areas of the hotel are nice. Rooms are big however bedsheets and blankets were not fresh. Blankets were full of flints and appeared unclean. Reception staff barely speaks English and were not polite. No greetings, arrogant attitude. They also don’t have press iron. Really small ( likely 32 inches) tv in a big room

This hotel's location is pretty awesome, but I was ticked off by how far off the rooms actually are from what they advertise. I did get superior double room, but the room was so small that i couldn't even walk by the bed without hitting the TV box. I had thought that maybe they gave me the wrong room, so I went to the front desk and asked about it, they did say it was a "superior double room" . I pulled off their website on my phone and showed them that it didn't even come close to what's on the website, and they said I was right but that's what it was. Why do they even resort to having such a false advertisement? This puts their front desk staff in a pickled situation too. They did move us to another bigger room, and it had no view (i had paid extra for the "superior double" room with view), but oh well.. The rooms are in serious need of upgrading. There is no coffee/tea machine in the rooms. There was a foul smell on the lobby level of the hotel. Breakfast was so-so, it wasn't that great and the coffee at the breakfast was pretty bad. Overall, I can't say anything good about this hotel except for its location and its nice staff and I am really annoyed by the false advertisement of their rooms.

I stayed in Borges for 5 days Room is small for a family but as I stayed single was ok Breakfast is just okay nothing great about it Location is amazing , metro nearby and all other transport too I had a very bad experience I asked the reception for a weighing scale as I was to travel back home . After all my shopping and putting in my luggage , they said we have one in first floor which is broken and we have one here handy portable one which is not working too . I asked him please am a tourist and I really need a weighing scale as I need to know my luggage weight so this rude guy in reception said “sir it’s not my fault , it’s not anything we can do , you can pack your bag and go to any pharmacy nearby and measure “ I felt real bad Otherwise okay to stay in hotel except for non cooperative receptionists .

Like how this hotel is close to everything and right by the shopping district. We were upgraded to this room and we really appreciate it. Our room had 2 small balconies as well. Breakfast is good. The breakfast room is large and elegantly decorated. Stayed 4 nights at this hotel and will return here if we come back to lisbon. We traveled across Europe and stayed in many cheap and expensive hotels that's I reviewed and these people exceeded my expectation.

A terrible hotel with a good location. The hotel service is terrible and the hotel staff are very unfriendly. When you enter the hotel, they don't even look at you or say hello, and if you ask them anything, they say they don't know... The breakfast is so bad that it can't be called a hotel meal. Wi-Fi didn't work in the room, the bathroom door didn't close properly, and the bathroom was disgusting with mold in the bathtub. There was a strange sewer smell throughout the room, and it wasn't soundproofed, so you could hear everything from the TV next door and street noises. When I sleep, I feel like I'm lying on the street.. There's no place to sleep in Lisbon, so unless you have no choice but to sleep, this is a hotel you should never stay in. It would be better to go to a hostel. Only the photos on the internet site seem to be the same. (Don't be fooled by the photos) After staying at this hotel, I have no desire to go to Lisbon again.

What I liked: - The rooms are cleaned every day and they're doing a great job. - The window/balcony view. - Location - Very friendly stuff. - Breakfast is ok. What I didn't like: - No fan in the bathroom. The humidity and the smell are going in to the room. - Not enough sockets for charging the phones and the existing ones are hided after the night stands and shared with the fridge and the night stand lights. - The fridge socket is cut off when the card is removed, so no cold water or beer when you come back home in the evening. - The hot water is very hot and may cause burnings especially in the shower. No thermostatic mixers in the shower, despite EU norms, and thewater temperature fluctuates all the time. - There are not shelves in the bathroom and in the closet.

Amazing hotel!! There is a great gym with everything you need (very private). The rooms are enormous and beds are extremely comfortable. The door to the balcony in my room was stuck and broken but there was another balcony which was great. The breakfast is amazing!! Huge selection of options for breakfast (a very big buffet). Staff are nice and very helpful

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed, OMG, the fascilities are horrible, rooms super bad, noisy, no drawers, the building is falling appart, and smells really bad, nothing works right, we have to hold the shower door with a flip flop because it didn't close. I have never stayed in a place like that before. Not recommendable at all. I gave a star because if not I can't post, but there is not even a dot that this place deserves.

The men at the lobby didn’t great us at all. Sometimes ignored us completely. Asked for a modern room, got an old & rundown room at first, not worth half the money we paid. Asked for a more modern room at the reception which was much better. Breakfast was bad. Bread, ham and cheese and a limited supply of eggs & bacon. Bad coffee. Bad juice. Same limited breakfast every day. Very limited. No healthy options. Breakfast staff was friendly. Gym was well equipped & location is good, but there are much better options. Would definitely not stay here again, not even for free if it was in an old room.

There are reviews mentioning the noise from outside. I have to say our room was extremely quiet, not a sound from outside. It was quite spacious and had the largest shower of the several places I have stayed at in Portugal. There is underground parking not far away, but the price is about 20 euros per night. So many restaurants and so much atmosphere in the area.

Great experience at this hotel. The property is located midtown... actually, in the best possible area. The common areas are well maintained and charming...it is crystal clear that the hotel has a history at his back. The room was comfy and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful but not always proactive but honestly this was not expected. Breakfast is basic but overall good. My only complaint is COFFEE!!! In Portugal coffee is excellent but not here ... please improve this!!! Great value for money. Really happy with you guys!!!

The location of the hotel is fantastic. Right in the center of the city, near most popular places. There is also a good private parking near the hotel that offers maybe the best price in the city center of 15 euros per day. The hotel as facility is very basic and has a lot of noise, like pumping doors and loud talks from the stuff and customers as the rooms are not soundproof at all. The breakfast is very limited but decent quality. Decent value for money because it is cheap. If you get at the breakfast after 9.30 there will probably be no good left as they don't refill it.

The hotel main floor is really nice. There is a dining area in the back that is extraordinary but appeared to have a leak somewhere and the floors had big puddles. The rooms were not as appeared on Expedia. I was about to make a complaint but the lady in front of me was currently complaining about the same issue. The staff told her "Sorry there is nothing we can do". I felt bad because she had reserved a superior room. The continental breakfast was not good at all. Their Peruvian bacon was like chewing paper. The coffee machine did not work. The glasses provided for juice held about 3 ounces of liquid. No water was available. Their "sausage" was like tiny Vienna sausages that were not good. Most tables were dirty with plates and staff did not do a great job of cleaning up. Location was the best part. In the heart of everything to include being 15 meters from the train station. If you are coming from the airport, this is an easy place to reach and locate.

Smelly hallways. Mediocre rooms. Extremely tiny if you’re getting their smallest room. Room with balcony is good. Good location but mediocre breakfast and the smell in the hallways is horrible.

Location is everything. There are it's pros and cons to the location of the hotel. As Lisbon can be quite hilly, you can expect some downhill/uphill walking getting to/from the hotel. However, it's situated in a very lively neighborhood where you can find lots of shops, restaurants and be steps away from the metro. Additionally, you can enjoy free street entertainment from your room's mini balcony. I really enjoyed my stay here, however now for the con. The walls are thin so you can hear noise. As I got a room near the elevator, I could hear people passing by + the sounds coming from the street outside. Thus, it's a little hard to get peaceful sleep. Additionally, the room is big but there is not enough space between the bed and TV to walk past. I got hurt and accidentally hit the corner of the TV with my shoulder. I'd come back but maybe bring earplugs with me. Price was affordable.

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a place. This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and typically will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of my favorites in this area. I've been coming here for years. If you choose this place you definitely will love it I'm sure! Great location, live night with lot of music and dance, nice staff and very clean room

We stayed 6 nights at Hotel Borges Chiado for our city trip in Lisbon. The location of the hotel is in one word fantastic. In the center, close to everything. We were less enthusiastic over the hotel itself. Our room was very basic. We hated the bed(s). In the cupboard there are no shelves to put your clothes; you have to find a way to hang everything. The room was not ergonomic. Most of the staff is very indifferent. And the breakfast was of poor quality. We think there are better options in the neighborhood. René and Menekşe

Good points: -Hotel well located in the middle of the city -Employes very kind and arranging Negative points: -For a 3 stars hotel, the rooms are not was I expected, very tiny and multiple failed installations -The AC doesnt work propely the room is very humid -The door of the bathroom not close easily -The first shower we took I had my foot in the water the drain of the shower is blocked before we arrived. - Internet is EXTREMLY slow the upload is always under 2mbit/s that is not useful at all if you are looking to work while you stay at the hotel... Sorry but next time I will look at another location for this price. Thanks to the employes that are very kind.

Beautiful hotel, great room and very good central location situated immediately next to a central metro location. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because they couldn't accommodate for an early check in but they still stored my baggage until late night when I came back to the hotel. I didn't like the first room I was assigned on the 2nd floor and right above the restaurant due to the high noise from the street and loud music band they had playing at the restaurant. So the front desk staff were able to immediately relocate me to another room on the opposite end of the hotel on one of the highest floors to take care of the issue. Highly recommend this place based on location and proximity to good restaurants, historical sites and public transportation.

Great location in Chiado area of Lisbon. You could get to everywhere easy from here. Reception staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. Looks a bit dated in parts (mostly the Reception area), but this did not put me off as the rooms were kept to a higher standard and very clean. The best thing for me though about this hotel was the mattress. I travel a lot and this was by far the best mattress I have slept on. I did not want to get out of it and no back pain! I would stay here again.

Keskeisellä paikalla oleva hotelli. Hyvät yhteydet kävellen, raitiovaunulla ja metrolla. Hotellissa on erittäin pieniä huoneita. Kuvan huone ei ole sellainen. Huoneissa on ainakin osittain huonekohtainen ilmastointi/lämmitys ilmalämpöpumpulla. Hotellissa on edelleen viemärihajuhaitta, joka tullee 1. kerroksesta.

Basic hotel in great location. Booked this hotel by friend recomendation. 2adults and 1child. Got a bit old fashioned room on top floor with view on others windows. Ceiling light was blinking and been told gona be fixed next day....didnt. could use table lamp as only one socked worked. Had to choose phone charging or table lamp. Shower blocked...but was fixed next day. Rooms has no kettle to make tea or coffee. No iron as well. Look for better view and modern room when booking this hotel! Great location and good breakfast

This room was probably one of the most spacious rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel is nice, well furnished and in a great location. It is noisy at night, which is something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. I would consider staying here again, because it was a comfortable stay. But we did have a few complaints: - there is a lack of outlets. The only outlet that seemed available was the one that the fridge / TV were plugged into, so we had to unplug both to charge our phones overnight. - there’s no shampoo (or conditioner) located in the bathroom; just an “all over shampoo”.

We had a big suite for 3 persons even an upstairs living area so we felt at ease. Location is wonderful but of course you can hear the music outside (we knew it in advance so not a problem for us). On the first night, I brought up some problem to the reception and they took care of it speedily. It is clean and well furnished. The view is a highlight too. We felt having a private concert every evening. Breakfast is below average. Next time I will not take it but you can have a perfect breakfast next door. There is no restaurant in the hotel but can eat at the wonderful cafe next door too.

Hotel Borges Chiado is excellently located, near a metro station, and in walking distance of the train station Rossio and several restaurants and places of interests. For example the San Justa elevators are a 5-10 minutes walk away. Our room was small and cozy, but inconvenient, because it was on the top and half of it was the diagonal of the roof top. My brother being 1.80 had to stay on one part of the room. Also the TV was badly placed, causing us to hit our head more than once. The staff is friendly, and they try to accommodate you as much as possible. I would recommend this place if you are planning to spend more of your day outside.

Great location for all the sightseeing in Lisbon. Our room wasn't very big and there was a strong smell of damp which we deduced was the drains. We did report it to reception, but I don't think they resolved it & because we were only there 3 nights we didn't ask to move - just left the window open. Breakfast at €10 per person was a definite letdown. Very limited choice and not good quality. The little cafe next door to the hotel was much better food and value for money.

We had the best stay there, Very big and convenient room for 2 adults with 2 small children. A nice street view. Perfect location in the centre of Lisbon, with many many bars, cafés, restaurants and stores around. Good breakfast, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice common areas. There's a gym for the fit ones . Will come back again :)

Very central to all the lifestyle. Choose a room on the 4th or 5th floor, a bit noisy from outside. The rooms need to be better insulated as at night other guests slam their doors which if you are sleeping it will wake you up . Perhaps a polite notice on all bedroom doors to Respect other guests and keep the noise to a minimum. Rooms clean but pillows could be updated, and a shower screen in bathroom, not an old curtain. Nice breakfast, lots of choices. And reception staff friendly and helpful. Overall a nice place to stay for a few days

Booked a room on very short notice! Big room, great standard and great breakfast in beautiful room! Only downside was all furniture is a bit run down and internet on the 5th floor was very very slow.

Great location. Quite basic room but good bathroom. Noisy corridor though. And both lifts out of order. And worst breakfast I have ever had. Bacon is not supposed to be plastic.

In the middle of the shops, walking distance from the bars in bairro alto and next to the subwaystation. Nice place but bring your earpluggs because you can hear the people in the next room snore. Breakfast is oke (maybe due to covid there's less choice, bread in bags and all that), and there's a gym and a place to chill dienstauto.

Really liked the hotel and the location was prime for what we wanted for our visit. The Metro exit is right out front just a few meters away. We mostly walked to see the sights we were interested in, and for the others transit was quite close. Rooms were clean and neat, AC worked well. It did get a little noisy the last couple nights heading into the weekend, the squares around here seem to be pretty popular and given the European dinner/good time schedule starts a bit later than us North Americans are accustomed to it was a little difficult to adjust. Still it was entertaining and interesting to be able to wander the streets until late.

  • 4/5 Sebastian D. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms are small, but it is great that they have AC. Breakfast is OK, but assortment is not good for sweet stuff. Location is great, in the center of Lisbon, close to main tourist attractions and close to metro and train stations.

I really enjoyed the hotel. It’s the best location you can get especially for the price. The front desk was very nice and helpful for tours/sites/ places to eat. They translated quite a bit for me as well. The rooms were clean and comfy. They could use the beautiful space behind the elevators more, maybe fore events or happy hours. The downstairs lobby is very modern but the room levels could use a bit of upgrading. Really great stay though. Would Book again.

The hotel has a great location and the rooms are okay for what you pay. We stayed for 4 nights at £200. The entrance and back area is beautiful but we wish they hadn’t turned it into seating and kept it as a pool and jacuzzi. The rooms are small but beds are comfortable. We had a tiny little balcony with ours which was nice. The bathroom is also nice however we had a drainage issue, which we didn’t bother reporting, which meant you couldn’t have a shower longer than 3 minutes. The room we stayed in was quite noisy however that is expected due to the location. We didn’t bother trying the breakfast as we read reviews weren’t great. But overall we were satisfied with our stay. Lisbon is lovely !

If I go to Lisbon again, I will return to this hotel. They were being extremely kind to me. My flight was cancelled due to the JFK power failure and I missed the entire 3 days I booked to stay at this hotel. I booked a non-refundable reservation because I didn't plan to change my plan. When I contacted the staff and explained the situation, they were very understanding. They allowed me to move my stay to later dates without any penalty. Although my vacation was cut shorter, I still left with the overwhelmingly beautiful memory. Hotel Borges Chiado is not only a friendly place, but also has very clean, elegant, comfortable, and spacious rooms. The dining room has beautiful chandeliers and high ceiling and looks magnificent . On the ground floor in the back, there are a few intimate and mysterious rooms for meeting, sitting , chatting , hanging out. There is also a gym with a good variety of fitness equipment . We loved everything about this hotel.

I travel once a month for a city break weekend. 95% of my stays at hotels are positive but my stay at this hotel was very disappointing. I would NOT recommend this hotel and I would NOT stay at this hotel again. I interacted with the reception staff on several occasions: on check in, when I requested a change of my room as my first room was a shoebox, when the bedside light in my room was burnt out (I was just handed a light bulb and expected to change it myself), when I mentioned that the basin in my shower was filling up with water and I stood in a pool of water as I showered (that was met with a shrug of shoulders) and when I asked for directions. Morning, afternoon and evening: different staff, but the same attitude. My room was satisfactory although very basic. The walls were scratched and clearly hadn't been painted in a couple of years. There were no pictures. I felt like I was in a prison or hospital room. As it was an older hotel, the windows were very small. The guests chatter and conversations from the wallway carried into the room. So don't think of taking an afternoon nap or sleep past 8am. Wifi was spotty. And I couldn't get 4G and only occassionally 3G in the room. There are few local grocery stores if you want to stock up with drinks and snacks but the room did have a fridge. There was only one positive: the hotel was located next to the Metro. I'd rate this stay 4/10.

I booked a single room at the very last minute, so I didn't expect the nicest room, but I was more than pleased with my room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was great. The service was incredible as well; however, the best part is the location. The location is absolutely incredible. I stayed alone and felt confident in my safely at all times. I hope to stay here on my next visit.

Tourists: if you are looking for the best place to stay and want to feel the city, roam around the city, experience tram, music and do some shopping around then this is it. Rooms are great. But couple of issues though; there was always some bad drainage smell in the bathroom. Second, always the noise out so loud which you can't have a comfortable sleep. They have to improve the insulation part on their windows. Other than that, this is by far the best.

The location is amazing as it's basically in the Lisbon center therefore this hotel has a lot of potential to be great but is for some reason ignoring a few easily fixable problems a lot of people complain in reviews about and the same ones I'm writing this review for. The Wi-Fi, though being strong signal in our room, just didn't work at all and I let the front office know about it but they just basically waved me off. There was an unpleasant sewer smell in the hall right outside our room, most of the front desk workers barely even look at you when you pass by, let alone smile or greet you. All in all the location of the hotel allowed us to explore a lot around Lisbon with ease, but it's just a shame with how little effort they can greatly step up their business.
