The waiters are also a bit creepy to be honest, at first they are nice but then they become passive aggressive. Another thing you must know, THEY CHARGE YOU EXTRA MONEY ON THE FINAL BILL SO PLEASE CHECK BEFORE PAYING. They tried charging us an extra 10 euros. You cannot pay with card, only cash, they bring a list on the phone, not the actual bill. It was THE WORST place I have eaten in the whole Portugal. IF YOU WANT YOUR WHOLE DAY RUINED EAT HERE. I have already done a complain to ASAE and I recommend everyone that has had an unpleasant experience with any Portuguese restaurant to write to ASAE. Screw this people who think they can take advantage of tourists by stealing from them and fooling them. NOT ON MY TIME, NOT ON MY MONEY.

We've posted hundreds of reviews and really stuggle with this review. The food and service was excellent until you got the bill. I had the Cod Risotto which was very creamy but very delicious. My partner had the steak and his meal was cooked to perfection. We also had a pitcher of Sangria that was excellent. Now for the reality check. We were approached by someone on the street asking us to check out their menu. We were hungry and the items on the menu looked good. First Red Flag: Jambon, chesse and bread was placed on our table without us being asked. They stated "here is jambon, chesse and bread for you." We already knew most restaurants charge for these items. Second Red Flag: What's your recommendation. He recommended the most expensive items on the menu. Third Red Flag: Overhearing the customer at the table beside us disputing the price of his bill. Overall, when eating out it goes to transparency and trust. Their lack of transparency, adding items to the bill, (which btw is only presented in tiny form on a cell phone) and payment process of only accepting cash due to poor signal when other restaurants within 10 ft of them having no issues sums up to our poor review for Moma's restaurant. There are many various options in the area that are up front and appear more legitimate.

The worst ever. Don’t waste your money and time. First go and see their kitchen and then if it is ok sit there. A man stands on the street and convinces you to sit and have a meal with free drink. But really the dishes are not as what he shows you in the menu , and the worst thing is there is no free drink. They want to get more than what in the menu is. Our total order was only 17 euros but the owner shows at the first time a bill in his mobile phone with 25 euros. When I asked for the reason they told this is tax😳😳 But I told ok then give me a printed bill, they didn’t really want to give me the bill. I wanted to call the police, then he scared and gave the exact bill with 17 euros. I wondered seeing such a business in the Europe region🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ be careful

We were approached on the street, just like most of the reviews said. But we own a small business in the states and decided if someone was trying that hard we would give them a try. We weren’t interested in dinner it was too early but told him we wanted a snack(tapas) and a bottle of wine. We told him to pick! They brought out a really good wine and gave us a chance to try it before committing. We love what they picked and it wasn’t too expensive. ($25 for the whole bottle). They also brought us a cheese board with cooked sausage and bread for our tapas. It was delicious. During our time there they brought us a really good port to try. It was so good! Yes be careful. Ask the questions (“how much is this”, “is this free”?). One thing we were told before coming to Portugal is they often bring appetizers to your table, they are almost never free. So ask! We recommend this establishment. The service was great and we really enjoyed our tapas and wine!

It's the kind of place you choose then almost immediately regret sitting down. As other have mentioned, the bill will rapidly start to climb upward as things like cheese/bread/meat platter are casually offered with you not realizing that it is more expensive than your entree. What I had intended to be a nice sit-down 10-15 euro lunch finished as a bland dish that exceeded 30 euros. They don't take credit cards and offer an over-priced ATM machine sitting right outside - presumably yet another way to stuff the coffers. Beware places like this that aggressively solicit your business. The best places don't need to spider-trap unknowing passersby.

Do you want some Picanha? You will get an “authentic” extra burned without flavour meat. Do you want some nice cheese and ham plate as starter? You won’t have to ask, they’ll get it for you to your table, without asking and charging you only 10 EUR. Tips? No way, just try to pay (CASH ONLY) and they’ll want to round it up for you. We were kinda lucky we got fast service, there was a poor couple next to us asking for a glass of wine like for an hour and it never arrived. They’ll probably have the same rating. Avoid this place as much as you can.

Excellent service is marred by the food quality. This is not a seafood risotto, at least not the way we used it to be: watery and not much of a seafood there. We ended up in the $70+ range: the food was not worth it. Again, service is attentive and unintrusive. Time and again: avoid touristic venues. Hope this helps.

Great food great service and good price staff was 100% helpful and respectful to all are needs. The otopus was not chewy it was made perfect. The stake was delicious and the most lovery piece of Meat I have ever eaten. The sardines my mother loved that mean. The Pizza with four toping was good too and the price even better. The bitoque it is beef fry's and rice menu my daughter loved it. The price for 6 people did not pass 100.00€ and drink 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷

Avoid this place it’s a scam and very unpleasant. I have never given a bad review or felt the need to do so before - but this place deserves to be called out. The staff and food are very poor. At the end of the meal we were told it was cash only payment - we were not warned of this when we sat down or by any signage. The owner/manager said his card machine wasn’t working. We later saw that others have been scammed this way so that they had to use the ATM at the restaurant. We didn’t have a cash card so said we could only pay contactless with phone. The owner wasn’t happy and stormed off. Soon after he beckoned us into the restaurant and had ‘found’ a card machine that worked. It was clear he had a machine all along but was trying to get cash payment or for us to use his ATM and pay extra charges. The whole experience felt uncomfortable and unprofessional in every way at this place. We didn’t believe or trust a word the owner/manager said. They should not be allowed to be in business as a restaurant.

This place was great. I was told to stay away from the r restaurants in the centrum and venture out to the outskirts, but I took my chances. I got there pretty late, close to closing and the kitchen was closed, however, they made an exception. It was well worth it. I got the cod with fries and eggs. Was nothing like I expected buy definitely was made with love. The only reason I knocked a star off is because they are cash only. Wish I would have known this before it was time to pay.

Avoid if you can. We got charged £5 for 2 tiny potatoes on the salad. And €20 for two glasses of wine that worth €4.8 for a full bottle at any local grocery store. For the bill, they showed a phone picture of the bill and told us the card machine didn’t work. That seemed a common experience after reading the other reviews here. Food was okay. That was probably the only positive aspect.

THE Worst restaurant I ever visited in Portugal, they were nice in the beginning and became passive aggressive, when I asked for the bill they only show me the photo of the bill and no real bill to show, they charge extra for service fees, which is a total rip off as they ask for 10EUR for each person. TOTAL RIP OFF!

This was the worst experience I’ve had in Portugal. Do not come here, it is awful! Here’s a list of some complaints: 1. The waiters pressure you off the street to come eat here. 2. After you’ve sat down and ordered, the wait staff become very rude even when asking for something simple like how long to expect for the food. 3. Our food took over 1.5 hours to come from the time we ordered! 4. The food was disappointing, especially for the wait. For reference we had the octopus risotto and the shrimp spaghetti. 5. They ONLY accept cash and do not tell you that beforehand or have it mentioned anywhere! 6. There’s a mandatory 3€ service charge at the end, that was also not mentioned anywhere.

Very large drink, and good size plate of food, very filling. Had a complaint about the fries, but no problem, they just went and remade them right away. Food was tasty and paid 20$ overall however they don’t tell you until the end that card is not accepted. But, they were able to track down and use a credit card reader from the manager so it all worked out!

Vorsicht.

Found their bbq to be quite dry and the food a little on the bland side. The staff treated you well and the outdoor atmosphere was nice. Prices were a little up there for Portugal.

Seafood rice is good. But it’s an extremely huge plate! Very generous. However, they didn’t accept cards and we didn’t know in advance which is a bummer!

Warning!! This is the worst place I have ever eaten and even dangerous. One of us nearly good food poisoning from the bad and old meat. Had to go to the farmacy afterwards. Avoid this place The food is far overpriced for the food you get. It’s a tourist trap!!! Hope this is helpful for other people

Terrible restaurant. Same story as everyone else. Friendly at the beginning and then the bill adds up. Can not pay with card just cash. Charge €20 for a little bit of bread and some ham. Never go here! Read other reviews as well!

On my first trip to Portugal, I would like to share a very bad experience at a this restaurant. I ordered an 2 octopus €18.90/each and 2 glasses of beer €7.5/each. However, there were 4 small potatoes that came with the octopus food. But when I checked out, they charged me €10 for the potatoes and a €6 table service charge that I never paid other places. So after arguing for the price, I deducted the €10 for the potatoes. And also an another surprise thing that credit card isn't allowed. This store is a place you should never go to because it deceives customers about food invoice and not fresh food as well. It's not even worth giving one star. As I believe that this store should be closed for the Lisbon city's impression.

Be careful when you eat there. Don’t take there bait. They hunt for Tourist people. And if you decide to eat there always ask if they take a credit card because they’re very good when comes to cheating. First they will add extra fees for service %10 and they will ask you to pay cash which they know very well Tourist don’t carry cash. SO BE CAREFUL THERE

I was starving and looking for the first place I could sit down and eat. A man approached me with a menu in front of a different restaurant. When I asked for a table, he then led me down a completely different street to an empty restaurant. Red flag #1. When I sat down, I looked at the reviews, and saw that there were many saying that they had issues with being overcharged and shown their tab on a cell phone and not being given a receipt. I saw a table in front of me being given a paper receipt by a woman I assume was the manager so I wasn’t too worried. At this point I just wanted to grab something quick and leave. The menu was overpriced and they did not have the items I wanted. At the end of my meal, sure enough the man came and showed me the price on a cell phone, my items added up to about 12 euros but the total price was 16. I asked him why and he said it was the cost of the “service”. I just paid it and left in order to not waste any more of my time. I’m assuming the other table that received a paper receipt were locals so they knew better than to try that with them. Their tactics are dishonest and it’s sad that they feel the need to scam people for a few extra euros.

Do Not come to the place. A total ripoff. After we ordered our food, the waiter put some bread, cheese and ham on our table which we didn’t order. As Americans, we thought they were free of charge, the same way as we were in the America they gave you some treats while waiting for the food you ordered. So we ate some of some. When we got the bill, we were charged €27,00 for the food we didn’t order. They said this is the Portuguese way to do business. They put food on your table, don’t touch it if you don’t want to pay for it. What the heck! Why didn’t they tell us that to begin with!! Do ALL Portuguese restaurants do the same way??

Food wasn’t terrible but it was definitely overpriced. The food also took a long time to come out. Definitely not worth the money. Tourist trap. They were suppose to accept credit card but claimed that the credit card machine was unavailable at the time of payment because it was being used in another restaurant.
