My family and I had to come to Lisbon for an appointment last minute and we were lucky enough to find this hidden oasis in the centre of the busy city. Antonio and his team have created a beautiful, relaxing, stylish guesthouse with careful attention to every detail. We decided to extend our trip because of the beautiful guesthouse and its excellent location. Antonio kindly accommodated us and made all the arrangements necessary. The guesthouse also has a beautiful kitchen/breakfast room and outside terrace area with small bar. My family and I were very impressed and happy with the service, rooms and facilities. Outstanding!

The staff who work here are incredibly kind and helpful. Customer service was excellent! Our bathroom was outside of our room, which was a bit inconvenient. Also the bathroom lacked ventilation (no windows) and is in need of a fan to circulate the air. A heads up that the street adjacent to the building is fairly noisy, but that's no fault of the owners. Street trash pick up occurred right outside our room, quite early in the morning and very loud, which is ok if you're a heavy sleeper. Might be best to come prepared with ear plugs. Easy area for getting around and walkable to many tourist attractions.

Incredible hospitality. We always try to stay at a place where we can get to know the owners and learn a little more about the culture. The small team at the LR guest house really makes you feel welcome and has paid attention to every detail to make your stay comfortable and smooth. Antonio was absolutely wonderful and truly cares about his guesthouse and your experience. Our flight got in very early and they not only allowed us to store our bags but also invited us in for breakfast (which was delicious). This place had the best pastel de nata I had on my whole trip. The rooms are really spacious and comfortable - the beds were the most comfortable we had on our whole trip. It was nice relaxing at the honesty bar sipping a port after dinner. We were a little worried about booking a place in the Bairro Alto because it’s known for it’s nightlife but staying here on a Sunday and Monday we really didn’t notice too much noise. The location is really great. We found Lisbon to be really walkable (although hilly). None of the main attractions are too far away from the guesthouse. Don’t hesitate to book here!

I can't speak highly enough of LR Guest House. My wife and I recently visited Lisbon for the first time and stayed here. This is easily one of the best experiences at an accommodation while on holiday. To start things off the service is top notch. The owner and staff have extensive hospitality experience from some of the finest hotels and it shows. When we arrived to the guesthouse, we only had a card to pay the taxi. Instead of directing us to an ATM, then spotted us the cash and we were able to pay them back later. They are always prepared to get anything to improve your stay, like purchasing requested food items even. They are very knowledgeable of the area and have great suggestions for places to visit and eat. The kitchen has a large table that guests can sit together at and socialize. One morning, the staff was a little late getting breakfast ready and offered to refund us a whole nights stay as a result. Really above and beyond dedication to the quality of service they want you to expect from them. I love to talk to people and had many great conversations with Antonio (owner) and Teresa about Lisbon, Portugal, hospitality, personal life, a little bit of everything and it really made me feel at home. They push the idea of making it feel like you are almost part of a family and I loved it. The accommodation itself was an original building that survived the great earthquake that hit Lisbon. It has original features and was beautiful. It's located in the dead center of the nightlife area of Bairro Alto and has many amenities nearby. Because it is a protected building there is no planning allowed for a lift by the city, so it's only accessible by stairs. I wouldn't really describe Lisbon as wheelchair accessible anyway though, unless you consider careening down steep hills your jam. There is a wide spread of programming on the TV, and spacious bathrooms with great water pressure and temperature. They have a complimentary bar in a winter garden that is all access, help yourself, and complimentary drinks in the mini fridge in the room. Do yourself a favour and stay here. You will love every moment of it. Say hi to Antonio and Teresa from Brandon while you're at it. 😁

If there were 10 stars we'd give them! Due to an overbooking from a previous accomodation we searchrd an alternative and ended up choosing to LR guest house. What a blessing! Antonio gave us a very warm & friendly welcome with a tour around the facilities. The guesthouse used to be hostel before and had been taken over and transformed into this lovely guest house. The breakfast room is the kitchen where in the mornings eggs, pancakes & veggies can be prepared for you fresh. A total home feeling. They offer a great complimentary snack and beverage which is so yummy, especially the banana bread made by Milena, one of the staff members. The rooms are spacious, nice hard-ish beds, shutters and the usual amenities (l'or coffee machine & kettle). We had a room with an external bathroom, it was just opposite our bedroom. They provided bathrobes, towels, individually packed pair of bath slippers and ear plugs. You may need to use the ear plugs depending on the street noise as there are a few bars down the street. Bathroom offered shower gel, shampoo , soap, lotion, hairdryer etc..it was very complete. I loved every single detail. Location wise excellent! You couldn't be more central in my opinion, the standard sightseeing spots are all in walking distance ranging from 7 min (shopping mall) - 20min (Praça do Comércio). The street they're in is car restricted, so the taxi will drop you off either at a main road like Rua da Misericórdia, from there it's a 2 min walk to the guest house. You can also come from the other side being Manteigaria Chiado in Rua do Loreto, but you walk uphill, 2 -3 min walk. LR guest house deserves every single tip you choose to give. Keep up the good work boys!

Location is superb, right in the middle of nightlife, close to fantastic restaurants and cafes, and a short walk to the seafront. The rooms are well appointed, clean, beds comfy, and the complementary drinks in the fridge was a lovely touch. Shower pressure and heat are also fantastic, just what you need after a long day of travel and walking. What really sold us is the superior care taken by the owner and staff, who all have extensive backgrounds in hospitality. They go out of their way to make guests feel like they’re at home which started from the moment we arrived and only had a card to pay the cab- Teresa rushed down cash in hand and paid our bill which we were so grateful for (we repaid it as soon as we got cash). Another guest’s airline lost her luggage and Teresa got some stuff from the shops and also brought her own hair styling tools and makeup then assisted the woman in getting ready. This kind of care and attention to detail is above and beyond, and what will keep us coming back. Did I mention the quiet and private terrace with complimentary bar? A perfect end to the night or just a respite between sightseeing. And the homemade, locally sourced breakfast was the perfect way to begin our day. Thank you Antonio and the amazing staff at LRGH!

Great location for a city break - walking distance to many great restaurants, attractions, metro station, Rossio Train station (for easy travel to Sintra). Antonio and his staff are extremely welcoming, very accessible and always willing to help - they made the stay very relaxing and provided recommendations. Rooms were nicely furnished, well equipped with amenities (espresso machine, smart TV, hair dryer, safe, AC, USB sockets, and mini bar in the Superior King room), very clean and comfortable beds. Fantastic breakfasts with freshly squeezed, fresh bread and pastries from a local bakery, a wide selection of good quality ingredients and eggs, bacon & beans cooked to order. You always have access to the communal kitchen where there are complimentary sandwiches, fruit and snacks available if you get a bit peckish, as well as teas, coffee and chilled filtered water machine (sparkling water option as well) to fill your bottles up . This was a lovely benefit over a staying in a hotel. We could also relax in the Winter garden terrace which had games, TV, snacks and a well stocked honesty bar. LR Guest House has an effective system of keypad codes rather than keys which worked well, and they still keep the code active to the communal areas after check out so you can easily return to pick up your bags from the luggage store when it is time to leave.

Me and my friend cannot speak high enough about this place. They really made our stay in Lisbon top notch! I liked Lisbon and all but I totally want to come back here just for this place. First of all the customer service is way above and beyond. I stay at a lot of Marriotts and Hyatts and this was by far way better! They make you feel like family here! I recently had a shoulder injury, and when I asked for ice in a Ziploc bag, they had no problem finding some for me and the next night they had one ready in the freezer! They really go above and beyond! Also, another example is, I left my retainer and really nice retainer case there and when I emailed them about it, they said yes I had left it there and would I like them to mail it to me. I said yes, and they broke down the cost from post office and didn’t even charge me extra for the extra work. Just what it cost to mail it back to me. I really appreciated that as we all know retainers and cases do not come cheap. The location is also a great area as well as you are in Bairro Alto area and close to the nightlife, bars, restaurants, and the seafront. Tourist spots are walkable. The amount of space that you get in your room is crazy Amazing for a place in Europe! Water pressure and temperature is great. AC worked great! And they have an outdoor patio That’s really pretty to sit outside. they have a bar on the outside too that you could serve yourself and then just tip or reimburse later if you wanted to. Breakfasts in the morning were amazing! They had an amazing spread out. Oh my God, I’m dreaming of the jam! Lots of bread, choices, and some of those pasteis plus they would make you anything you wanted. Eggs, bacon sausage French toast, waffles omelettes you name it they’ll make it fresh. So good! They truly are amazing here. If you don’t stay here when in Lisbon what are you doing with your life?

Antonio and his staff are absolutely the state of the art of the hospitality. Everything is at its best and Antonio has the natural attitude to let you feel at home. Rooms are elegant and really comfortable, the kitchen where guest can have breakfast is new, wide and equipped with any accessory you may need. Breakfast time is my preferred one when you can sit down and have almost whatever you might have in mind. Thank you Antonio for the care you demonstrated in any request we had. We will come back for sure!

Wonderful staff and top notch hospitality! Thank you Milena and team. We stayed here for two nights as our first leg of our journey in Portugal. The hotel is well situated near bars and restaurants. We enjoyed eating at the restaurant beside it for dinner and happy hour: Grape & Bites. The staff were very welcoming, helping store our luggage both before and after our stay. They were very responsive and helpful over WhatsApp, even letting us check in a few hours early! This was much appreciated after a very tiring overnight flight. Breakfast was great! We were offered eggs and mushrooms made to order. Freshly squeezed orange juice was a lovely touch as well as the plentiful fresh fruit, coffee made to order and homemade cookies and orange bread to snack on. The only minor complaint was the street noise. Even with ear plugs, I was awoken by noise from bar goers at 2 am and then again by 5 mins of bottle collection at 6 am. Probably my most restless sleep of the trip, as there’s no soundproofing. If you value sleep vs proximity consider another property. Otherwise the staff go above and beyond. They are very personalized in their recommendations. The garden is lovely to hang out in. They let us come back to our room after we missed our early flight and were an absolutely exhausted. Even helped us make a local call to our next hotel.

They really know how to make people feel comfortable and happy. We were pleasantly surprised to see the tray of birthday greetings when we came back to our room on my sister's birthday, I agree with all the other reviewers.

It has been an amazing and quite unique stay. Only once have i experienced such a warm, familiar and welcoming hospitality and that was with really close friends in their guesthouse in greece. Unlike most Hoteliers Antonio had an honest interest in getting to know each other and to connect. I could ask him anything about the city or his opinion on various topics. Really amazing guy. The House is pretty charming. It's very old and you have these stunning stone arcs and stairs but also a lot of modern features. You can see and feel the love in the detail which makes it this awesome place. The room had everything I need. From a personal shower and bathroom to an Espressomachine. I feel like there could be even more cosiness as in pictures or plants or somethings from the past but that could be just me since i love to have a lot of stuff around that tells a Story as my eyes hover over them. I think with time it will get even better since he is so passionate and comitted about his guesthouse. If you are going to lisboa I can only recommend for you to check it out, unless you want to have a boring *** stay at one of many hotels ^^ With kind regards, Moritz

This place deserves the best reviews ever. The staff go beyond to make the experience as fantastic as it can be. Every corner of the place, every inch of everything is 100/100. The room was simply amazing! Felicidad (it is not the right spelling but we called her that, in fact she is pure felicidad), Bruno, Bruna, Antonio - the owner- and the girl from NZ  (sorry I have forgotten her name), you guys made our days. Congratulations for such a spectacular place and service. My family and I will recommend it from now to forever! Beijinhos! Iris

This was such a lovely stay. The property is beautifully renovated. It is in a great location, with a shared patio/bar area and lovely kitchen where the most exquisite breakfasts are served in the morning- everything you could possible want. All of the staff is super friendly and accommodating- they go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and cared for.

I picked LR Guest House for the great location, in the middle of the night life and small restaurants that line the old alley ways of Bairro Alto, and I was not disappointed in that respect. But a surprise was the friedly, homely and personal atmosphere of the hostel. The staff is genuinely interested in understanding each guest's needs and preferences, helpful where you didn't know you needed help, yet professional and courteous. The small veranda offers a cosy common corner if you want to chat to fellow travellers. The owner cooking you an omlette in the morning is something you won't get at Ritz Carlton. And the fress pressed orange juice! Highly recommended! Spend a couple of nights here, to enjoy Lisbon out of the middle of this historic city!

If you want PRIME Lisbon location, this is it. Walking distance to all the action. Our room was beautiful and CLEAN, bed was extremely comfortable and the smell of the sheets, lovely. The history of the building beautifully preserved. Diogo and Trezinha were wonderful. We needed just a snack after our long travels and they produced a lovely cheese plate, just what we needed. The honor bar…perfect. We had high expectations and everyone at LR Guesthouse far exceeded them.
