Metelkova autonomic cultural center exist almost 40 years. Is most famous squatter place around. Today is the place with concerts club, bar, gallery, artist studios, workshops and lots of other things. The place is very safe but rarely can be attacked by neonazis.

As I was told, the area was an army base during former Yugoslavia. When the army left the area, the artists took over the place and made amazing arts there. It is a great place for 420.

Cool place to see something different from the history. All buildings in this area are painted with different style. Also there is a big cool hotel next to the place which each room has different decoration.

An amazing place with awesome graffiti and strange art all over the place! Might look a bit sketchy but VERY SAFE, came by twice and no issue whatsoever. If you into 420 this is the place to go. Just look for dudes sitting and make an eye contact. They will know:) lol

Funky creative atmosphere. We took amazing colourful pictures. Note: They have a sign up not to take photos of the people there. So as tourists we felt a bit awkward walking around these locals sitting there drinking beer. Not sure if they were happy with our visit…

Very underground area, but has its character. Could be interesting for people who like graffiti. Was calm and no people..but looked like the place, where different parties take place. Enough 20-30 min to see all “attractions”. I believe you should be careful if you visit this place in the dark time

This free, outdoor art center was much better than I expected! The variety of graffiti, architecture, and posters were impressive and high quality. I would reccomend going on a nice, sunny day to perceive the full colours of the art.

You'd hope a place like this would improve the quality of graffiti around the country, but I'm not sure it is working. Should have worn socks in my sandals to shoe how cool I am before visiting. Did notice some mislabeled boxex of caps and stuff so might be a good place if you need some components and you're not to fussy about provenance. The place really needs some daycks, chickens and a couple of cats.

Why is it worth a visit? Because it is definitely something different from the rest of the city. Just remember to be respectful to the people hanging around there. They are no animals in a zoo...

A shocking space for not prepared. But a great place for creators and open-minded people. It has to be seen to be loved or hated. No third option available

Imagine a land in the heart of Ljubljana, where graffiti isn't a crime but a love language of the city itself. A place where you'll find a wild kaleidoscope of artistic rebellion, a riot of color, a celebration of creativity, and a testament to the boundless spirit of human expression. Welcome to Metelkova, where chaos meets color in a joyous dance of urban expression. As you step into this bohemian wonderland, you'll immerse yourself in an outdoor graffiti gallery that knows no bounds. Every wall, every nook and cranny is a canvas for artistic brilliance, as if the city's walls have thrown their own never-ending street party. But Metelkova doesn't stop at just walls. Oh no! It's a 24/7 carnival of creativity. Whimsical sculptures and installations sprout like colorful mushrooms after a rainstorm. Surreal and imaginative, they'll make you feel like you've stumbled into a whimsical dream world. This place isn't just for art connoisseurs; it's for anyone with eyes to see and a heart open to the unexpected. It's where chaos becomes a symphony, and every alleyway is a new adventure. So, if you find yourself in Ljubljana and crave an artistic escapade, don't miss out on the joyous chaos that is Metelkova. Come with an open mind, a curious heart, and a camera; just make sure not to photograph any local artistic rebels without their permission. You will likely meet fellow wanderers, free spirits, and open-minded souls here. Strike up a conversation, swap stories, and let the vibrant energy of Metelkova infuse your soul.

‼️BRIEFLY 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A must go on my opinion. Not something that you often see around everyday so really worth paying a visit. 👍 Everywhere you look you'll see colors and murals, statues and installations. While I haven't spoken to people they seemed nice 😊

Such a unique place that turned out to become one of the Must See spots. It’s not just a tourist place but it’s where actually many locals hangout to enjoy good music and good drinks.

Beautiful neighborhood near the center of Ljubljana, characterized by murals, paintings and works of art made by artists in constant evolution. Really very nice, the only attention to be kept is that it is preferable to go there at least as a couple for safety.

Alternative place with small bars and many hang out during the night . People drink beer sitting on the street and there is also some shady people around. Not a place for people in suit. More a dreadlock place .There is music events and cultural stuff regularly. But when there are no events it’s just a hang out for alternatives.

Very interesting and little bit scary place. I very much enjoyed looking at street art and exploring all hidden corners of metelkova. But there was a few of suspicious people hanging around. You should definately visit Metelkova but just know it's not the most safe place in Ljubljana.

It's crazy how the street artists transform this area! Is a unique place that definitely you need to see! But the last I visit the area wasn't like before, was a little bit dirty. I hope the gonna upgrade in the near future.

An alternative, autonomous, inclusive and free street in Ljubljana. It's like "a state within a state" in some vague sense ... It is a place where alternative point of view, which is not accepted in the mainstream, has its place to manifest itself. The street itself is a work of art where boundaries are blurred and a mix of ideas produces something beautiful. There are several clubs where concerts are held by many artists that perform there. Search for events online. A popular place to visit. It is safe to visit.

A town within a city. Great graffiti and an interesting cafe. You’d forget you’re in Ljubljana. It was very interesting and definitely worth a visit 😊

A rundown alternative place with colourful art and some bars (also definitely alternative). A mix of curious tourists and young locals. It doesn't look a safe place to be at night.

That was my place to go out in Ljubljana. At night, people hang around at the playground and drink, surrounded by a variety of clubs where many other people hang out. A lot of artsy stuff and creepy deco, had a great time here meeting people. If I ever return to Ljubljana, I will definitely be back here.

Interesting place to see with quite cool street art and installations. Reminds me of Christiania in Copenhagen.

Some of the best pieces of street art in the city. Nice basketball and volley plagrounds in the area. You must visit this place.

Very interesting place to visit. All creative souls spend their evenings there. A completely different atmosphere than in other parts of the city. You can come across a nice concert.

This is one of those places that you’ll never forget. Really amazing artwork from Ljubljana’s underground artists. You turn a corner and you’re basically in another world. Everything is unique and there’s nothing here that you’ve seen before. Go during the day and go back at night.
