5/5 London Pub M. 10 months ago on Google • 269 reviews
🚇 Highbury
&
Islington
🍺 £6.60
Camden
Hells
❤️
A
steady
Islington
boozer.
.
The
Library
is
located
at
the
top
end
of
Upper
Street
not
far
from
Highbury
Corner.
The
nearest
Tube
is
Highbury
&
Islington.
.
This
pub
was
built
in
1856
and
started
life
as
The
Angel
&
Crown.
From
2000
to
2009
this
pub
had
a
bit
of
an
identity
crisis
and
was
renamed
five
times,
Stonegate
who
own
this
pub
settled
on
The
Library,
probably
in
homage
to
Arsenal’s
old
Highbury
Stadium.
.
This
is
a
compact
one
bar
pub
which
has
two
distinct
indoor
areas.
At
the
front
is
plenty
of
seating
with
two
raised
areas.
As
you
move
further
through
this
cobalt
blue
panelled
pub
you
arrive
at
the
servery
which
is
located
back
right
which
has
additional
seating
in
front.
At
the
back
of
the
bar
is
a
false
bookcase
which
is
the
door
to
a
small
courtyard
beer
garden.
At
the
front
of
the
pub
are
some
benches
if
you
want
to
soak
up
some
rays
or
watch
the
comings
and
goings
of
busy
Upper
Street.
.
The
beer
choice
was
ok
and
keg
only.
I
decided
on
a
pint
of
Madri
but
unfortunately
they
had
run
out
so
I
opted
for
a
Camden
Hells
instead.
I
really
enjoyed
my
pint
even
if
it
was
a
little
pricey.
The
food
menu
is
all
about
@pieminister
pies,
pie,
mash
and
gravy
costs
£9.50
which
is
I
thought
was
reasonable.
.
On
arrival,
the
atmosphere
was
upbeat
and
buzzing,
there
were
plenty
of
Arsenal
fans
in
having
a
few
liveners
before
the
Arsenal
v
Wolsburg
game.
The
service
was
good,
the
Lady
on
duty
coped
well
on
her
own.
.
The
@libraryislington
is
a
steady
Eddie
type
pub
that
does
the
basics
well.
Definitely
worth
a
visit
if
you’re
in
the
area.
