For the literati, the Library is a wonderful pub. The welcome is exquisite and service exemplary. Why is it called the library? I know not. Anyway a great place to visit.

Just had the BEST pie ever at this little Gem of a pub. Just make sure you check out the secret garden and they have live music there every Wednesday. Super friendly welcome from the bar team was the icing on the cake!

Really dirty pint glasses, poorly made aperol spritz (bartender asked another one how to make it). Asked for a pale ale and they said they didn’t know if they had any (they did).

They used to have Mario Kart which is what made me go there in the first place. I took my friends telling them I was going to beat them at Mario but there was no Mario anymore which made me look like a crazy person. I'm so disappointed, I'll never be back (unless they bring Mario again to prove my friends there was a time it existed).

Quiet, homely pub. Good beer, warm decor comfortable seating. Pies looked delicious - bit didn't get a chance to try them.. but will definitely go back for a try.

Very strange vibe and ridiculously expensive for no reason. Came here on a Thursday night where it was absolutely dead from 8pm with just two other guests who quickly left. The so called “Cocktails” are around £13.50 each but are actually just a spirit and mixer with low-quality ice and zero garnish, and the staff were quite unprofessional. I felt robbed!

Lovely spacious pub, reasonably priced beer, and great tunes on the decks managed by Roscoe! (Only think lacking is chips on the menu :)

Stopped by on a very sunny day, was served by Roscoe who was incredibly friendly and charismatic. Great spot, great company - had a very pleasant time and will definitely be coming back with friends and family for a meal and few pints!

A cracking little boozer neatly tucked away with a fantastic atmosphere and garden. The staff are all great, but a special mention goes to Roscoe who was superb and so friendly. The food is great but the Pies really are different gravy, well worth a visit!

Popped in yesterday for a drink, lovely customer service. A young chap I believe his name was Karl or Kyle but a pleasant to talk to. Was really impressed was the overall vibe and service too. Will definitely be back over the summer as drinks not too pricey

🚇 Highbury & Islington 🍺 £6.60 Camden Hells ❤️ A steady Islington boozer. . The Library is located at the top end of Upper Street not far from Highbury Corner. The nearest Tube is Highbury & Islington. . This pub was built in 1856 and started life as The Angel & Crown. From 2000 to 2009 this pub had a bit of an identity crisis and was renamed five times, Stonegate who own this pub settled on The Library, probably in homage to Arsenal’s old Highbury Stadium. . This is a compact one bar pub which has two distinct indoor areas. At the front is plenty of seating with two raised areas. As you move further through this cobalt blue panelled pub you arrive at the servery which is located back right which has additional seating in front. At the back of the bar is a false bookcase which is the door to a small courtyard beer garden. At the front of the pub are some benches if you want to soak up some rays or watch the comings and goings of busy Upper Street. . The beer choice was ok and keg only. I decided on a pint of Madri but unfortunately they had run out so I opted for a Camden Hells instead. I really enjoyed my pint even if it was a little pricey. The food menu is all about @pieminister pies, pie, mash and gravy costs £9.50 which is I thought was reasonable. . On arrival, the atmosphere was upbeat and buzzing, there were plenty of Arsenal fans in having a few liveners before the Arsenal v Wolsburg game. The service was good, the Lady on duty coped well on her own. . The @libraryislington is a steady Eddie type pub that does the basics well. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 01.05.23

I was working in the building across the road and this pub caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. The staff were friendly and attentive, I opted for the for the Moo Pie, Mash, Peas & Gravy which was fresh and tasty. I will definitely head back and try some of the other pies on the menu.

The beer was flat. We politely asked to have a new one and we got a refuse. Customer service not acceptable. The beer is in the photo, we took a short time ago.

Good lager selection, nice cosy vibe and I particularly enjoyed the secret bookshelf entrance to the smoking area. However drinks are a tad pricey and tables can fill up quite quickly...

Bad service from a black guy who didn't want to change a drink that it was definitely not done properly! Horrible experience! Maybe he prefers spending his all time on the phone as that what he was doing the all time we were there and waiting to be served! If a customer complaint you guys should do all the best to make our experience valuable! Also when writing a reply to a review you should mention the right person not a completely stranger. Thanks!

Athmosphere could be a bit brighter. No music at some point but the beer is good and the staff is friendly which makes it up.

Small quiet pub without the large crowds and loud music, though not sure if music plays later as I was there for pre theatre drinks. Has a couple of heated benches outside the entrance. They have a menu claiming they specialise in pies but I didn't see anyone eating.

Nice atmosphere and staff, but wouldn't come here again for food. For somewhere that specialises in pies, they were bang average, with flavourless mash and gravy, as well as forgetting part of our order, even after being reminded

Stumbled across this pub to hide from the rain. The service was fantastic, especially from a barmaid called Ksenia! Cant thank her enough. We had a lovely conversation, the music was great and the Guiness was delicious! Will definitely be coming back :)

Love what they did with this place ! Its a nice and cosy little bar on the main street, they have two for one cocktails all the time, the food menu is a bit limited but their pies are delicious. There's a super cute secret little garden in the back. The staff is always very nice too, I definitely recommend, a little gem in Islington !

More a traditional pub than a bar and all the better for that! Good selection of beers, didn't eat but the pies look tempting!! Would think booking required for busy times.

I had a amazing time at the Library, great range of drinks such as rum an gin! Beautifully made cocktails(two for one)! The pies made by Pieminister were surprisingly well presented and tasted great!! Definitely heading back again soon!! Special shout out to Talia and Shay for looking after us, thanks 😊

Popped in today on the off-chance, was not disappointed! The 2-4-1 cocktails were an amazing standard.. such a lovely vibe and nice staff. Will visit again :)

Lovely pub located conveniently Highbury and Islington. The staff members are lovely but in particular Mel - she is knowledgeable and extremely efficient at her work. The pies served are delicious too! Definitely a place to visit when you’re in the area.

We had a good pint of Guinness but over bearing security left a bad taste. The security guy was on our back at 2255 to finish up and leave. We were made to feel very unwelcome. We will not be back.

Solid pie and mash, very helpful polite staff, recommended

Great pies. Live music which is nice. Small garden (smokering place really) and 241 cocktails are not 241. £14 for two cocktails that you struggle to taste the alcohol. Basically £7 for a weak cocktail-like drink

All they sell food wise is Pies, Pies and more Pies. My husband and I had beef and ale pie, with mashed potatoes. We're pleasantly surprise that the pies were extremely yummy. Highly recommended it.

Nice, quiet little pub close to Highbury & Islington. We visited as away fans before a Premier League 3pm Saturday KO - it stayed relatively peaceful throughout with the away fans being equally respectful of the bar staff, security etc. Would definitely return next time, along with hoping for a better result 😁

Such a lovely atmosphere! It's a great pub for people to have a sit down with friends over a few drinks. The selection of food and drinks are amazing and the staff are really lovely and professional. 10/10

A great pub with lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Have to mention the barmaid Melissa she was really helpful and also served every customer with a smile on her face

I’m sorry but the mac and cheese that I was served was dreadful. First of all, adding raw spring onion to a meal does not help it. Secondly, this mac and cheese is basically instant and not worth the price. Thank God I got the side and not the full meal for a whopping £10.50! Not worth the hype at all - avoid.

Lovely little pub! Friendly atmosphere, good beer and the service was fantastic! A young girl called Ksenia was very friendly and helpful. And the toilet was clean which is rare! Thank you!
