Lovely “public house”! We made our way here because it is one of the best preserved 19th Century Victorian interiors, when gin houses had wooden partitions and etched glass to enhance their patron’s privacy. Grab a “booth at the bar” and you’ll be surprised at the feeling of privacy! All drinks are self-brewed or -distilled by Samuel Smith’s, a unique experience for many Americans. Good drinks and wonderful staff. Stop in and enjoy the atmosphere.

Outstanding boozer. Ornate, opulent and with an unaltered interior. Sam Smith's beers make for a reasonable priced pint which is very rare in this area of London.

The pub itself is absolutely beautiful, with great little private booth areas attached to the bar itself (although that does impact seating capacity). However the staff on our particular visit were not very friendly and took a lot of effort to get her attention for drinks. Maybe they were having a bad evening, not sure. Otherwise nice pub.

The best traditional untouched real pub in London. Great range of tasty beers and lagers. The interior layout and Victorian decor is amazing. If you love pubs go here.

Beutiful and unique with its decorated walls, ceilings and separate room by the bar. Upstairs dining room that is much simpler in its decoration.

Love this pub. Unique and fascinating. Well worth a visit, grab a booth at the bar if available. Not a fan of Sam's beers but the stout was quaffable.

Fantastic Sam Smith's pub in Holborn. Very busy on a Friday night, so we initially sat near a really warm radiator, but then managed to get a really cosy booth right by the bar. The decor is amazing with wood panelling, etched glass panels and Victorian style tiles. The service was great. More reasonable prices than other places in London. Nice strong Imperial stout. Would absolutely recommend a visit here.

Don’t miss this beautiful pub. Great prices on beers. Stop in for a pint in one of the private glass booths.

Beautiful interior, far more detailed than my little phone camera could catch. Incredible wood, glass and tile work throughout the entire place. I only stayed for one drink but the organic wheat beer was the best I’ve had in London. Smooth, flavorful and a thin head that stays throughout the drinking experience. I’ll be back.

Beautiful old Victorian pub with all the decorative and architectural features. Shame it was taken over by Sam Smiths with all their quirky branded drinks and nothing from other names visible.

Visited this great pub as part of a guided pub tour. The ambience is wonderful and the service was great. Especially the small corners where you can sit separately.

The ground level pub is beautiful. The upstairs dining area is nice. The food is only average. The server upstairs was nice. A decent place to eat. But I will want to return simply to enjoy a drink in the main pub on the ground floor.

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Fish and chips and steak and ale pie were amazing. One of our favourite meals while visiting London.

Nearly always busy and a place that's in most pub recommendation lists so yes it can be touristy but not excessively so. The Grade II listed toilets are worth a visit alone but the whole place is so special and well worth a visit. Sam Smith's brewery which divides opinion but I've always found the beer to be top notch.

Called into the Princess Louise on Christmas Eve after struggling to find a bar for a quick couple of pints before having to head out into the country for Christmas. The bar grabs you immediately when you enter as you’re presented with a lavish central bar counter with doors leading off to the left and right that bring you down beautifully tiled, wooden passages filled with little nooks into the larger space at the back. Warm fireplaces, wooden columns and styling, hand carved glass and tile decorate this incredible tribute to the Victorian pub. It’s wonderful and the fantastic folks working there just lifted the place. We had a fantastic time and you will as well. Thanks to the staff and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas (and fun at the quiz that evening :))

Great decor and atmosphere, but what makes this place even better is it's Samuel Smith Organic Lager! The pub also has unique dividers. If you get there early enough with a group, you can secure a small section.

Ambience, gorgeous historic space, very capable and helpful staff, tasty meals and treats, ample beverage variety...what's not to love?!

The location of this pub is good. The interior is fantastic, a real travel down old school memory lane. The beer is shocking. What can I say, I'm a real ale person and Samuel Smith Pubs wouldn't know how to make a Real Ale if their lives depended on it. It was so horrible I could not finish my pint. Shocking. It gets three stars because of its wonderful interior only. Will never visit again as I visit pubs to drink beer, and this place has undrinkable beer.

The Princess Louise has always been my favourite hostelry in London, since the 1970's. She has an aura of Victorian magnificence with original fittings. I am always in awe when I step into this beautiful place, and one is always assured of exemplary service from welcoming staff.

Great pub with good beer friendly staff and marvellous Victorian snugs. Didn't try the food.

We tried to come here for lunch and we were not impressed. The bar downstairs is nice, but upstairs just seemed quite stale and unmaintained. While looking through the menus everything was sticking to each other since they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The carpet has stains, the seats feel sticky. It just feels like perhaps they aren’t trying so much anymore. We left so I cannot speak for the quality of the food, but the lack of effort otherwise we didn’t want to risk it.

The Princess Louise is a beautiful historical pub, with a great atmosphere especially if you are able to grab yourself one of their nookes. They had run out of bitter when I visited but the atmosphere more than made up for the need to drink lager.

Magnificently restored Victorian interior and fine San Smith's ales.

Each time I'm in London I love to have at least a meal at Princess Louise with my friend Gary. Yesterday we had a delicious meal with fish & chips for lunch, we spent a nice time there because even if it was crowded the people eating and chatting where really polite and it was a pleasure staying there for a while having a drink as well as a rest.

OMG a public house that is original, beautiful architecture, décor and a good selection of drink, mainly Tadcaster ale & Larger.

Really nice pub, very old fashioned and cosy. Sam Smiths so the beer is reasonably priced. We’ll worth a visit.

Authentic, original and stunning London pub. Service in the back area charming enough but a bit slow. Nevertheless enjoy your pint....

I was here with a friend who works nearby and who said it's her favourite pub in the area. I can see why. Good beer, friendly service and a traditional pub environment. As well as the main bar area there are side rooms with a single table where you can have a quiet natter with friends, which is what we did. These can even be booked Hey, it's central London so a pint is £6.50.

What makes this pub unique is their Victorian decor, absolutely beautiful. It has 2 stories, we sat on the ground floor for drinks (the booth was intimate) then dined upstairs in the dining area. We opted for a few pub classics to share, such as steak and ale (Tender prime slow cooked beef steak, shallots, and gravy. So good.) Whitby scampi, and finished with Sticky toffee pudding (yum). Everything was good and beyond my expectations. It is certainly a good spot to come after visiting the British museum in London. It's only a 5 min walk from the museum, also very close to the metro/tube too. You can't miss the spot. Worth visiting!

Unique Sam Smiths pub. If you're not familiar with the place, you could end up in the wrong bar and have no idea what you can order. The layout is nothing like I've ever seen. Quiet on my visit although there were a few people in the larger bar at the rear on the left hand side. Sam Smiths used to be renowned for having the cheapest pints in London but not sure if this is any longer the case. Still gets 5 stars from me however.

Absolutely brilliant. There were even real coal fires. Samuel Smith beers and lagers. Eating only upstairs so ground floor for serious conversation and drinking! The interiors are ravishing. One of the top pubs in London. Went Tuesday lunchtime and very quiet.

This is a very beautiful pub in a convenient location. The bar is in the centre and the drinking areas are separated by beautiful screens. There are seldom any free seats and the drink selection is the standard Sam Smith's offering. It's worth stopping in here for one drink to admire the room.

What a cool old Victorian place in the heart of London. Amazingly beautiful inside with tile, wood, stained glass and a fireplace. I love the golden interior all around with wooden work. When we went there it was nearly packed, but the bar tender was pouring drinks. Food is upstairs. There are no television screens. This is a place to drink and talk to your friend and family. I can't wait to go back.

A great little Sam Smith's pub. The decor is lush and if you can get one of the booths by the bar it feels very fancy. The bottled apricot beer is a dream! (But is also a bit pricy)
