I arrived on time to my appointment and was asked to sit in the waiting area. 30 minutes passed and I was still in the waiting area, no one had the courtesy to inform me my appointment was running late. I had to ask the shop staff (who were only standing around in the front of the shop together). There was no apology or explanation. My optician was nice enough but clearly overworked and not paying attention or listening to my answers as she asked me several things more than once. At the end of my appointment I was asked to pay for my eye test even though it was covered on my contact lens subscription. I had to go back into the eye test room with the optician for a further 10 minutes to remedy this. I was asked to pay £10 for an additional scan which I did before leaving the shop. I then received a phone call to say I hadn’t paid this additional £10 and could I come back to the shop to pay the balance. I went back to the shop to show the shop assistant my banking app showing I had paid them. She seemed a bit bewildered. This is really poor customer service. I understand that sometimes appointments run late but it’s basic manners to apologise and let the customer know what’s going on. I have since cancelled my contact lens subscription and will take my business elsewhere in future.

I had an appointment today Friday at 17:25 in the Lewisham branch and they treated me like rubbish. I arrived to the shop, and had to wait in reception to be attended, while the client in front of me was being attended by a member of staff. After a while, the staff member had a moment to ask me if I had an appointment and he then went to find a colleague to take care of me. I walked with her to her desk. She took her time to check all my details in the computer and then asked me what time my appointment was. I said 17:25, and her answer was that I was late and they only allow 5 minutes to be late. So she went to ask the optometrist. When she came back, she asked me to leave, because the optometrist was not going to see me, as (according to her) I was 12 minutes late, and they only "forgive" 5 minutes. I explained that I arrived to the shop quite a while ago and I had been waiting in the reception. But she repeated that I was 12 minutes late, and that I had to leave. I reiterated that I was waiting for a while in the reception for them to attend me (btw, you can check in the cameras the time I arrived there). She repeated I was not going to be attended. Then she looked back to the computer, ignoring me. I said bye to her, she continued ignoring me and I left. Today in this appointment I was planning to make the whole eye test plus the OCT, as I need a new prescription, new glasses and new contact lenses. I was going to try and buy new glasses, new contacts and some contact solution, all in that shop. Obviously Specsavers in general and Lewisham brand in particular have a lot of clients and they don't care to lose some of them. My partner uses glasses and contact lenses too, and she is a client of Specsavers (but not anymore from now on). That's fine, losing clients and money, but, please, stop treating people like rubbish. It's vital to be kind and to show respect, especially working in a customer service role. I left my job early to travel to Lewisham and I spent money in the train to go there. Also my partner did the same, as she was going to help me to find new glasses. But it turns out it was a wasted trip for both of us. I feel like I was treated unfairly today and that an excuse was given for not keeping my appointment. I know I was not 12 minutes late, arriving to the shop, and it was a long time after my arrival that it was pronounced that I was 12 minutes late. I feel really upset about the way that I was treated and it really did ruin my evening. I won't go back to any Specsavers shop and neither will my partner.

Very good service and everyone is very nice and helpful. The lady on the phone who booked my appointment was super helpful and Ms Kuda (Doctor? Sorry, not sure) who checked my eyes, was brilliant - so friendly, polite and efficient. Definitely coming back when I need my sight checked again.

Horrible service Edit 29th Aug: Realised there was a response from the owner and have replied back. However, need to post my response here as well for others to know the quality of service at their Lewisham shop. "I was told to collect my glasses 2 weeks after my order (2nd July) and even though I had informed that's the most I could wait, they had promised it won't be delayed further than that. And yet when I went to collect my order on the day I was promised (July 16th, a Sunday), I wasn't given a clear answer on why it was delayed. I was told next day or after two, I'll get a call to pick it up. I never received the call and after repeated follow ups as I was leaving on a Friday for travel, and after too many arguments with these unprofessional staff, I finally received my order that Thursday(20th July). The main sunglasses with prescription lens was of really bad quality as it kept falling off (I had received another normal glasses as there was a deal on it). They did try to fix it a bit, but during my travel it again became loose. I have never visited them back yet to fix it. The worst part was the unprofessional trashy lady in the shop who kept making sarcastic remarks when I finally went to collect my glasses on 20th July. She kept speaking to her colleagues about me as how I must be very important to demand a service to be delivered on time!"

Staff were great. No complaints. I broke my glasses and needed new ones fast, they gave me a walk in appointment and I collected my glasses 3 days later. Amazing team . I wish I could remember there names 🙈

Good, but they lack more funky glasses frames... I noticed that specsavers do not offer glass cases but are willing to give a cut-out material like cases that offer no protection at all, hence my 3 stars. The staffs are nice and very polite and offer appointments.

Lovely Solange at Lewisham SpecSavers helped me get over my fear of wearing contact lenses. Very patient and calm. Agree with previous reviewer about lack of funky frames too though - although difficult to find hose in any high street store.

Absolute worst service I’ve ever experienced at a specsavers. I have been a patient/customer for about 15 years now and have always had excellent service untill I transferred to this branch. Terrible handover/ documentation of phone discussions. Lack of understanding of issues and always left waiting with no updates over the phone when promised. Empty promises made regarding care until you end up paying for nothing as they withhold your contact lenses for upwards of 6 weeks. Having to keep your own log of discussions because they are unable to keep their own of events and transactions is just not acceptable and I do hope that the regulator takes a hard look at the practices going on at this store as they are not only unethical but a risk to those that seek services there

Transferred after being with Eastbourne branch for 12 years who were fantastic to a rather awful service here. Been with Specsavers as an organisation 25 years but felt like moving to another Opticians after lenses going missing. Address had been input incorrectly, but many other problems like ordering expensive individual lenses over phone directly with branch, which then never got processed. Never being able to get through to the branch. Finally requested an appointment with the manager who seemed rather indifferent. Asked if I could transfer to another branch and only offered 1 other possible which I later found out they also run. When I rang H.O. learned there are many other branches close by and they are basically franchised with private owners. Have now left Lewisham. Sight test was done well but anything else especially to do with lenses was sorely lacking. Various individual staff were kind and courteous. Specsavers Customer Service H.O. are very good.

Really satisfied with my visit. Special thanks to Busi Khabo the optometrist at Lewisham who was quite thorough throughout the examination.. she explained the procedure so i understood what to expect.

Busy store opticians ok staff seem too rushed and wanted sell me expensive frames for reading glasses that I don't need to use often. The lens will be quite expensive so I don't need £300 frames on top.

Thank you. My glasses came out better than I expected. This is the first time I am wearing bifocal glasses and I'm happy with them. I can't thank you enough for the explanation and the care you provided to me during my visit.

I ordered contact lenses one month ago now and still waiting for them. This is the first time I use Specsavers for this and I can asure there will not be a next one. Unbelievable it takes so long. I've been using lenses for more than 25 years and never had to wait that much, just 3-6 days. I called them and they told me the reason for the lateness is the special gradation. False! And these are tryal lenses. If they expect me to wait the same everytime I need a pair they are totally wrong. They have lost a client before geting it.

Worst customer experience haven’t been able customer for 20 years. After my contact lenses been lost in transit due to airline baggage issues. Refused to help me with temporary and lenses, Which is fine. What was more worrying was the tone in which the manager spoke to me. Rude Abrasive and dismissive. Not acceptable!

I went in to Specsavers to get a new pair of glasses a few weeks ago as my old pair had broken. I was greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful man who assisted me with checking my records and then later after I chose my glasses. At the time he was only there 4 weeks but did an amazing job. His colleagues were helpful when he needed to double check something and he was just so positive and excited to learn. Overall it was such a great experience and I even left the shop smiling.

The wait time was ridiculous when I visited - some poor woman had been waiting nearly an hour. I've always had to wait, no matter what time I've made my appointment, but the last few visits have been very long. One wonders the purpose of making an appointment when they don't keep them. The staff can be very unprofessional. Poorly dressed, chewing gum the whole time, not dealing with customers in a timely fashion etc. The optician I saw didn't even know about two very common eye conditions and that concerns me. I've been using this store for about 25 years and over this time I have noticed that the quality/professionalism of staff has very much declined. Also, the selection of frames is very limited. Although there appears to be a good selection they are very much of the same style. A certain pharmaceutical optician has a much greater selection on offer (though the costs are MUCH higher too). I believe I will go elsewhere in future due to both the lack of quality in the staff and the lack of choice in frame styles.

Great service for eye tests and frames selection. Dan was very helpful in finding me the right frames that suit me. Frame shopping usually takes me hours, but his expertise and experience made the experience painless.

Arrived for a 10am appt, and wasn’t seen for almost an hour. When enquiring almost an hour later, I was told there was a staff shortage. It would have been helpful if they had informed me of the delay upon arrival, or at least kept in the loop re delay to my appointment so that I could carry out other tasks. Considering one is sometimes spending £300+, it really doesn’t make sense to have such a poor service. It just feels unprofessional. I’ve been to Specsavers all around London and it’s a shame this shop shares the same brand. There was just a general sense of all customers in the store being unhappy with the service and trying to figure out where they were in a long queue. When I asked where I was in the queue, the staff member told me she wasn’t sure why I hadn’t been seen ahead of others, which left me startled because if she doesn’t know, then where does that leave me.

Excellent service all round after needing an appointment that day, as a result of a potentially worrying health issue with my eyes. All the staff couldn't have put me more at ease, were very thorough and explained everything so well... and walked out so happy after nothing serious found. Never had an issue with this branch, always friendly staff, and have been visiting for many years. Recommended.

I have used Specsavers Lewisham since first needing glasses around eight years ago and have always received an exceptionally high level of service from all staff and extremely well-finished products. The last time - just a few days ago - was no exception to this, with Victoria being my main point of contact in the store and doing a superb job of finding the right frames for me and of taking me through the entire process with great charm and professionalism. These qualities were also evident from Kuda (who did the digital retinal photography and worked out what prescription I needed) and from Yohana (who did the eye health checks and other various technical things). In sum: great staff and great products at this store.

Fantastic customer experience. Booked an appointment online the evening before, loads of available time slots to choose from. Seen by the optometrist team bang on time. Thorough, professional and friendly examination. Extensive social distancing in place and being 100% adhered to by all. I tried on several frames, all of which were scrupulously cleaned before being returned to the display. Excellent customer service from Lilly who provided me with expert advice and helped me choose the best frames for my face and wallet. Super efficient and welcoming team vibe from all members of staff. Literally couldn’t recommend this place more.

First visit, issue was you measured my pupils wrong so glasses were causing strained eyes and headaches so delays in my order. Second visit, issue was regarding contact lenses and was promised these before I went away, this did not happen and I was called a week after the supposed date whilst I was on holiday. This last visit and final one for me was you put the wrong lenses on the wrong eye, I asked for them to be rectified and was told it would take a week this was not good enough as i was again going away I was promised these by the Friday which did happen, but... One of the lenses is stuck out at the top a lot and looks like it will fall out, so 2 issues for one order... Will that do for you? Yiu have caused me stress time after time

My optician was very good and helpful, although her name escapes me, and hats off to Dan who was very patient and jolly as we went through most of the glasses on display

Very positive experience at Specsavers in Lewisham. A lady at the desk was super helpful and nice. I’ve got my glasses broken, one nose pad just fell off. The lady fixed it in one hour managing to find a matching pad. I also checked my sight with Dr. Antony. It was quick and painless, and the doctor was very caring and friendly. Would definitely recommend to use this very shop.

I went today to purchase some glasses, it's the first time I've been in that particular branch. I was served by Batuhan a young gentleman who showed kindness patience and attentiveness in a store that is visibly dealing with difficult customers. I would definitely recommend going to see Batuhan if you are going to get a fitting.

The optician I saw was brilliant. I would give her 5 stars. BUT BEWARE Unfortunately the lady who took my pressure test put me forward for an in-depth test without asking if I wanted it. She also arranged the purchase of the glasses and added reflection proof coating and getting my lenses made thinner without asking me. Luckily I realised and asked her to breakdown the cost. If I hadnt realised I would have paid more than twice the price for the glasses. Think this is really not on with the cost of living crisis.

Eye test was fine, but all the staff stand around talking, had to wait for appointment for more than 30 minutes before we were seen.

Worse service and the store is run disastrously. Went into the store and was given an appointment for the next day. Went in the next day and was told I don’t have an appointment booked. Meanwhile there was watermelon on the shop floor as you walk in, the store was loud and rowdy, customers were complaining left right and centre. Couldn’t wait to come out.

My neighbour broke her hearing aid at 16:00, just before all the audiologist equipped businesses in town were about to shut down for the 4 day platinum anniversary jamboree. She had been really looking forward to the television coverage of the event but without the correct battery for her third hearing aid she faced being totally deaf for the whole length of the holiday weekend. I tried specsavers who searched high and low but simply didn't have even one in stock. Many thanks to all at the Lewisham shop for their efforts to help.

The pros of my visit is I selected glasses that was right for my sight. The cons are that the shop is ghetto. Your not greeted on arrival. Half the staff look like they don't want to be there. Your told to sit down and then they just walk off. Where exactly do you want me to sit ? They didn't help me look for glasses either. Very unprofessional. Next steps, please improve your customer service. Its not a friendly atmosphere.

I would highly recommend this branch out for anyone! I popped in to browse for some glasses and ended up leaving with an amazing pair coupled with an amazing customer experience from Joseph and Ty. Ty was very patient with me even though i was very indecisive and made me feel very warm and welcome. His customer service was excellent! Similarly Joseph was very kind to me and gave me nice and honest opinions on the glasses i tried. Would definitely recommend this branch to anyone, everyone here is very lovely!

On my last visit I didn't have a good service. I came as I was called to pick up my glasses and when I arrived I was treated like I am there to bother them. Long wait and unpleasant experience this time. Really dissatisfied this time.
