Great service, food, and drinks. Waitress and manager were super friendly and attentive. Food came out quick and was piping hot. Authentic taste and vibes. Drinks were strong and delicious and kept coming. Cute indoor seating and decorative art on the walls. Nice music, fairly quiet, convenient parking right out front. Peaceful part of town.

Really good Taco plate and good portion size. I had the #7 combo and was happy with my choice. I wished they had some hotter salsa, but liked the one that came with the meal and chips. Will go back again for sure

Honestly the best beef taco I've ever had and their rice was the Mexican rice you remember as a kid! Plus I don't usually like margaritas but something compelled me to try the raspberry Grande Marg and it was 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 perfect! Definitely going back.

Normally order takeout from here and it is pretty dang great, so I decided to go inside for a change and experience their good food hot and fresh. Didn’t even get the chance to order, me and my friends sat in the dining area by the bar. It was a little warm in then and I noticed they had ceiling fans close by, as we were greeted by our server (older Latino fellow, didn’t mention his name nor was he wearing a name tag), I politely asked if he could turn on the fan for us. He was quite rude with his response, “You’re only hot because you walked far to get here. You just need to cool down with a margarita or beer” then chuckled and left. Gave him time to see if he was actually going to do it, he didn’t. He catered to other customers first, didn’t even ask if we wanted anything to drink or anything. Ended up just leaving because I didn’t wanna give my business to a place with rude staff and it’s a shame because their food is actually decent.

I love this place! This is the original and first location for Super Mex. My order is always a #7 - two tacos, rice and hold the beans. The chips and salsa are also great!

They were great until covid. Ever since orders are incomplete, food is old, fryer oil isn't clean, chips are burnt. They even gave me expired salsa.

Best Mexican food in Long Beach. I am a very traditional eater and not a big fan of beans and rice and other foods. So when I went my 1st time here I was surprised and thrilled because they out of all the places I have ever been to. Were the only Mexican restaurant that has gotten my order correctly and I make it a point to stop in for any type of Burrito with out having to open it and pick out all the beans and rice. Trust me you want great food and are as picky as myself. Go here and try it out. You won't be disappointed.

$20 for a Super Mex burrito and a coke. Way overpriced, the food was average at best. The sauce on the burrito tasted like canned enchilada sauce not fresh made. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place for the reasons listed above.

Actually our second choice since another option was closed but the experience was good. The waitress was nice and attentive and very accommodating to minor off-menu edits (it likely helped that there weren't many people inside). As for the food: The chips were nice and crisp but needed a touch of salt, though I didn't try the salsa which could have helped with that The wings were really good with the chips and melted cheese, didn't like the guac personally though The poppers were difficult to bite through so it wasn't the best The mini chimis were okay but definitely pick beef over chicken The carnitas quesadilla was pretty good with the sour cream The raspberry iced tea tasted like regular iced tea

The place was very clean, there was pleasant music, and the bar area has a TV with sports on. We ordered chicken wings; they were good, crispy. The combo plate was ok. I think they use Colby cheese which can be very greasy, refried beans tasted like Rosarita's can beans. Extra tip when you order a chile relleno they might ask you if you want the original or spicy; original is an anaheim pepper (sweet pepper) wrapped in a cheese omelette👎 for god sake they need to take that off the menu; spicy chile relleno is made with a poblano chile (mildly hot pepper), filled with cheese, dipped in fluffy batter and lightly fried👍this is closer to the authentic mexican style chile relleno. Flan was yummy creamy with cinnamon flavor and caramelized sugar😋 A little pricier than other places but they have $1.95 taco Tuesdays so we might come back for that. I'll update my post. Waitress was nice and very attentive.

The staff is friendly enough and flavor of food was decent, but there were multiple issues with them bringing the wrong food, forgetting beverage orders, charging us extra for sauces we said we didn't want... She accidentally spilled on my clothing and I felt bad because I think she could tell I was getting frustrated. We just were not impressed. We had simple orders and were patient even though it took like 40 mins for the food to come out.

Ordered a carne asada burrito. It was OK. I still can't understand why Mexican joints won't offer ground beef for burritos and tacos. The experience of eating steak-like carne asada (too much effort) and hamburger is night and day. Regardless, the waitress was sweet and attentive.

Last minute choice, got the job done. Ordered the taco dinner and was only disappointed with the potato filling in the vegetarian taco. I expected pieces of potato but it was more like they threw in some mashed potatoes instead. Otherwise everything else was great. Good service too.

We love SuperMex and this was our first time at this location. It was the usual great food and friendly service as the other ones.

Ordered the beef cosido. It was great. Fair portion price a little high but then what isn't now a days. They have been a mainstay in the area. The food is above average and tasty. Parking can be a little tricky since it's near the beach and down town LB. Staff is friendly and nice.

This place is definitely a must try. First time visiting Long Beach and found this place close to our hotel. Fresh homemade guacamole and OG Margarita. The food was all good and drinks too. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Oh, I love Mexican food! One of the best Mexican restaurants in Long Beach is Supper Mex hands down. They have a delicious variety of dishes, including my absolute favortite the Number 23 combo. It's a flavorful combination of a taco, enchilada, Chilie Relleno and rice and beans. Definitely worth trying! 🌮🌯🔥

The food is not quite authentically Mexican. But it definitely has Mexican inspired dishes.they do provide chips and salsa with your meal. 👍🏼 I ordered the chimichanga The rice and beans were good but the beef inside the chimi was tasteless. flautas were supposed to be chicken but actually tasted like pork. The chilaquiles were soggy. And it was paired with a runny egg. The coffee as ok. But they had no creamer. The brought us low fat milk. But they didn’t say nothing until we poured it in our cup. We complained about it. But they did do anything about it. I will not be coming back.

Yum!! First time after living in LB for 9 months. Nice to get some great food. Tried the Chicken and Steak Super Mex Burrito my husband and I split and it was great. Horchata didn't taste watered down. The made to order guac was also good. Will definitely come again for drinks!

By far my favorite sit down and relax with great food kind of place. The salsa that they serve you while you wait for your food is so yummy I end up pouring it on my meal. The tostadas are made fresh. Everything there is well made and the prices are not bad for the quality, quantity, and taste. I think that this is the best go to for authentic Mexican food in downtown Long Beach. If you are visiting or here for one of our many conventions and are looking for a good bite, great atmosphere, good service make sure to come in here and you’ll keep coming back, hopefully it’ll be so good you won’t even want to consider the other sit down options.

I simply enjoy their dishes. I always get good service here. The place is clean and the workers are always friendly. Will visit here again.

I wasn't very happy w/our food & also the time it took to finally get it. What was suppose to be 20 minutes took actually 45 minutes. That in it if itself was a bit long. I was hoping that since it took so long maybe the food would be even better, fresh but sadly again I wasn't pleased. Both meals, which btw was extremely expensive $50 bucks for 2 taco dinners w/two tacos each side of rice & beans come w/it & bought a Lg.soda. $50 bucks for what we got ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT WORTH paying $50 bucks for it. Very bland, no real taste plus the tacos just fell apart & it was very slimy on top by the lettuce & cuz which made the tacos fall apart. All of it very disappointing to say the least... IDK Super Mex use to be my favorite while growing up but as time went on, as prices continued to climb up & up, the quality seemed to diminish for some reason. I'd think that they'd use better ingredients to make their food better quality ESPECIALLY since the prices continued to go up in price. But obviously quality has gone down but prices continue to go up... Kinda ridiculous.

They gave me the tiniest cup a salsa for an entire meal. And one flimsy napkin

I love this place! They have awesome meals, their menu is large, The chef in that restaurant is a specialist, I like very much eating all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the customers is friendly. I go often to this place and I not even once was discontended. Highly recommended.

I’ve been going to Super Mex in DT Long Beach since 1989. It was good then and it’s still good now. It is absolutely THE BEST Mexican Food I’ve ever had. The consistency is unbelievable. I’ve been to Mexican restaurants all over the country and Mexico included, and none come close to being as good. I’ve introduced my son to Super Mex who is 20 years old. And he will also tell you that Super Mex is the best Mexican Food that he’s ever had.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. NOT authentic at all.
