Absolutely delicious coffee. I recommend the almond latte. Great service. Cute little spot. I will definitely return!

this coffee shop has such a cool and laid back vibe going for it. it's in a great location as well. i got a barista recommendation of a coffee from ethiopia (iced) and i enjoyed every sip. i let them know i didn't want my coffee too sweet and they picked a great option for me. if i'm in the area, i'd definitely like to return and get a pastry and try another coffee as well.

Dope spot with comfortable vibes and plants. They have plugs for those of you that like to need power while working. The menu is extensive but probably something for everyone. Friendly staff too. I came on a Tuesday.

I will never walk back in this place. I really hate leaving bad reviews but being respectful isn’t that hard. Extremely unwelcoming barista. After I ordered 2 men walked in asking for iced drinks and the barista told them she ran out of ice (mind you I got an iced drink). I understand you may be closing in 10 mins but it doesn’t mean that you should be unwelcoming or treat someone like they don’t belong. Any other person would have complained but they just said okay and purchased something else. If you wanna close the store 10 mins early just adjust the closing time accordingly.

Exceptional. Roast their own coffee. Pour over was perfect. Vegan donuts perfect accompaniment to the coffee. English muffin sausage breakfast sandwich worthy of ordering again. Avocado toast delightful.

Came here before my cruise and it didn’t disappoint. I got the ice honey vanilla latte and breakfast sandwich. The coffee was pretty good and the sandwich was delicious. I wasn’t sure about the ketchup sriracha, but came around to it and it gave a good flavor twist. Parking was a tad hard if you don’t want to park in the garage, but ended up finding one around the corner after a few minutes. The service was great! The lady working while we were there was awesome. She was very nice and helpful. I like the ambiance of the place. I don’t mind “hipster” vibes, they usually have my kind of coffee 😂

Cute little coffee shop, good coffee, but overpriced, underwhelming food. For $8 a sandwich, I would expect a fresh fried egg, but this one seemed almost microwaved. The bun was overly toasted and completely dry. My coffee and sandwich came to a total of $14 which I thought was pretty expensive, the quality of the food didn’t match up to the price

As a local, and as a huge coffee lover, I’ve tried almost every coffee shop in the entire city. I’m lucky to have Recreational so close to me because it’s one of the best. They’ve always been kind, are always playing such great music and providing a great atmosphere, have always been a great spot to work or study, and always have the best coffee. I’m going to emphasize the coffee part because I know a lot of good coffee shops that seem to forget the most important part of the business…the coffee. Recreational provides a dope spot to work and chill and etc. while offering high quality coffee (and food). For some reason, a lot of other coffee shops forget that high quality coffee is a thing. They might provide a dope spot to study, but they’ll serve you actual black tar and call it coffee. Recreational is the opposite and provides quality. Note: it’s pricier, BUT you get what you pay for…which is utter greatness! Message to the owner: my ONLY gripe is that the hours are shorter now. You used to be open until 7 and I would frequent you guys much more often. But, I will opt to go to philz or even the library just for their hours…despite, for example, hating the coffee at The Library and despite them having no AC. Hours are important to me since I am someone who works and studies all day/night. But, maybe that’s just me. Either way, just wanted to put that out there in case others share my sentiment. Other than that, you all still earned your five stars for sure.

I have been coming here almost every day for over a year, and the Therapy blend coffee is some of the best in town. They roast and blend it themselves. My favorite thing to order is the Iced Chai with Oat Milk. The new owners are really cool and the staff is so thoughtful and friendly. Oh--and they always play great music! They serve vegan donuts, too, along with tasty pastries and savory toast from avocado to prosciutto and ricotta. I have two pups, and they greet them every time and have complementary treats on hand--Very dog friendly! This place is AWESOME and makes my day! I will post pics of my visit next time. I literally am so bad at that 😩

Stopped by after a run downtown & ordered an iced coffee and egg sandwich for $18. The vibe was a little off at the start from the worker I had to let them know it was my first time here. The iced dulce coffee was good 8/10. The egg sandwich was a 6/10 it was basic & verrry greasy from the bacon - the whole sandwich was full of grease. Overall it’s okay

Great coffee! Friendly staff. I had the sausage egg sandwich and it was so so good. I forgot to take a picture. They also have seasonal flavors too

The atmosphere is good, the drinks are good, and the bread is good. It's a place worth visiting. It's an okay place, just a typical coffee shop. The coffee shop is small but decent. I had a latte for coffee, and it wasn't very tasty, but it tasted okay.

Indeed Recreational if your experiences are of the coffee genre - no special equipment needed unless you count your taste buds and sense of smell. Drip coffee was amazing with hints of chocolate and maybe a little cocoa as well. Latte was smooth and artfully presented. Make the hike - it’s all about recreation these days - and relish the cool vibe and outstanding coffee at this one-of-a-kind coffee shop. Cheers!

I like this place. Been here many times in the morning for a quick coffee date with my husband. There's always people working and since they're testing the fire alarm at my building and I had phone calls to make, I came right over but holy cow! Why is the music SO loud!?! It's a coffee shop not a night club! Might as well have stayed in the fire alarm situation. Wasted $6 on a chai latte that I never touched because I had to go find somewhere actually quiet. No one could hear me on the phone and you could feel the music shaking the chairs.

Coffee nerds: this review is for you. I'll keep it brief. - They pull the shots well. My wife loved her latte without any added syrup or sugar. - The drip coffee is great. It was a washed Ethiopian that had a nice forward taste, vanilla on the nose, and a syrupy body and mouthfeel. - The pour over I had was a natural Ethiopian. It was fine, but to my surprise, I liked the drip more. Usually I prefer naturals. Overall it's an unpretentious shop that's not trying to be too much. Just here to make good coffee. Worth stopping by.

Ordered cafe latte and they did not have low fat milk. Luckily they had almond milk and tasted just as good. Very friendly staff.

This review is for the drink only, which I got to-go. I had never gotten a charcoal coffee before and I shouldn't have tried one that day. I went off of the baristas recommendation (he was super friendly, by the way) but unfortunately, this drink was just not good and definitely not worth the price. I for sure will not be trying a charcoal drink from anywhere else ever again. The atmosphere of the place seemed nice, but can't comment on that much since I didn't stay.

I was picking up parts of a tower crane across the street from Recreational Coffee cafe on a Saturday afternoon. I decided to try it out and they recommended an Ice coffee with Oat milk, it was the best Natural Ice coffee I ever had. I had to go the following day(Sunday morning) to pick up more tower crane parts and I was looking forward to get my Ice coffee with oat milk. Let me say is was the best weekend I had while enjoying my Ice coffee from “Recreational Coffee”. Very cozy friendly place. I highly recommend it.

Cute place for some great breakfast, me and my wife recently moved to Long Beach and while exploring our neighborhood we came across this place and it was great. The food was perfect, I loved my breakfast egg and bacon sandwich and my wife loved her avocado toast, the mocha iced drink was very small tho and the price for 2 mocha drinks + the food came up to nearly $40 so I would say this place is quite pricey but nonetheless very good !!

This cafe is beautiful and they have a delightfully unique coffee menu! I had the iced basilfruit coffee; it was wonderfully refreshing. The basil versus coffee flavors were perfectly balanced. I adore basil, but I’ve never seen it in coffee before. The cafe is thoughtfully decorated and the staff members are really friendly. All around great coffee shop!
