Location is phenomenal! Beautiful scenery. Church is beautiful. Confession is at 1430 every day. Mass is at 0800, and you are able to receive communion. Gift shop opens at 1000 and they have a massive selection of books! The monastery makes their own beer and honey, which is available for purchase. Scenic trails are around the monastery, making great contemplation routes. Would love to come back, I believe you can stay the night.

A peaceful place! You can come here with your family for relaxation. Mount St. Bernard Abbey is a Roman Catholic Trappist monastery founded in 1835. The abbey was the first permanent monastery to be founded in England since the Reformation and is the sole Trappist house in England. The church was consecrated on 20 August 1844, the feast day of Saint Bernard, but was to remain unfinished for more than ninety years. Charles Dickens  is reputed to have spent some time in retreat at the abbey, though he is not enumerated amongst the list of celebrated visitors in the monastery's 'Brief Historical Sketch'.

A spiritual powerhouse on the north westerly fringe of Charnwood Forest. The energy of the site is tangible ... something that is invariably acknowledged, even by those of no faith. Small wonder that so many are drawn to this isolated foundation, which has to date attracted more than 11,000 followers at Facebook! 🙏

The grounds are very well kept and the view of the Abbey from thr car park is simply stunning. I was fortunate to visit on a sunny day. The inside of the Abbey is simple, quiet but completely absorbing. I went into a short service where the Monks chanted, amazing experience. The gift shop is excellent l, recommend the monastry brewed beer Tynt Meadow and the honey... all round a must visit place...

An extraordinarily peaceful place of God. Even if you are not spiritual inclined and live around Leicester area with some time to spare, visit this abbey. There’s a sizeable parking and clean toilets. There’s even a gift shop. If so inclined, try the ale, which though not cheap (at £3.30 per bottle) it’s a must have. There’s also the mass held if you seek His guidance.

This is a wonderful hidden gem, a place of peace and calm. Not Christian myself but the feeling of being in the company of a deeply spiritual community is food for the soul and will bring you closer to whichever God or Goddess you honour. Please buy from the gift shop, it supports the monastery and their work. I cannot praise their Trappist Ale high enough, Tynt Meadow is delightful and moreish, a must for loves of dark and flavoursome ales. After a look round we made a sandwich and sat at one of the picnic benches, enjoyed the peace and quiet, and of course, my Tynt Meadow. (We live in our campervan and the cider was in our wine cellar and not purchased from the Monastery)

Great gardens to walk around and a really impressive old granite building. I would recommend taking the cavalry walk, as the views from the top are impressive. The beer that is brewed by the monks is incredible and can be bought from the small shop on site. The shop is closed on Sundays.

Lovely peaceful place. The grounds are beautifully kept. The gift shop has a mixture of things made at the Abbey and traditional Catholic religious items.

A nice place to have a quiet walk or just sit and rest. Free Parking. A must visit if you like religion based buildings. The monks there have no outside funding so if you can leave a donation or visit the shop.

Visit here when I need calm and reflection and light a candle. Always helps to visit a place of peace like this. Sit in the church or walk around the grounds, always a place to soothe.

This place is outstanding and leaves me with a feeling I cannot even describe..! (And I'm not even religious) The honey and home made beer is fantastic. I highly recommend going into the shop!

Very quiet and Holy place, but very dark too - although it was 3am. Unfortunately, a lot of litter (beads, prayers to Mary, and prayers for the dead) on the walk to the statue on the hill.
