PRO TIPS: 1. Place your order online for pickup. There was a very long line out the door and as soon as I got in line I placed the order and we were about halfway to the register when my online order was ready. We waited in line to get drinks but we didn't have to wait for our food order. 2. Download the app so that you can get your free frozen pink lemonade. SHARE: -Loaded Potato Wedges or Crinkle Cut Fries - I wouldn't recommend these only because the toppings made the potato wedges very soggy especially the pickled onions and the portion is extremely large and we barely touched it. -Cheesy Chicken Poppers CHOOSE YOUR MEAL/PLATE: -Tenders - my portion on the tenders (3 to an order) was much larger than what was on the sandwich and less messy to eat -Sandwich - messy and the bun gets pretty soggy from all the sauce -Tacos -Salad Sandwich -Salad -Mac & Cheese CHOOSE YOUR STYLE: -No heat/naked (just fried) -Some heat - I'm pretty wimpy so this was the right amount of spice for me. -Hot -X-Hot - my SO liked the spice level but later in the evening had a stomachache -Gonzo (+$1) CHOOSE YOUR SIDE: -Coleslaw - really crunchy and creamy, everything you want in slaw to offset the spice on the chicken -Broccoli & Bacon Salad - same as coleslaw, delicious combo -Mac & Cheese -Spicy Potato Wedges -Crinkle Cut Fries I also got a Royal Chocolate shake which was rich and decadent. Overall a great meal!

This place used to be amazing but it has taken a serious nose dive. Whoever decided to change the chicken they’re using should be let go. It used to be the star of the show, big juicy tenders fried to crispy perfection, this is no longer the case. All 4 pieces I received were laughably small and noticeably lower quality than previous visits. Keep in mind they want $2.50 a piece for these tenders, they should be substantial! It seems like they have changed their recipe and their poultry supplier both for the worse. The sides are still good but the restaurants name is not “Royals good sides”. It makes me really sad to leave this review, at one time this place had the best chicken in town.

I got the some heat chicken tenders… and they were really crunchy and crispy buttttt the flavor was so bad it tasted like cigarette butts. Do not recommend getting that flavor. The ranch was also really bad. Almost like they added water to the ranch. The wedges were really good tho. So maybe get regular chicken tenders and wedges but save ur self the sadness of getting the flavored chicken.

Royals is a perfect fast, delicious meal. I got the 3 piece tender for $8.99 with spicy fries (they were sadly out of the broccoli & bacon salad). I went with the x-hot and while it definitely brought on the tingles it was more flavor than fire. I will definitely be back to try more.

I was in Louisville over the MLK weekend, during this time, I ate at several great restaurants. The hot chicken sandwich at Royals is hands down the best thing I ate while there. It was so delicious, no description I could post would do it justice. I washed it down with a chocolate bourbon milkshake. If you’re in Louisville and love food, do not miss this spot!!

The chicken was good. Pretty standard. Extra hot was very spicey but not I'm going to die spicey. They do serve alcohol. Restaurant was clean. Recommended.

Excellent hot chicken. I recommend the "hot" heat level. The extra hot is a good heat but is a little too bitter. The "gonzo" is without exaggeration the hottest chicken I've ever tasted. The Kentucky honey mustard was fantastic. Potato wedges were crispy and well-seasoned. Mac and cheese was okay. Atmosphere was casual urban/modern. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. You order at the counter, and service is minimal but prompt and friendly. My wife asked me to add that the women's bathroom was not very clean and had a lot of gnats. Street parking is pay-to-park. Overall, a good place for a casual bite to eat.

The sandwich I had today is definitely in the top 10 best things I've ever eaten. Being a vegetarian, I got the hot tofu sandwich. Perfectly seasoned, a little sweet, savory, a nice amount of heat and just delicious. I could eat another one right now. The cole slaw was also delicious. 11/10 would go again.

What Royals Hot Chicken does right: -Has an incredible staff. -Has delicious food. What Royals Chicken does wrong: -NOTHING in my eyes. I can't believe I haven't had this chicken sooner... And the HOT is the perfect HOT... I'll be back. Probably tomorrow and every tomorrow after that.

I really enjoyed the X-hot chicken tenders. I find this way too hot for me but I enjoyed it a lot. Also the broccoli salad is so delicious too! They have good variety of chicken you can chose. This place is more of flavor by how much heat you can handle it. They have good selection of beers but try their milkshake with bourbon in it. So delicious. One important tip to know that I accidentally forgot and felt bad. Clean up your table by throw away things. I didn't realize it after I left. SO i felt bad. Very important to clean up before you leave. Their fish sandwich is phenomenal and it is huge. Go and try it. Still the best. Even the Jumbo Chicken tenders are yummy too!

Loved the is place. I had the regular hot chicken and it was a decent amount of spice and sweet (does have cinnamon and sugar as part of the blend). Containers for outside seating are an amazing touch. Would love to go back next time I am in town!

Wow! X-hot is definitely hot, make sure you get a bourbon slushy if you go that route. Also, buy every sauce, 100% worth it. Cole slaw was creamy, and french fries were crispy. Great atmosphere and staff. Plus they have prosecco!

Great chicken - had the chicken salad sandwich - didn't care for the bun. Liked the broccoli and bacon slaw. Loved the Exlir kombucha. Child had the tacos with no heat. They were great and his side of Mac was excellent. Spouse had the tender meal at " some heat" with the Mississippi Comeback sauce. The sauce is NOT like wing sauce so expect some texture to it. It had a nice amount of heat. Has the chocolate chip milkshake and great ice tea. Would definitely recommend. Fast service. Order at the register and get a number and the order is brought to your table. Clear your own table.

Great juicy, hot chicken and fast service. I devoured my meal, the hot chicken tacos, then took the rest of my wife's and son's meals. Ain't no body safe around me with chicken this good, ya heard. Drop in and get you some juicy hot chicken.

Got lucky on the road trip and came across this place. The chicken is juicy and straight fire! Their Nashville X-Hot style is literally everything. The heat is perfect without being over the top. Also those spicy potato wedges are the perfect side to keep the heat coming. There is so much flavor to them. If you are gonna be in the area and want to eat some hot chicken, you gotta stop here!

Cannot recommend Royals enough. I had the Hot Chicken Sandwich. It is cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Very flavorful. You pick your heat level. What more could you want? Staff was very friendly. They have plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Do yourself a favor and try it out!

The chicken tenders were a little too hot for me but the meat itself was very tender. Don't forget to quench the heat by milkshake. You can also buy a souvenir T-shirt at the cashier.

Get the hot chicken with a milkshake! (You’ll need it) the chicken is spicy but flavorful. Deliciously crunchy and juicy. And the milkshake will help put out the fire in your mouth (and belly). Best hot chicken I’ve ever had.

Great counter service spot for hot chicken! Chicken was breaded nicely, was very crispy and not soggy. Had some kick but wasn’t that spicy at the “hot” level. I wish they toasted the inside of the buns a bit more, but that’s my only complaint. Overall, great establishment for a quick bite!

X-Hot Nashville Hot Jumbo Tenders (3 piece) on toast was super tasty and definitely had that kick! I was hoping the bread was toasted (or more toasted), and the tenders would be bigger. I'll roll with the full sandwich on the bun next time. Glad we stopped in though!

I asked a friend, where's some good fried Chicken, with no hesitation he said Royals, and he was right. This place is absolute fire, the chicken, the sauce, the fries, the potatos, the drink selection, my one complaint is that they don't have Honey Mustard, THAT'S IT. You go in, you order at the counter, you only have a few choices, you sit down, not even 10 minutes later the food comes, looking fresh, tastes absolutely amazing, and you get to chill in a nice lil seating area, inside or outside. Def my new "That chicken place". You also get to pick how spicy you want your chicken, I went with "Hot" and it wasn't spicy but friend went with the one above and he was getting spiced.

My very first stop for a meal when visiting Louisville. The hot chicken was absolutely delicious. Even better was the wrinkle fries.. I don't know what the secret sauce behind the fries was, but they were crunchy, oil less and on point. The Mac and cheese however had a different kind of taste for me, didn't feel like it had that home made flavor to it. Top notch customer service. Thank you guys, I will do my best to sneak in one more time before my trip is over.

Good food in a semi fast food setting. We got the chicken tacos and they were good. The hot was enjoyable. Not too spicy but still had a little bite.

Hands down some of the best hot chicken ever. Easy menu to choose from, choose how hot you want your chicken to be, and boom your food is out with a very short wait. I got the paminto hot honey chicken, the breading was absolutely perfection, extra moist chicken, and my hubby got the Royal Chicken hot, he said it would go back for all meals of we lived there. Not only were the sandwiches on point (even the buns were the legit) the sides were delish too. We got the broccoli salad and the coleslaw, this place clearly knows there stuff. We shall be back, if you open on in WA we will be your #1 fans. Thanks for am awesome lunch, plus a beer and a shot, thanks Royals!

I’ve wanted to visit Royals Hot Chicken for some time now and they did not disappoint. If you don’t already… you have to follow them on Instagram. The food is amazingly delicious and such a cool vibe in the restaurant. Great beer selection and amazing “adult” slushy!!! Give it a try!

I usually walk sometimes to this place for a good chicken tacos and potato wedges that I love. I came in today and the potatoes looked burnt when I asked the lady if this was ok she said that because of spices but I’m pretty sure the oil is burnt and they taste bad! Never coming back!

The "Gonzo" is NO joke. It broke my husband! LOL I had the medium hot and it was perfection. It's a nice place, nice staff, and good spicy chicken (the shakes help if you had to much heat).

If you are in Louisville, you need to stop by at this place. They have the best chicken tender. Crispy outside and juicy and soft inside!! I tried classic fried & some heat & Hot and my favorite was classic fried taco. For the side, definitely try spicy potato wedges with Mississippi comeback sauces . The workers were friendly and nice!
