This is the filthiest hospital I have ever seen. The floors haven’t been cleaned in weeks. The counters where medical equipment is used are so dirty they have a film over them with streaks. There was a puddle of water in the triage floor that the nurse proceeded to clean with a rag and her shoe and then took my sons temperature without even washing her hands. So disappointed in what is supposed to be one of the best hospitals in the country.

Filthiest hospital !!! When I tell you going from ER to ICU room was a nasty mess plZ believe me. The floors looked as if they had not been cleaned in months . Trash on the floor from where the nurses dropped stuff to candy wrappers- it was disgusting. No way that room had been cleaned after the last patient was in there. Black sticker stuff all over the floor AND droplets of blood. I have a video. To bad it can’t be shared here. The patient care was a 5/10. Shame on U OF L

Worked there. Would not take any of my fam or friends there. Reviews are accurate. Sometimes patients didn't even get fed. Nursing staff is overwhelmed due to staffing shortages. Travelers are brought in to help but they are just passing through and not committed to the place. Patients have to wait ungodly long times for transport. Lab is a joke (lab management is underqualified for roles). I have never left a review of a hospital I have worked for before. This one takes the cake for hands down worst operated and most dirty hospital.

The ICU on the 4th floor was amazing. They had nurses who really cared. My dad got moved to the 5th floor and started choking. I yelled out the door for help and pushed the nurse call button and no one was in a rush to help my dad. Eric his nurse came after a minute and was looking for a suction to suction him out and it wasn’t even hooked up. He had no urgency in helping my father while I’m telling my dad stay with me Eric will eventually help you. Finally got him suctioned out but the color had already left my dads face and he was no longer coherent. I was told he would get pain meds every 10 minutes and after calling the nurse for more pain meds it ended up being 24 minutes. They made my dad suffer when the whole point was to make him comfortable.

This is the worst I have ever been treated anywhere! My son and I traveled from out of state to be treated horrible. I went to the transplant center and the front dest staff were rude and had zero answers. The surgeon I was to meet with had an emergency and I understand emergencies happen. My schedule seeing to other doctors I thought went very well for the initial interview, but the nursing staff needs additional training on compassion and general communication with patients. My exit communication with nurse "lisa" my son and I understood that I have serious roadblocks I need to work through. I was given a reasonable time-line to get this accomplished. We left hopeful that I would be able to do this. I went into my dialysis center for treatment this morning and was told that "lisa" chewed them out for referring such an unacceptable patient and that they basically closed their books on me. I was shocked! I will not be returning under any circumstances. I am also filing an ethics complaint. No wonder this hospital has so many negative reviews!

Friendly people and they keep you informed and up to date on things. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. I felt like I was in good hands while there.

Stay away from this place. Over the past years I've always chosen Jewish when I needed emergency care. Never had a problem. Always clean and professional staff. However....on new years night I tripped on a rug and fractured my hip. I requested EMS to transfer me to Jewish not knowing it had been taken over by U of L By the grace of god I was able to survive 4 days in that building . Had it not Bern for the fact I could not walk when I was brought there I would have exited immediately before surgery. All staff were rude and completely uncaring. From The ER to surgery to critical care . Once I got a walker to assist me I signed myself out AMA Rooms were filthy I had a bed meant for a child The door stated open constantly so I was able to listen to all the nursing staff partying it up every night. None of my meds were given to me and my rings were taken off during surgery and never found. I contacted several people over the rings and was told Sorry...you should have not kept them on when coming to The ER I would drive to Indiana before I stepped foot in that place again. No compassion and zero empathy for anyone

The worst outpatient and inpatient experience ever! Do not come here unless you Have to. Id like to understand why you are asked to be here at 630 am for an outpatient procedure at 730 am but the doctor doesn't even show up till 9am. Our time is as valuable as his.. I cant show up to appointments an hour an half late, I'd be rescheduled. Needless to say.. Still Waiting for procedure to be done! Ridiculous...

If I could give them zero I would was forced to transfer to them by Owensboro Health for an infection in my hip replacement. Got zero carry of meds even though they were supposed to have everything sent to them since I was transferred by ambulance. I wasn’t even sent to the orthopedic floor of hospital I was in room 665. I was told I would have to wear a heart monitor if I took something for the pain even though I do not have any heart issues and had been on pain meds without one. I never saw a doctor till 11:30 and didn’t get any thing to drink until begging for it at 10 and no food till 2:30 and when they told me to order food the phone didn’t work. They told me to get on bed of X-rays even though my pain was so bad I had to be sedated at the hospital who transferred me to get a MRI done. This is a picture of my bed rail notice the rust on it. I am there for an infection in my hip joint. Also I had a fly buzzing around in my room. Glad they have such sanitary conditions. Since I got such poor care and I had not idea when I would see the orthopedic surgeon, his PA said maybe Tues this is Sat now, I left to go to Baptist Hospital if they can’t admit me I will go back home 2 hours away and try to contract my surgeon at that point. Also when I pointed these things out to the nurses I was told it was not their problem or nothing they could do about it or they were working hard to help me snd sorry the hospital didn’t live up to my expectations. I doubt it would live up to anyone’s and the things they could fix never got done. They are over worked and there is not enough staff on that floor for patient care another reason I left. I can see why they hospital is the worst ranked in Louisville. I was told this is where everyone in the state comes to get there messed up joints fixed, wrong Baptist does a good job I know I’ve been there.

I would not want to repeat what the front desk staff said about themselves. The doctor or nurse that she was talking to laughed about what she said about her own self and it was scary. One nurse said she would get back to me, she did not. When I left after waiting two hours and no-one helped me for an attack of a laceration that went through fat and muscle that I have on video, I just saw hospital staff smoking outside. I went to another hospital and they helped me and they gave me service like they were being paid to give service.

I wish I could possibly give 0 stars. I came in for severe chest pressure and pain, low blood pressure and fainting. This was the absolute worse experience I have ever had in a hospital in all my 51 years. Apparently 78/29 bp is not concerning enough. I was admitted to the Cardiac Observation unit (same floor as the emergency room). Dirty, no windows, it seems to be an inconvenience for a person to push the the call light. It's very depressing and Dark. I was given one meal. I didn't see a doctor until the evening, he finally moved me to a regular floor. I have an aneurysm which was never even acknowledged. I'll treat myself before I come back again.

Other than the excellent nursing staff, this hospitals neurological team is a joke. Mother-in-law came in with a stroke (could barely talk, left side was weak, confused) she then got admitted and tests were done. Her symptoms improved and the next morning they symptoms were back. She was then told by her doctor Dr. Brown in neurology that it was in her head and the tests weren’t picking up anything. This woman was scared and unable to communicate well, and was told by an annoyed doctor that they don’t see anything wrong and was discharging her (can’t walk, can’t speak unless slurring) they then brought in the discharge papers and tried to slip in a “patient refused treatment” form. Now they wouldn’t discharge her for hours. They knew something was wrong (couldn’t figure it out) and tried to have her sign stuff to get her out with having the responsibility of mistreating her. Do not go here. Go to Norton’s brownsboro

Wow if I could give 0 stars I would… I have NEVER been so disgusted with a hospital in my life as I have here at Jewish U of L. Do NOT take or leave your loved ones here!!!!!! I have so many complaints I don’t know where to begin. Staff is mean, lazy, and rude. Staff includes all doctors, nursing etc…. Absolutely no communication between them. And don’t worry about discharge, it won’t happen unless u stay on them. None of my meds are being given to me. NONE….. hitting call light is useless. Floor 6 is HORRIBLE! Absolutely filthy. Floors are sticky and trashy. HIPPA laws don’t matter here. I had a nurse try to argue with my over one of my meds that I have to have, right in front of other staff walking in and out of the room and people walking by the room. They don’t shut the door or even turn lights on or off. No gown changes, no sheet changes (while laying in dirty sheets due to nursing errors) I am appalled at how I’ve been talked too and treated here. I am here from out of town and let me tell u I call it Alcatraz prison….. why communication between nursing and doctors don’t happen is beyond me. The doctors who DO come into see u are in your room for 20 seconds tops and ignore all questions asked. Please do not bring your loved ones here. I am convinced they tried to kill me.

Nurses on 6 west were rude and had no empathy for their patients. My family member could not get anyone to do anything for her after major surgery! I would not take my dog there for care. Surgeon was great and it is a shame that he has do his surgeries in that disgusting hospital😡

My first visit at Jewish Hospital for surgery was as great as one can be. Friendliest Staff that I have encountered over the years. I knew that Dr. Williams was a wonderful doctor/surgeon, however, every staff member that I met was friendly and helpful. The Nurses and Doctors, male and female, were supportive and caring and made me feel comfortable and less nervous about my surgery. I am a picky person but I highly recommend Jewish Hospital!!

I literally was cringing in the hospital bed, crying, knowing that if my recent late husband were still alive he would be absolutely livid!!! I have told everyone that matters that if I were on my death bed, absolutely do not take me downtown at UofL/Jewish ever!!! Only Nortons for me. I am severely traumatized. I thought all hospitals were cleaning looking, up to date, the hospital beds, wheelchairs, and furniture were from the 70’s!!!!!!! Legit from the 70’s. Never had as much back pain in my life. Yes, the nurses were nice. Oh my gosh. That’s it. Warning. Do not go to!!!!

If I could score no stars that would be the case. I will never step foot into this hospital again. There are no words to describe how I have been treated. I highly recommend that you stay as far away as possible from this hospital and any of the hospitals associated with them. Please do not respond with the automatic response to call.

My mom is in there right now. She is 80 and crying. The doctor is rude! The nurses have been good, but there should be no one in there making her cry in her state. They are not giving her meds she has been on for her nerve damage. Tried calling 562 3775.....no use

On Oct 17th 2023 around 12:30pm or so, we entered Jewish ER after walking out of a Norton's ER for lack of help. Jewish waiting room was full just as Nortons was across the street. I told the gentleman at the desk I though my husband had a stroke. Within minutes he was in a private triage area with three people. Then he was immediately taken back into the ER and and put on a bed in the hall. They didn't have a room in a private area for us but it didn't matter because they were paying attention to him. We knew he was safe there. From the bed in the hall they did blood work, urinalysis, xray, ekg, CT and ordered am MRI, which was all done within hours. He was admited later that day. The MRI proved he had had a mini stroke. We spent the next 3 days at Jewish where the care and staff was exemplary, from the lady who emptied our trash, to the people who took his vitals and every Dr and nurse we saw they were all friendly and attentive. I can't say enough about how organized Jewish was. If this had been more serious or if he had had a second stroke while at Nortons, I am not sure what the outcome would have been. You have to be your own advocate. Trust your instincts.

I'm not one to speak negative on anyone or business but this place has went completely downhill. Before you start with it's due to Covid excuses please continue reading. This building use to be Jewish hospital. Jewish was first class in cleanliness and patient care. That is not the case any longer. U of l has turned this building into the same condition as their other facility on Jackson and Chestnut. Rude and disrespectful staff from reception to Doctors and especially nursing staff. I honestly believe you could have a dozen broken bones and you will just lay and suffer through the pain. Every single doctor assumes you are a drug seeking addict. Never will I step foot in that building again. Jewish lost it's excellent reputation bonce U of L took over. Trust me....just keep on driving past this facility.

On Wednesday I was witness to a scene unfolding in a room in ICU… a Father, four daughters, a sister, three surgeons and me. The spokesman for the surgical team was amazing. Even though the message he was delivering was the last thing anyone wanted to hear, he was informative and compassionate in assuring the family that their loved was not in any pain and that everything that could be done had been done but the out come was unchanged… machines were keeping Carolyn alive as her organs continued to fail. My faith in Family was restored as I watched four grown women reach through their own heartbreak to console their Dad and reassure him that they would all get through this somehow… the last vestige of hope having just been laid aside. The surgeon answered questions that came mostly from the Father as best he could - some questions just have no satisfactory answer. Their faith in GOD was on all their tongues as they tried to reconcile what was just told them with what they believed. Somewhere in the back of their minds their worst fear had come to pass …. the one constant in their lives was not going to make it… The Father somehow found the strength to thank the team for the monumental effort that they had made and the care that was given his wife.

My grandmother was just here on the 4th floor and when we came she was laying in her own urine, which she said she told the nurses over and over she was wet! The nurses are nasty, the food is horrible! She said the only people up there was nice to her up there was the dietary people. This hospital is sad.... We decided to move her to another hospital which was Norton's across the street.

The doctors, nuses, medical assistants, haves been a pleasure to deal with. The only reason they didn't get getting a star is the case manager they drop the ball. As we was told they just have to find a place. We was just wanted our family remember closer to us then cross the start 3 hours away from her home and 2 hours away. from family

Hello All. If you have the option take you and your loved ones anywhere else. This place (one nurse in particular) gave my wife’s information (she died there) over the phone to people I had never met before my wife was sedated the entire time. I signed no DNR but they didn’t even try to resuscitate her. This nurse even let someone who I had never met that my wife had issues with right before she went to the hospital FaceTime with her in a vegetated state. This place is awful. On Thursday they tell me she’s making progress on Saturday she died… my whole world is upside down now. Died October 22nd what’s worse is they gave her stuff to a person who lives a very long way from me. The secretary answering the phone in Neuro icu just said Sorry and hung up. If anyone with legal expertise sees this please tell me if any of this is illegal? Two relatives died there in the span of 4 days. UNACCEPTABLE…

I give this hospital 3 stars, but all 3 stars are only recognized because of very few. Dr.thomas and Dr Stephen, also a wonderful traveling nurse by the name of Penny. These three made it very comfortable in the micu1. Truly amazing people. Thank you for all you do, and thank you for being so kind. Sincerely room 237 from September 14th through September 17th. 2022.

A month before I came into this facility I was scheduled to have my gall bladder taken out. Right before my scheduled surgery my liver enzymes skyrocket. I have itchy skin and yellow eyes. U of L downtown ( great service) found I had AIH. My gall bladder was never removed. A month after this happened I went to ER because I had severe abdominal pain. My urine looked like blood. I stayed in this location was it was they worst. The floor doctor continued to think I was on drugs or alcohol and even called my family provider. My provider even found what he was saying silly. He made me feels like I was lying. I was in so much pain. He kept making me so test saying they couldn't find anything. He was a liar. Dr. Miller ( who is awesome) removed my gall bladder. He said it was they worse he had seen. He said it just split apart. I was given antibiotics because of that. He said this was no normal gall bladder removal. The day I had my gall bladder remove I had a nurse name Maria. I would not wish my worse enemy to be cared for this women. I was in so much pain after surgery it took her 3 hours to come into my room. She said I was not allowed too have pain meds. She lied also per Dr. Miller. The floor doctor and that nurse need to find new profession. I will never return to this hospital.

I have nothing but praises for Dr Kartha and all the nursing staff from start to finish (sorry too many names to shout out and to remember). The nursing staff was very friendly and considerate. However, one area of improvement is the recovery rooms. If they are all like the room was I was in, tan and gray stripped was very dull not much write about. If they would be more like the office area with the polished wood and golden and red colors thrown in, it would make ones stay a little better.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Don't send your family here or let another hospital send your loved ones here unless you want them to have a long drawn out death. Dr's don't listen and come to conclusions without any real basis to it and their "heart team" is a complete joke.

I've had two recent visits to Jewish. While no one enjoys being there, I feel as if I was treated well. The entire staff on the third floor was nothing but courteous and kind for my week long stay. With that said, a few employees really stood out to my wife ( she stayed with me all the days and went home at night ) and I. They should be recognized for their outstanding efforts. This list would include Lan, Ana, Angela, Triniti and especially Dr. Sleen. It just seemed that these individuals went above and beyond while I was in their care. Thanks!

The nurses Anna and Jessica on 5 east were very good and gave my Grandma excellent care who has dementia and had overdosed on Lithium. My grandmother was mean to them and combative and they handled it very well. Jessica was very professional and did her job even when the other nurses were scared too. You should give these ladies a raise.

The new parking garage pay system is terrible. First of all there is an assumption that everyone has a smart phone. Secondly, to expect elderly and non technical people to understand how to use a QR code is ridiculous. Even though I had no issues in doing it, it was very time consuming. First I had to find glasses in my purse so that I could fill out the online information and enter in my credit card numbers. Then I had to get out of my car to verify my license plate number. There was no way to obtain a discount from my doctors office, where previously they validated my parking ticket. Bottom line… you need to be enticing people to drive downtown for their doctor appointments, not making it more difficult and expensive when your competition in the East End allows parking to be free.

I would give them a 0 if it were possible, I was patronized and made feel like my chest pain and breathing problems were not important. I truly didn’t even care about pain medicine I just know that what was going on was not normal and they didn’t care. I would not recommend going if you expect to be taken seriously.

Only come here if you want to die!!! I was recently hospitalized here. My meds were always 2-3 hours late. If you’re in pain, forget getting your pain meds. I waited 8-10 hours when I was supposed to receive them every 6!! I kept pressing my call button asking for them and all they would say is “my nurse will be there soon”. It is downright ABUSIVE. I will never come here again.... EVER!!!!!

Was taken by ambulance there for perforated bowel. The surgeons were ok, but the nursing staff except for a couple were rude and unpleasant. Asked for some cough medicine, because I developed a cough while in there. Asked Tuesday afternoon. 2 different nurses and 3 doctors. I finally got some mucinex on Wednesday morning. Would not ever want to go back to this hospital again. I would advise anyone it to go here.

My husband had surgery at Jewish and the Dr and staff there was amazing very attentive informative and caring. One particular lady that was at the desk in the waiting area was amazing I watched her constantly keeping people informed of there loved ones. She would give them updates whenever she would receive them. The board they had set up as well with the status of your loved one was so nice and took some of the stress and worry off waiting and wondering.

This hospital needs a lot of help! The hospital is disgusting and so depressing! Its so dirty. The place needs remodeling bad. The nurses are extremely rude. My Dad had one wonderful nurse from the weekend shift and she kept us informed and stayed on top of things and treated my Dad wonderful! If it wasn’t for her we would have stayed in the dark not knowing anything. My Dad was ordered by the doctor Thursday morning his medication. He did not receive it until Friday night! We were told Thursday when we were leaving that his medication had just arrived from down stairs and assured us that he would get it soon after they finished what they were doing. Nope! He didn’t get it! The next day my mother got to the hospital questioning why he still hadn’t had his medication and they said let me check. My dads door was open and my mom heard them out there whispering about it! Yep you all screwed up! Thankfully the next day was Saturday and he finally got a wonderful nurse that apologized about everything. She got my Mom all the answers she needed from the doctors and even had the doctors come over on a Saturday to speak to my mom. Thank God we finally got him out of there. It is the worst hospital in Louisville that we have dealt with. I wish they would improve since UL took over! They need lots of improvement, its a hot mess there!

Went in with severe pain that I thought was heart attack but it was related to an infection in my intestines, they did absolutely nothing to help with the pain and made me feel like I was drug seeking just because I’m in pain management for my back. The doctor wouldn’t even come back in the room to speak with me he made the charge nurse come in and she treated me like I was an idiot!

Jan 2 -4 2024. I got transferred to Jewish Hospital from another location. They are short staffed like everyone but it's uncalled for the lack of communication and yes I let the head nurse Angela how a few nurses treated me. I never had such rude nurses. I do want to give a kudos to Brittanny and Tasha where the best out of 5 nurses. DO NOT TELL A PATiENT THEY'RE GETTING DISCHARGED TWICE AND THEN SAY BAD NEWS NOONE IS HERE TO READ YOUR LAST XRAY UNTIL 6AM.
