The Culmea Pricopanului route is quite a demanding route. Watch the weather carefully. It is pleasant to walk on a cloudy day. I climbed from behind the monastery on the blue-striped route to Vârful Vraju, after which we descended to the tables and then to Vârful Piatra Raiaoasa. I recommend that you have appropriate footwear.

Culmea Pricopanului este o parte a munților MĂCIN care fac parte din lanțul preistoric al munților HERCINICI. In prezentarea zonei se scrie că au o vechime de 255 milioane de ani. Sunt constituiți din granit care datorită vechimii a fost erodat in timp asemănător cu calcarul dând naștere la forme fantastice. Din păcate versantul vestic este mutilat de o carieră de piatră.

A very beautiful rocky mountain landscape with a great panoramic view. You can see beautiful wildlife and very old granite rocks which show their age, as this is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the country. You wouldn't expect to find this kind of experience so far from the main mountain range.

Easily accessible, a tour of 1-2 hours, gives you sensations equivalent to a tour at a much higher altitude!

A spectacular route, which I have traveled several times over the years. The difficulty is medium, but dose your effort, admiring the landscape, taking pictures, enjoying nature, and it will seem easy. It is a ridge route, from where you can easily spot the Măcin Branch of the Danube, the Brăila bridge, the towns of Măcin, Luncavița, Jijila. Don't forget to have enough water with you, and of course proper footwear.

Most beautiful mountains, even if small. Unique nature and area, Romania's oldest mountains. Heat sensitive people should avoid them in late July & august.
