This is a wonderful and detailed mural painting in Lyon. Starting with an idea to use the mural paintings to decorate a huge blind facade and its advertising hoarding in 1986, and after a couple of times to record the new changes, Mur des Canuts turned out a famous picture spot in Lyon time by time. I highly recommend this as a place to visit, it’s definitely worth the time to go there.

Unique and Captivating spot The Mur des Canuts is primarily recognized as a historical landmark, as it features a beautiful mural showcasing the city's history. The ambiance of the place is quite charming, as you can feel the authenticity of the city's culture within its walls. The staff were friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. While my experience was overall quite positive, there were a few areas where I felt improvements could be made. For example, the service could be a bit quicker during peak hours, and the seating arrangements could be more comfortable. However, these minor issues did not detract too much from my overall experience. What truly sets Mur des Canuts apart from other establishments is its unique historical significance and cultural importance. The mural is a beautiful work of art that truly captures the essence of Lyon's rich history. I would highly recommend visiting this spot, as it truly is a one-of-a-kind experience. In terms of suggestions for improvement, I would recommend the owners invest in more comfortable seating arrangements and perhaps offer more diverse menu options. These minor changes could help attract more customers and enhance the overall experience. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to explore Lyon's rich history and culture.

The big wall trick-arts painting which was made in 1987, 1997, 2013 and every time it was painted, it was changed a little bit. If taken properly, the pictures would look like real.

Murs de Canuts in Lyon is seriously mind-blowing! This place has this massive fresco showcasing rebellious silk workers from way back in the 1800s. It's like stepping into history with a splash of art! I was left in total awe. If you dig Lyon's past and love cool art stuff, you gotta check it out.

This is a must do and I would encourage the walk up to see small pieces of wall art along the way from the lower part of the city. Art installations like these being so much vibrancy to the area. Also if your in need of a caffeine boost after walking burning cat cafe in the area is a great place.

Jaw dropping beautiful mural. The size and detail is one of the most impressive I've seen. A must see in Lyon.

Wonderful painting located on a wall in Lyon. I visited two times and it looks always beautiful. You can reach by Metro and nearest station is Hénon. It is open area, can be visited at anytime. I recommend to visit if you haven't watched any large mural painting yet.

This mural is amazing! 10 ish stories tall, on the side of a flat building. Looks 3D! We had to go up to the building to see if it was actually flat. Metro line C gets you within 1/2 a block.

It's the largest mural in Europe. Nearby are some information boards about the mural, how it came about & the two updates (1997 & 2013) since the original. The info is in French and English.

Very impressive mural, and incredibly well detailed. The characters in the mural look very real and the activities they do are relevant to the current day. The murals are redone every decade or so in order to reflect the current architecture styles, and themes of the day. For example, the walls done recently have a theme of sustainability (as seen by the wall gardens, which look very real by the way). Will definitely recommend a visit if you are around

The biggest mural in Europe! So lifelike and it’s great to see the information boards of how it’s been updated over the years to stay current.

Absolute stunning mural. Bit of a walk to get there, but the walk and the wall are both worth it.

An amazing immersive fresque that decorates the whole facade of the building. It’s the largest in Europe and was painted over the years starting 1987! It’s a hidden gem that definitely is worth the visit

These are spectacular but there are no clear directions in guidebooks how to find it. We wasted a lot of time walking in circles.

The beautiful picture on wall, with clear information (in English too). We can spend 10 - 20 minutes there. The minus (for me) is that it is a little far and not nearby other visiting places

Stunning mural! Almost 3 dimensional in aspect. It has been updated 3 times since 1987 to reflect changes in society.

I loved this place. You can take metro to get there but it is also nice to walk around this vicinity. I went in spring sunny day and really enjoyed the nice view from the hill.

It is a really nice piece of art. However, note that it is only the art on the wall and there are no other attractions around.

Very interesting "murale" covering the whole large wall of a building and creating the illusion of a stairway in the village

  • 5/5 AperolSpritz J. 1 year ago on Google
It is massive. The mural was first completed in 1987 and has gone through several changes. If you take the metro, it’s a very short walk from the station.

It is definitely the most beautiful fresco in Lyon, you absolutely must see it. You cannot leave the city without having it visited!

Nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort to visit. Murals are cool and but i didn't research it, so i didn't really take time to wander around ... 😬😬

Street art of great quality in a ancient neighborhood where you can have a great view over Lyon. It was a ancient place of proletarian people, but now is a fancy area.

  • 4/5 Tim H. 2 years ago on Google
A bit far from the central area of Lyon; round trip would takes about one hour from the old city, for instance. Not sure it’s worth visiting if you don’t have much time in your visit to Lyon.

Amazing art. Can seat on one of the benches on site and watch this piece of art. Easy to reach by Metro.

Amazing mural covering the very ugly building.

  • 5/5 Johan P. 1 year ago on Google
It looks much more impressive live than in pictures. Proper 3D effect going on in the painting.

  • 4/5 Ana Rodriguez G. 1 year ago on Google
It's fine but the area, that neighbourhood has nothing. Metro C was closed and I had to walk down, which is not a problem... But is a huge hill and I would say dangerous. Not a very nice walk down.
