This is our favourite hotel in Lyon, fantastic central location just off a quiet piazza with plenty of shopping and restaurants close-by. The renovated rooms are very comfortable and stylish, and loved the unique touch of using local artists to make the murals and mentioning them too. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Absolutely cannot beat the price for the quality.

This hotel is in a very nice location next to the Lyon Theater and close to Vieux Lyon. Lots of nice restaurants around. It is what you expect from a 3 star hotel, but at the same rating, there are better options around the same neighborhood. There is no hot breakfast (some similar hotels have) and the Internet is slow. I have no complaints, all I am saying is that the reviews are too positive for no reason.

We asked for a quite room and they gave us one off the street. Very quiet. Happy with the bed and pillows. Bath nice. But a little cramped. Hard to get past the oversized sink. Shower leaked at the bottom of the glass. Wish breakfast was included. 13€ works for business travel. Front desk service was excellent. But, I'm knit picking. Would stay again.

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the room was the cleanest I've ever been in (the bathroom was absolutely spotless, including the drains and even every corner). The water pressure was among the best I've experienced in a hotel. The location of the hotel also cannot be beat. It is in the ideal spot for a hotel in Lyon. A super nice area with tons of restaurants and bars just steps away.

The Hotel des Artistes is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in not only in France but elsewhere in Europe. The room we had was large (in France!) and elegantly decorated. The beds were comfortable, obviously of high quality, as well as the fixtures in the bathroom-- the shower in the bathroom spanned the whole wall. I couldn't believe that such an elegant and spacious room (including a walk-in area within the room with a small refrigerator and electric teapot) would be available at such a reasonable price. The location is also perfect: right near everything on the peninsula, next to the Saône where the Sunday Marché St. Antoine is, and a bridge away from the Vieux Lyon. An excellent value and major find for future visits to Lyon.

We had several rooms for a family gathering in April 2022. The rooms were nice and just what each of us, singles or couples, needed. The breakfast with the friendly chef were a delight. The location is ideal for visiting Lyon or attending a conference. On top of all, the support of the reception, managed by Elize, with efficiency, ittligence, sensitivity and charm, turned it into a perfect and great stay. Ariel

I was a single person in a double room so the room space was generous but others in my party who had singles were cramped. The room is stripped - absolutely no toiletries, just a container with liquid soap. No water or way to make coffee. You can get just coffee but you have to go downstairs and they bring it to the lobby and won't let you sit in the breakfast room unless you are purchasing breakfast - even when it was empty!! The bed was too soft and there was just a heavy comforter. The room was never cool enough so the comforter was uncomfortable. It was not a good experience. The redeeming factor was the good location.

I really like this Hotel for its position in the city center and for the service. Hotel staff is always very nice and competent. Being there many times and I've always stayed well. Also it's currently under renovation inside and in the rooms. Maybe I would appreciate a little more choice for breakfast, but overall it's more than acceptable.

I stayed here for two nights during the light festival in December. The hotel's location is amazing - very central but a bit hidden away next to a theater. It was great to be able to open the window. The room was spotlessly clean. That's probably the most important thing I look for. The hotel itself too. Housekeeping between the two nights was done well. The beds were comfortable (not too soft/not too hard), with good quality bedding. The bathroom had 2 sinks and a shower with good pressure. I liked that the toilet was in a separate room. It was quiet. We had a mini-fridge. The two very small comments: it would have been nice to have a set up for tea/coffee in the room and EUR 17 per person seems too high for breakfast (or at least maybe there could be a lower price option for people like me who eat a small breakfast). Overall, we had a nice time and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel without reservation.

THANK YOU ELISE AND MARGO!! I appreciated the hearty welcomes and advice for me (US traveller new to France). My trip would not be the same without your help. The hotel was nice, clean and functional. There are cafes nearby to enjoy the full French experience. The water front is only a few hundred feet away where there is often a “farmers market” with produce and local shoppers. It is also very close to Place Bellecour, a large square with mass transit and easy delivery to the main train station. Be aware fir US travelers that smoking is more common in France than in US. My room smelled a little musty when I entered but cleared up quickly after turning in the air conditioner. I return to Lyon in Dec/Jan and Hotel des Artistes is at the top of my list for accommodations.

Clean and comfortable room which was perfect for our 1 day stay in Lyon. The room looked newly renovated and had a stylish aesthetic. The hotel is right next to the Soane river and we could easily walk to the old town. Also it’s comfortably reachable by bus from the Lyon train station. Only issue for us was the air conditioning which was not strong enough and hence it was a bit warm even though we were here in late October. But it was not a big issue as the beds were really comfortable and we had a good sleep.

Thin walls with music blasting on repeat past 3am, they are lying about having air conditioning - they don't, there's a dial that does nothing and they know about it - and the rooms get hot even in January. The bed has only a comforter - no sheet - for when it inevitably gets too warm. Good wifi though.
