The hotel designer went too far when he/she got to the rooms. The 3 chairs were too uncomfortable to sit in, the desks just looked grotty, the concrete block bedside tables were too small. We were pleased to see a jug and 2cups. But there was no creamer, no teaspoon, no coffee, no hot chocolate and only one sachet of normal tea. Why then bother to provide a jug? On top of this no toiletries in the room. Overall this generated a total feeling of discomfort. The rooms really are 2 star in what is claimed to be a 4 star hotel. The silly thing is that these things are easily fixed. They undermine the excellent job done by reception staff and , in general, the design that from a marketing point of view provides a point of difference.

The room is very basic, small with a small bed. Defintely not a 4 stars hotel. Also, the parking is expensive, very small and hard to access, even with a normal sized car and very good driving skills. The staff was very kind and helpful, 5 stars for them.

This hotel is very different. It's like rustic chic. I've never experienced anything quite like it. So there are many bad things about the hotel. The pillows are lumpy, the shower hell and soap are basic, the noise on the street comes through the old windows, there's little machines everywhere for different things but in different places. Water machine in one place but coffee in a different place and then an orange juice machine somewhere else. Breakfast is also quite complicated and you have to kind of pack a picnic in getting your food. But the location is quite good in the touristy old town. And the people are very friendly. The bed itself is comfortable and the room was very clean. As for business. I wouldn't recommend it. The WiFi is quite poor and drops often which is impossible for meetings. There's no where comfortable to work. In the common areas there's always music resulting in me making a little office in my room. The chairs were awfully uncomfortable so in the future I wouldn't stay here on business or even as a tourist. But I have the feeling this hotel is one of the best in the area.

Worst night sleep I've had in all of Europe. I regret not asking for a refund. TLDR; no hot water in the shower or sink, broken thermostat/air-con, room was small and cramped (nothing like the advertised photos), tiny window that barely opened (again, nothing like the advertised photos), 2 convenience store floor fans were present in the room when we arrived (so they were aware of the problem and booked the room anyway), the stairwell to our first floor room smelled like urine, no refrigerator in the room. Full description; The location is wonderful; that is the end of the good news. The room we were given was *nothing* like the photos. It was small and cramped with only a tiny window that barely opened. The ceiling was so low in the entry that I had to duck every time. The air conditioner/thermostat didn't work. The two convenience store floor fans in the room when we arrived should have been a red flag. It was so hot (in October!) that neither of us could not sleep at all. In the morning the shower was only lukewarm at the hottest setting before going fully cold after 2 minutes. I tried again multiple times for more than 20 minutes with no change. I have literally never had a worse night in a hotel anywhere in Europe.

Staff was very kind, helpful, and had great tips of where to eat. Room was basic but got the job done. Decor and vibe of the hotel was very cool. Rooftop patio was very nice but very over priced.

It's a qwerky hotel with a school theme. Desks, metal lockers, calculator style lift controls are just some of the installations . The beds are comfy air con great, clean rooms, outdoor area to eat and meet with a bar. I is also well situated for Lyons attractions and restaurants. I recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Lyon.

A great, quirky place to stay in the centre of Lyon. Perfect location to explore the old town, eat in the various Bouchon Lyonnais, ride the funicular to the top of the town and venture across the bridge to the newer area. The hotel was very comfortable and had a beautiful roof terrace and handy underground car park. Highly recommended.

The worst experience in my stay at a hotel ever. I found out that the air-conditioner in my room stopped working at 5 pm. We informed the staff at the reception desk at 6 pm hoping that they will fix it when we came back from dinner but it wasn’t fix and the staff couldn’t do anything except offer us a couple of electric fans and suggested that we open the window. But my room was on the first floor next to a very noisy street so it’s not possible to open the window. I asked for a new room but the staff claimed that they were fully booked which I didn’t believe was the truth as when I went down to complain about the air-conditioner failure they just gave a room to a walk-in customer. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS HOTEL.

I can just speak for the terrace bar, not the rooms: It's incredible how relaxing and peaceful this place is while being so close from the (probably?) busiest, most touristy streets. The cocktails are great and the staff super nice!

We stayed for 2 nights, the first night we asked to change the room because the drain of the shower was totally clogged. The second one was smaller but had a nice view to the terrace. The staff of the hotel are very young that unfortunately were very inexperience, no problem with that, it would be nice to have someone with experience that could guide them. We were also disappointed that we were charged for a 1 year old baby’s breakfast.

Great location. Basic but cool rooms. Young and nice. Expect the cleaner to ignore the “ do not disturb” sign tho.

Great location, nice building with original decor. On the other hand, the price doesn't reflect the quality of the amenities. The wifi was always on and off in our room, very low quality of connection. The room was small, but clean. The breakfast is at the exorbitant price of 19,5 euros per person, with a very small variety, im already paying 120 for the room, I mean it would be ok up to 10€, vut 19,5?! You can find excellent brunch elsewhere for the same money.

Loved our 2 night stay here. Very funky little hotel. Room was pretty basic but a good size, modern, very clean, great shower and comfortable bed. A great location. Very friendly staff. Nice terrace with small bar. Would absolutely stay here again.

Great location and service. Room was small and basic. No bar fridge. Breakfast was included- it was basic - only apples all week, no other fruit! They organized a car to pick us up which was nice, but the driver insisted we pay more than the hotel quoted.

Our stay at the College Hotel was very disappointing. The theme of the decor was a college/school but it was very clinical and depressing, some of it bordering on creepy. We had a balcony and a lovely view, the room was small but the bath and the bathroom were great. The staff were friendly, breakfast was only ok. The location of the hotel was in the old town and that was a plus. Overall we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend, it's rated as a 4 star hotel but it's more like a 3 star.

Great location very close to the town centre and lots of restaurants and bars. We loved the school theme of the hotel and the roof terrace is great. The room is quite basic but it works with the theme. The car park (which you should book in advance) has a lift which is an interesting experience but takes some manoeuvring in a big car.

Rooms are pretty small, staff are nice and location is great. But it is not a 4 star hotel, more like a really nice hostel.

Pleasant place and clean. The private garage is not for big cars. The passenger elevator was out of order for 2 days.

My daughter found this one. Good for me. Lyon is super impressive. College Hotel is very well located in Centro historico. The staff were helpful. The WiFi was weak by today's standards. Room clean and comfy.

Lovely hotel with a quaint College theme, very warm and friendly. Fantastic location. Arrived without baggage, staff immediately offered essential toiletries. Nice size room with view to spectacular Notre Dame Lyon Cathedral

One of our favorite places to stay across our entire honeymoon trip. We absolutely loved this hotel for a number of reasons including: perfect location, unique and thoughtful decoration/theme, lightning fast service, large bathroom with tub, incredible view, and attachment to one of the best bars in the world, baragones. For the price, you absolutely cannot beat this hotel. When we come to Lyon, this is the only place we’ll stay! Also, the Air conditioning works incredibly well, which is a rare find in Europe!
