I don't know if it was just me but I had this server who was very kind ( ok others there where very sweet too), it just showed. Sometimes, we the clients need to feel comfortable with the people we are talking to. That's exactly what I had gotten. So I greatly appreciate staff there. Ya'll are wonderful 👑. Ps the food is ok, like it's not bad but it lacks a little more flavour. But still, it is good though🤍❤

Hippopotamus is located on a terrace area with a mall. We enjoyed ourselves very much. The restaurant bills itself as a steakhouse, and I ordered a tender one blue. It was chewier than I expected, and it came rare, not blue. W e did have a great time.

It was good but my last experience some time ago was better. Location on the top floor of the mall is great

Very nice restaurant, with a pleasant terrace in summer. I come here several times a month usually after a workout in the gym next door for lunch and never had big dissapointment. On the negative side though, they tend to overcook the meat, like 50/50. If you ask 'a point' there is a big chance you will get your meat 'bien cuit'. That is fine for me as well, so I usually don't protest, but that can be a factor for others. Price-wise it's correct. You can have full meal for 30 euros, but there are more expensive items on the menu as well.

Beautiful meal, Beautiful view on the terrace. Only complaint was the smokers all around who had no consideration for others. If you allow smoking, you should have a separate area for non smokers.

My Boyfriend and I wanted steak, found this place online and was only 10 minute walk from the hotel. Even though it was busy we got a table really quick, staff were attentive and friendly and they even had an English menu which was great. Ordered drinks they came really quickly then proceeded to order a starter to share and a sirloin steak each with pepper sauce and fries which was amazing. When we come back to Lyon we will definitely be back to Hippopotamus.

Been to a few of this chain of restaurants when traveling around France with the kids. This one was awful compared to the others. Tough, badly cooked meat. Indifferent service. I'd avoid this one.

Food was delicious and very well served, service was great. This place missed 2 extra stars due to the female manager that welcomed us, she’s called seronie. She was very rude, staring at us and everyone on the other tables like we were eating her own food, she was so mean when asked a question. Terrible manager for such a good rated place!

Had a great early dinner after traveling all day. Authur was great and was very attentive. Made sure we got our burgers cooked exactly how we wanted. Eat here, you will not be dissapointed.

Excellent food and service. The beef and chicken has a very good flavor and has an excellent presentation. Local beer is also recommended to try.

Very bad eat ,to much oil in the puree that's was make vomit, after in the salat also i was asking for vinaigrette to put in the salat and he comes with full of oil, i was want to vomit even it's was not go to eat blah,after all this experience pasted they take a lot of time to come.. incredible

It has a nice terrace with great view s of the Lyon hills. The Chateaubriand was small but perfect. The fish and chips were delicious as was the 1664 French lager. This is located in the Confluence shopping center, level 3 (2 for North American s.)

Stop in for a quick dinner before my travels home. I was sat at a table with no problem and was even offered an English menu. The restaurant is located at a beautiful mall on the third story near the cinema. Only issue was the first two dishes ordered the kitchen did not have. I settled on the Hippopotamus Hamburger and a Classic Coke. The meal was superb. The waitstaff was helpful and even helped with my french pronunciation of some word. Had an excellent experience and would recommended if you are in the area.

I got two snails in the salade!! And I ate one without paying attention!! This can be so dangerous, please be more careful with the salade hygiene! Otherwise, the meat was good.

I would like to thank Patricia, she was extremely kind and patient. I don't speak French and she was very polite and kind helping me to understand the menu and recommended really nice food. I'm very grateful for this amazing employee who made my night so special. I'm definitely comming back there just because of her amazing hospitality.
