This is the only remaining part of the former Hôspital de la Charité of Lyon. It was built in 1666 as a replacement of an older clock tower. Beautifully presented in Place Antonin-Poncet and opposite the famous Place Bellecour. The history of the former charity hospital adds to the fascinating presence of this Clocktower making it even more visually fascinating. A great place to ponder and explore for all ages.

The Bell Tower itself is a splendid piece of Lyon's heritage. Its intricate design and imposing presence make it a remarkable landmark in the city. The surrounding area is equally charming. Quaint streets, historic buildings, and cozy cafes create an ambiance that transports you to another time. Walking through these streets is like stepping into a living museum, where each corner reveals a new layer of Lyon's rich past. One of the highlights of the visit is undoubtedly the courtyard of the Charity Hospital itself. The architecture, greenery, and sense of tranquility make it a perfect spot to pause and reflect.

(Translated by Google) Nice bell tower, a gentleman told me that there is a technical room at the top of the tower with antennas and devices, apparently the tower cannot be visited, there is a very nice ultra modern elevator inside the tower.

(Translated by Google) Alain Madonna, "one of the oldest monuments in Lyon" yes, but from the modern era! ... All that remains, yes, of the Charité hospital, destroyed in 1934 by Édouard Herriot, it is one of the two hospitals in Lyon with the Hôtel-Dieu at the origin of the creation of the Hospices Civilians of Lyon, in 1802, when he was at odds with the other (hence the expression "It's the Hospital that makes fun of Charity"), the Lyon institutions no longer wanting to see them argue , they forced them to get together !!! ... For memory" ! ...

Beautiful clock tower in Bellecour place. It’s a remaining piece if the Charity Hospital in Lyon. It’s clock is still running, that’s not the case in a lot of other places

It's a small tower that looks very plain. I don't see anything special about it.
