Perfect place if you want to taste the very best of Lyon local cuisine. Staff is kind, speaks English. Onion soup is fantastic, but the must is definitely the quenelle. The one with chicken with forest sauce is just delicious! They serve nice wine too.

You can find traditional Lyon dishes in this restaurant. It is hard to say i loved them all but they were good. Do hesitate to try this restaurant and different dishes here.

Travels can fine traditional French food here. I tried a traditional French dish at this restaurant: 🦀️Fish pick quenelle Soufflé and Nantua Sauce Nantua sauce is a classic French sauce, similar to how coconut milk sauce is a typical classic condiment in Singapore and Malaysia, available in bottled versions at supermarkets. Nantua sauce contains milk, butter, and seafood flavors, such as crayfish. When poured over fish ball-shaped soufflés, it creates a rich seafood flavor. Just as Singaporean foodies dip golden mantou into crab sauce and Indians use roti or prata to soak up curry, this fish ball soufflé can also be enjoyed with bread dipped in Nantua sauce. The bread serves to balance the saltiness of the sauce, making it a very approachable local classic for newcomers. 🥩Beef Patty Burger You can choose the level of doneness for the beef patty. My companion went for medium-rare, and it looked like he was eating raw meat. French-style burgers, indeed, are tastier than McDonald's. The bread has more aroma and tenderness, and the beef patty is carefully seasoned. The fact that they offer beef patties cooked medium-rare indicates their confidence in the quality of their beef. Based on my experience with two local restaurants so far, it seems that slow service might be a local custom. For diners accustomed to the fast pace of city life, I recommend arriving and placing your order before noon, as wait times tend to be longer when local diners join the crowd later. This restaurant also does not charge consumption tax or service fees, and tap water is complimentary. For carnivores, you can skip appetizers and desserts and simply focus on more meat or fish from the main course. Non pork eater must pay attention! Unlike meat by default is beef in Turkey, the sausage by default here is pork sausage. So diners must place an order carefully when trying sausage!! Overall, it's a good-value restaurant, and tourists visiting St. John's Cathedral can consider having lunch here."

We decided to share a starter and main course, having had a substantial lunch elsewhere. We had the Salade Lyonnaise and the fish Quenelle, accompanied by a glass of vin blanc. The portions are generous and despite only ordering 2 dishes between us, we let full. Both the Salade and the quenelle were delicious and I would highly recommend Restaurant Cafe du Soliel.

We were looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch that would also represent local specialties from Lyon. And I'm happy to say that Café du Soleil was the perfect place for that! Both my andouillette and my wife's fish quenelle were delicious and represented very traditional French and Lyon dishes. The service was nice and lucky for us we got good service in English. There was a queue in front of the place all the time and we had to wait for a table for some twenty minutes but it was worth it. 👍

Great local food experience, the food was delicious and the portions were more than generous! Would’ve loved more rice with my quenelle so I could enjoy that delicious sauce longer… too bad we were too full to order a dessert:)

The food was great. We choose the standard menu with Lyonnaise salad, poultry soufflé and ice cream with toast. The “pression beer” was fantastic. The salad and dessert were great as well. The poultry soufflé was something new for us but we liked it. The service however was a bit slow, but it’s understandable because the place was full(as it usually is). We recommend this place if you are not in a rush.

I highly recommend this restaurant! Lyon salad and home smoked salmon salad are must try if you love bacon and smoked salmon for your starters. The burgers are so tasty with soft and crusty bun. The beef is cooked to perfection. I love that they serve it with lots of green salad and we’ll seasoned small new potatoes. I tried scallop mousse with lobster sauce. It was so smooth and fluffy. Loved it! Tartar, steak and sausage dishes were all so good. We happened to walk passed it and booked a table. Unfortunately the tables outside were all booked, but we were happy to sit inside. It was such a nice Saturday evening with the windows wide open next to our table. We can watch people walking past and dining outside. The toilet is tiny, but the toilet seat rotate to clean itself. Very hygienic. The sink could have been cleaner, but over all, it’s not bad. The decor of the restaurant is welcoming. I love to go back again if we visit Lyon again.

Authentic Lyonnaise cuisine prepared with original recipe from 18th century, this place is an eclectic and quintessential stop to experience Lyon hospitality and flavours. Highly recommend Quenelles aux poulet which is simply delicious. Served piping hot it goes well with champagne or white wine, though I insisted on Beaugolai wine for every meal, served by the most attentive and cordial waiters!

Found a homemade french food restaurant. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Set Menu $28 of $38 - Onion soup, souffle scallop/Chicken or my favorite triple cook with white wine. Don't need another pretentious fine dinning restaurant cos nobody was drinking any wine in the whole restaurant. :)

Cafe du Soleil was recommended to us by locals and was very much worth the visit. Smaller restaurant on a fun cobblestone street corner serving up classic French dishes. The food was delicious and I would definitely recommend if you are in Lyon.

Iconic In the heart of Vieux Lyon, Soleil delivers classic Lyonnaise cuisine at an amazing price. €25 3 course menu is incredible. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Favorites: Oeufs En Meurette Quenelle Andouillette à la Moutarde Tarte au Praline

It’s recommended by my local Airbnb host. They have very authentic local Lyon cuisine. Although the dishes are not my personal favorite, it’s nice to try as a tourist.

Bottom Line: Quaint small restaurant. Friendly Staff. VERY busy. Food was good as we ventured into Lyoner cuisine. I picked this place as it had a brief segment in one of Rick Steve's Best of Europe Videos. I ordered items that I was not familiar with and so have limited experience to judge on. A lot of locals there, usually a good sign, and not a spare table in the place. We were very lucky to get a reservation. No English menu, so bring Google translate with you. There was at least one staff member with good English ability. As for our meals... we were generally happy with them. As ibsaid, I deliberately ordered items I had not tasted before or with limited experience. That can be a challenge right there! We found everything delightful. Especially the tart that is pink/rose in color. Very jam packed inside. I say that because while they are dog friendly, our dog is small. Medium dogs would be a challenge and large dogs only on a night when not busy!
