Looking for a great experience? Look somewhere else. Close proximity to the airport made this an ideal choice but I didn’t know what I was getting into. The management is aware but shameless about their business at this property. Basic needs like confirmed reservation is NOT GUARANTEED. Forget about staying a night at one of their rooms. They’ll gladly offer you the lobby for whatever money you’ve spent. I had booked an Executive King room to spent the night before my international flight the next morning. When I arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff asked me if I needed a taxi for Rs. 1200 after checking me in and before asking me to wait in the lobby because the room isn’t ready yet. I waited in the lobby, for 3 hours before I decided to leave and just spend my night at the airport. The staff, including the management had no answer as to why my room wasn’t ready six hours after my check-in time. Later I figured it wasn’t the issue with just my reservation, there were plenty of unhappy guests for the same reason. They oversold and they didn’t have enough rooms. They were making unnecessary excuses and making the guests wait. Would never go back if I get a chance and would not recommend this property to anybody I know in Chennai. If you want to deal with a conning and deceiving management, this is your to-go place. Marriott could do so much better.

This is one of the oldest 5 star in Chennai. In its heydays it was the place to go. Now it's a shell of its former glory. Pro - Excellent location ( near to the airport and City centre), attentive and warm staff, dated but well maintained rooms Cons - swimming pool was under renovation which was not intimated to us, even though the breakfast spread was huge it was nearly the same on both days of our stay, no recreational or games room on the property.

Pathetic experience at what was once known as a gem in Chennai. We had 4 rooms booked and arrived at 11:00 pm for check in post a long long day of business meetings. To our astonishment, no rooms were ready. We were made to wait half hour to get the rooms at 11pm and even then the rooms were not clean, not vacuumed, sheets not changed, towels not picked up. This is a totally unacceptable behaviour from a reputable brand once known for its hospitality. The front office person had to cut a sorry face and the duty manager had no clue how to handle the situation. This, unfortunately was not only with us but with a few more guests who were waiting to check in. Never again!.

Lot of things to be improved. Staffs at the reception having all the attitude. Especially Mr.Kim he will treat the guests like they are paying free of cost. Services at restaurant was very good. Food also was yummy. They will try you with rooms with noises from AC, if you complain the same they won't accept the mistake also. After the argument , they will be ready to change the room. You have to carry all your luggage's from there to wherever they providing you. Don't except the services like a Marriott property.

We booked for twin room. They provided us king size. We asked them to change to twin room. They again put us in another king size. Frustrated we just decided to live with it. Also the service was bad.. for all request we had to call them back after 1 hr and request again. During checkout I informed the reception about this. They sang the chorus sorry it won't happen again.. never again will I stay here until they improve their value for customer

Warm hospitality and great taste foods. Staffs are very friendly and flexible for any arrangements. Executive lounge is convenient and gorgeous atmosphere. Garden is also good for roaming, although pool was under maintenance. The seafood restaurant Kayal seems to be temporarily closed, and facilities looked a bit aged but overall, very comfortable stay. Checkout message “when do do you come back?” was truly heartwarming. Thanks!

This is one of the oldest hotels with star rating in the city. It is good and well maintained. However their parking could have been better. It's close to 6 feet tall and if you're taller than that you might find it hard walking through it. It's also dark and doesn't feel safe. The service, food was good. Rest were all good.

Stay was average. The room was big and bed was good. Other than that nothing was impressive. The room was not clean. The bathroom sink was not draining properly. The walls were dirty and there was water seepage. No hot water in the bathroom or shower. The in room dining staff don’t allow food from outside and ask money for providing plates. For plates they charge 2000rs cover charge which is just ridiculous. It is a very archaic rule and hotel should change with the times. There are a lot of great food options outside and the hotel should not restrict people from this. Hotel is like a maze, it takes 5-10 mins to reach the lobby and lift as no clear instructions are given anywhere on how to get there. Overall wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here unless you really need to.

We have taken a suite ans another room and here is what we were welcomed with 1. The intercom in the suite didn't work 2..no safes were provided 3. There was exactly one face tissue in the box in the bathroom 4. When I called the service desk to ask them to fix the intercom the lady said I had to call the duty manager and she wouldn't call him 5. The key cards don't work !! Expected much better from a hotel like Le Meredian ! We are still here. Let's see if someone addresses our issues

This is one of the oldest star hotel which is losing its beauty due to ageing. Basics are there, but for competing with new age star hotels that's not enough. The food tasted good. Parking lot will show how old this hotel is. Overall needs attention. The location is iconic that's the strength this hotel is standing strong. I would say if you strike a good deal then definitely yes

Rooms are great. However, service is poor. AC temperature was constant even if we tried changing it. This was not addressed by the hotel staff Kettle was not working. After 3 calls, some one came to the room and fixed it. Lift is inactive sometimes. Lift does not go to -1 to parking. We have to walk all the way to the car instead of taking the lift directly.

The room is clean and cozy. The hotel is bit noisy during check in and check out times. The breakfast buffet had good spread having Indian & continental cuisine. The Navaratna restaurant serves for Indian cuisine. It's better to clearly inform your taste preferences at the time of ordering so that the Chef can make accordingly. The hotel serves " Alkaline Water" . It's bit different than the regular Mineral water served elsewhere.

I stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed. The shampoo and conditioner were not refilled, which is a basic amenity that I expect from a hotel of this price. The hotel was also very dull and outdated. The furniture was old and the walls were bare. I felt like I was staying in a motel, not a 5-star hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are much better hotels in this price range that offer a better experience. Overall, I was very disappointed with this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. Pros: Location was convenient Staff was friendly Cons: Shampoo and conditioner were not refilled Hotel was very dull and outdated Not worth the price Overall: I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are much better hotels in this price range that offer a better experience.

I didn't particularly enjoy my stay there. I found bugs in the bed and the pillow covers were not clean. The restroom was also unclean, with mold visible in various places. I would not recommend this hotel for a longer stay. Before checking out, I even complained to the receptionist, but he seemed unconcerned and simply wanted me to leave. The food (buffet) was enjoyable, and the staff were friendly. However, I would not rate this hotel higher than 3 points.

Close to airport. May be just 3 or 4 station. Can catch a metro to and from Airport terminal. Breakfast was lavish and unforgettable. Food was very nice. I am bit disappointed that room had no display for calling housekeeping or room service. Bathroom fittings need upgrading or good maintenance.

There's something about this place that makes your stay somewhat uncomfortable, which i can't put a finger on. It's it the hard check in process, is it the tight upper lipped guest services reps, non working wifi, cozy looking but not the best sleep ever you get here, or is it the way they haggle you to make you pay for something they say over the phone and something else st checkout time. Not the best of hotels i've stayed at before.

Very good business hotel with excellent staff and amazing service. Staff in the lounge, Restaurant, Security and reception were exceptional and helped my father all the way. The food at the restaurant is very good as well. The 2 challenges were that the room's A/C was not as effective. Set it at 20 degrees but felt like 24 in the room. The second problem was, with all the traffic changes getting in and out has become a bit painful. Overall a very good experience except minor annoyances.

Stayed for a day and night but this was the worst experience i have had with a five star hotel. The property and it's infrastructure fits it's ratings but the service didn't quite fit the mark. Water ran out for at least 3 hours and the management says maintenance is going on. I mean nobody expects such an inconvenience from a five star hotel. Had to call the reception numerous times to get a simple thing. Lights were not working properly and there were no snacks in the mini fridge. Just a few meters away there's Trident hotel which indeed provides a five star service. The only thing good about Meridien is that they had delicious food.

I would like to call this destination as perfect comfort station. The stay here was really awesome and the services provided was amazing. Staffs here are really professional and they offer outstanding service. The complementary breakfast provided here was delicious and this is one among my favorite goto place in the city. Room service is also amazing. The premises is well maintained and valet parking service is also available. We visited this place for our family visit and we are very much happy with their service. I'll prefer this destination for my future stays as well!

A wonderful place to stay. An Iconic landmark of Guindy since 2000 but now the hotel really need some maintenance to keep up with their good old standards. 》Breakfast is excellent. 》Staffs are polite & friendly. 》Swimming pool is closed due to COVID restrictions. 》Convenient for travellers to access Airport and Metro station. ~ It's a 5 star hotel worth 4 star rating in G Maps. This hotel is just a few improvements away from 5 star rating! Overall a very nice place to stay.

Had a visit at meridien resturant for buffet. Had a terrible experience, only the foods where hot., Other than that its simply waste. We gone there as three peoples. Poor hospitality, many pigeons died on the grounds not cleared though. If you want have a good food ,i wont recommend here. Totally 4500 was charge for my buffet of three members. And varities were also low.

My room when I checked in was filthy- dirty carpet, sink and toilet. I was surprised to see such a dirty room. They did manage to change me in to another room subsequently. The room should have been checked first prior to approval for Occupancy. I expected a better room for a 5 star hotel. The housekeeping does a so-so job. No attention to details. This Changing of room put a dent in my plan as I came back late tired. The staff however is very friendly and courteous. The Cilantro Cafe is outstanding. Excellent buffet breakfast. There is no place to walk around the hotel.

Ok. Where do I start! 1st the rooms in general they're old, although they have a few rooms renovated. 2nd the pool is closed, I understand that's because of the Covid, but in Delhi they're Covid too and the Novotel pool is opened. 3rd the buffet it will be great if they have more Occidental food, because not everybody will like spicy food or indian food. Overall they should review the number of stars they have. The staff were really nice.

I never stayed here, we had a team lunch here. Also today went there with my family for brand outlet discount sale. Unfortunately we didn't get much options, finally we had a quick bit and left the place. We bought french fries for our kid, and it was good. The ambience is very good, but the parking area is very bad, no lights in the parking area even in the under ground parking place.

It was a very pleasant stay in the hotel. All staff were extremely polite and welcomed with folded hands. After my quick check in, I was immediately approached politely by a staff Priyanka to show the way to room allocated, which sometimes become difficult to reach if you are new to that hotel. I was escorted to room and all available facilities were explained by the escorting staff. Room was large, clean and well decorated. I would again visit this hotel as the location too was good. The great standard exhibited need to be maintained for long.

I’ve stayed here for 3 days and the room service was absolutely worst. The hotel is quiet and pretty old but really good to sleep in ,comfy beds and the furniture is a bit old but everything else is alright . The pool and jacuzzi weren’t working at the time , gym was fine and the breakfast was good. Overall a good place to stay for a short term business trip.

Old World Hotel with a Charm from the past. Very well designed. Room are a bit loomy. My room had a leakage from Air-conditioner at night so had to change the room at night post settling. That was a bit troubling. But hotel staff did the shifting very efficiently and quickly. Food is good. Grand Entrance gives you a feel of Grandeur while entering the Lobby. Near to the airport. Reaching takes only 15 minutes. City is far though. It will take around 35 to 40 minutes to reach city center.

I recently stayed at the Le Royal Meridien in Chennai and overall had an okay experience. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive and the rooms were generally clean and comfortable. The breakfast spread was decent, with a good selection of both Indian and Western dishes. However, I found the amenities quite basic and the views from the room weren't as spectacular as I had anticipated. All in all, it was an adequate experience, but nothing to write home about.

I am making a review of the restaurant only. Service staff should be sent to school to learn a little English... it makes it really hard to order and to communicate. And of course then you get something else than you ordered in the end.. it happens. Also, even though menu has a variety of dishes and drinks - some of them are not available. So someone is not doing their job (inventory). This hotel should live up to it's name, because there's a reason people go to dine there. Overall atmosphere was pleasant, soft music in the background. Orderly. Some chairs could use upgrade. But that's not important. Food was rather mediocre.

Meridian is one of the iconic landmarks in Chennai. Located near the Kathipara bridge, we can even say it's on the heart of Chennai. Got an opportunity to stay here recently for an international conference. Here's my assessment - Rooms - 3/5. Okay'ish - bathrooms need a massive maintenance. Food - 5/5. Excellent. The morning buffet breakfast is a delight. COVID precautions - 5/5. Absolutely. No pool. No lawn. No AC in the lobby. Staff service - 4/5. Good. Need to resolve queries instantly to reach the benchmark. Gym - 5/5. Full facilities including Yoga mats. Hotel ambience - 3/5. Totally missed the vibes because of the COVID restrictions. Overall - 4/5. Meridian is a meridian - always! The popularity and brand value is truly global.

Excellent food and outstanding service but the hotel requires a refurbishment. This hotel is very old and there are obvious signs of damage and age in the room. Lots of work is required to develop this hotel into a true 5 star hotel. However, the food at this place is simply amazing and delicious. The rooms are kept extremely clean and I would like to say a special thanks to Rajasekar from the Room cleaning team for his magnificent work and his fine eye for detail. The cleanliness of the room masked for every detail of damage and age. Thanks a lot to Rajasekar for making our stay comfortable and welcoming.

Firstly it's an old place so it's not your modern spanking hotel but it's a one that I grew up seeing and is still desirable...super location, great service and the people make up for what you may think is old. Shashank, thanks for your hospitality and courtesy mate! Appreciate it. Food is really good and was quick. Being a platinum member I did enjoy this place better than courtyard in chennai.....bigger spread too on the buffet! Very close to the airport as well. Hope to see you all soon.

This place was disgusting. When I got the room and asked for a second key, they responded with "we are out of key cards". Then, I went in the room and it reeked of cigarettes. I asked them multiple times to come clean the room so it didn't smell of smoke, but both times after they "cleaned" it, the smell would go away for an hour and come back. At 4 AM, we had to go downstairs and yell at them to get us a new room. We are now feeling sick from being in the room. Staff was unprofessional in handling this issue. When I pay for a luxury hotel, I expect excellent service, but today I felt like sleeping on the streets would've been better.

Had horrible experience for a day stay on 4,Dec,2023 during cyclone/ heavy rains conditions. Add the following: 1. Rent for a normal ( min)deluxe room was almost double EXPLOITING the troubled situation. When asked " Is it fair?"-he answered " Rent changes every day" 2. TV in the room was not working- when asked " services"reply came- " it will not work ,sir". 3. Small hand- towels were not even provided . 4.Room slippers are not kept- is it 5 star or 2 star??- and when asked, she replied same will be sent, but it NEVER came. 5.Bed linen was so bad. 6. Reception counter guy was expressionless when I told these. Request Management to look into above, if the property is to sustain in business.

I had a not so good experience. To start with, the TV was not working, there was no restaurant Menu in the room and no ash tray in a smoking room. Had to ask for everything including glasses. The response was quick so could manage. The room was neat, but smaller and looked old when compared to other 5stars roughly a 1000 rs more expensive. Can order from Swiggy and easy to collect from main gate since the campus is small. But they charge 150rs for two plates and 4 spoons.😡

It has an old world charm to it. Restaurant staff very professional and courteous. Front desk some staff very efficient some need to be sharp to follow up on guests requests. I am at present in this hotel. Please stay here only if you have work towards airport . No cabs / autos come here for other places because of its location- the long detour involved for the U turn!! I used to visit this hotel for dining before (10 yrs ago). Used to really like this place. But now, I think made a mistake in booking rooms here. No upkeep and maintenance. Literally like they don't want to maintain. Staff are friendly and polite ( but we don't check in to a hotel because staff are friendly) .Last night dinner was just horrible.Am waiting to see how breakfast will be. NO HINDI CHANNELS .

It's a great hotel BUT..... The rooms were quite gross and unclean. There's a colony of millipedes in the rooms' balconies and no one cares. It's like an abandoned building with no maintenance. Also, we were charged extra for the fifth person in our group upon arrival, but this was never showed in our bill total even though we had clearly entered the number of guests while booking. Swimming pool area was also not clean, probably because of covid- but it reflects very poorly on the overall image of the hotel. Staff is friendly but the service, clarity of payment and cleanliness is utterly horrible. Breakfast was awesome, 10/10 for that. But they need to up their maintenance game big time if they wish to keep up with the standards.

The banquet hall and lobby were quite good, though not commensurate with the high expectation one might have from 5 star hotels. Food was good too.. But the lack of valet parking coupled with the extremely low-roofed basement parking is pretty disappointing.. Time they did some serious renovation..

My brief (6 hour) stay was organized by a cancelled flight & I really can't review much of my stay. Having said that the rooms looked elegant. Had a posh feel to it. Though the corridors are poorly lit. We were provided lunch by the hotel, which was something that could have been done better. Buffet with limited items, let's say that's expected & all good. But where were we to sit? let alone set our plate down? All of us ate standing, with some of us finding some tables stacked along the wall to set our plates. C'mon meridian.... You can do better.

Had a sumptuous lunch for celebrating an occasion. Taste was decent and varieties served is high. Non Veg menu is more richer than Vegetarian menu. Live counter had great dishes to serve and desserts was simply amazing. Some foods are far different from what we get outside, even Pav bhaji is different from other places.

Thanks!

I TOTALLY Agree with few review comments stating OLDEST hotel in the city. Thus the guests are also facing worst problems and crying for basic needs. As the hotel was put on sale, the staff morale was very low. We can see the impact right from Front desk till kitchen. Pathetic cleaning, cockroaches at third floor rooms shows how long the rooms are locked. I stay for 3 nights , all three nights I did not sleep for more than 3 hours as small cockraches are rolling on my kid. It was an horrible experience. Suggest people to avoid.

The property is a bit old. The rooms are quiet comfortable, and the distance to the airport is also very convenient. The reception desk staff is polite and friendly. At the same time I think they are understaffed as no one helped us with the luggage to our rooms.

Everything was perfect about this hotel except for the toilets. They are very old fashioned with vintage commode, not of 5 star stuff. Service was excellent and breakfast at Cilantro was mind blowing with a very wide spread. Really topnotch. Loved the stay except for the toilet part.

The reception was ok, they didn’t take much of time to check me in. The rooms are very good, seems to be old but they maintained it well. I fitness center with gym and sauna was good. The ultimate thing is the breakfast, I really liked it. If I am going to choose the hotel again, it will be for the breakfast…

This place has seen better days. Rooms are spacious and comfortable but the wear and tear shows. Pretty good spread for the breakfast but it looked understaffed. Saw a number of tables that were unoccupied as they weren't cleared yet. But a decent business hotel for a night stay.

Room was old but the maintenance was good. Services are excellent especially the ground floor restaurant. I needed to change the room due to the cleaning was not properly done in the bathroom. The floor in the room had some trash from the previous guests when I first enter there. Anyway, the restaurant was the help for this rating. Good breakfast and also excellent dinner.

Old style opulence. Plenty of great toiletries but some repairs/cleaning needed in the bathroom. Delicious south Indian breakfast items, a huge spread and variety of non-veg dishes, but their brioche and cinnamon Danish were dry and tasteless. Overall excellent hospitality. They let us stay almost 2 hours beyond the check out time.

Good hospitality. Fantastic architect but needs refreshing and maintenance to be done. We are served Alkaline water instead of regalar mineral water. Lot of repairs and proper housekeeping needed in toiletries. Satisfied lunch here. Had to wait for some long time to our orders, even the restaurant was not fully occupied. We hope the property will resume its glory and fame soon.

The lobby area was huge and the architect was fantastic. Had visited Cilantro(dining area) for dinner buffet. The hospitality was very good. All the starters were served on the table. Both veg and non-veg items are available in a vast variety. Soups were okayish in my opinion. Starters-10/10 MAIN COURSE- 9/10 Desserts- 10/10 If you want to have a good dinner buffet with your family/friends/loved ones you can definitely go here! Valet parking available. All the staffs and receptionists were courteous. COVID protocols were followed. Overall an amazing experience!

Checked in into the hotel this evening and I was really impressed with the room my client has booked for me. Everything was great from check-in until the bellboy escorted me to the room. My room plan includes breakfast and one meal. I was offered a voucher by the receptionist and I intended to use it for dinner. Little did I know that the dinner experience would be so terrible. Asked for the salad spread and was shocked to see just some boiled corn in a bowl, few pieces of grilled chicken in another (maybe its there to make your own). There was a scary Caesar salad (image attached) along with some spicy corn salad and lentil salad with bell peppers. The worst thing to witness was a dried up fish salad kept at room temperature and not on a bed of ice which is dangerous. Helped myself with a serving of corn salad which was overly spicy and the lentil salad. Later to satisfy my hunger I headed to the main course counter and helped myself with Thai Curry and steamed rice along with chicken biryani. The Thai Curry was pounded with pepper... enough to make me sweat throughout the meal!!

Well, decent hotel as in value for money but didn't feel the Marriott Bonvoy experience. Property is old but we'll maintained.

Really enjoyed lunch here today. In dome bar Cocktails were absolutely perfect- not too sweet or sour - perfect balance of all ingredients. Food was extraordinary. My wife says her sea bass was the best she’s had in the 3.5 years we’ve been in Chennai. Prices seem reasonable, but we really enjoyed the quality. We’ll be back!

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything about our stay was fantastic. The staff are all excellent, kind and very welcoming; they really do so much to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel itself is in a nice location away from the hustle and bustle of Chennai which is nice. It is stunningly beautiful inside and our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Thankச to shilpa for making our stay comfortable
