Cannot say how great my experience here was. At first, I did not want to wait to be seat as I was very hungry, but very glad I did! Trey was our server and he was absolutely amazing! We were on vacation and he told us all about all the cool, hidden gems of the city. He made sure we were well taken care of. Trey definitely deserves credit for great customer service! Vegan food was amazing!! Hands down, one of the most flavorful vegan breakfasts I've ever had! I definitely want to visit again!

Love love the food. Very busy place. And not a large space. You may have to wait an hour or more, depending on what time you arrive. No place to sit and wait. You’ll have to go back to your car and they will send you a text. Went on Saturday morning told my wait will be 60-90 minutes but then was called after 15 minutes. So make sure your whole party is there. Front door really hard/heavy to open. Had a great family brunch with mimosas too. Would definitely go back a little more prepared about wait and parking. There is a lot on the corner of Jena and feret (I may have spelled that wrong)as well as street parking.

Great food with delicious vegan options. Delicious coffee. Good kind service. I got the cat head biscuit but subbed the crawfish sauce for mushroom gravy. The biscuit was delicate and buttery. The gravy had great flavor and the chicken was fried perfectly, also huge. My cousin (who’s vegan) loved the vegan biscuits with mushroom gravy. THE POTATOES...GET THEM!!!!! Would def recommend and go back next time I’m visiting.

Went in for lunch and ended up getting brunch. Everything was amazing. Our waitress, Kathleen was absolutely exceptional, along with the Liz. The vegan l, blueberry pancake and butter was to almost die for. The black bean burger was mouth watering, literally. The shrimp cat' (don't know the full word) was also good according to my friend. The fries are broiled and then double fried but extremely salty. It's not an option to order with no seasoning. Next time I will order the side salad. I wish they would add yellow mustard to the menu. All sauces are made in house except the ketchup. Anyhow, I'm food and just wanted to recommend this place, no disappointments given.

LOVED this place! Came here while visiting New Orleans with my sister who is vegan. I’m not vegan but really enjoy vegan food. This restaurant had something for everyone - omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, even paleo. We both got vegan dishes and what we had was awesome. So flavorful, great textures, etc. Good coffee too. We came around mid morning on a Tuesday and while we didn’t have to wait there was a decent crowd, so if there’s a crowd even at off times I have to think this place must be very popular. Definitely worth a visit not only for vegans but for anyone seeking a great breakfast!

When we arrived there was a wait. The hostess offered to call the other location to see if we could get in without a wait. That was very nice. We walked around the neighborhood while we waited and the area is very cute. They have LOTS of vegan options and pretty much something for everyone. I had the mushrooms and shrimp. It could've used a little more seasoning but was good. The biscuits and mushroom gravy was really good. Shrimp and grits was delicious. The kids really enjoyed the pancakes. My son also really liked the BLT with avocado. Service was OK and it was FREEZING in the restaurant. Overall a good choice and we would go back, with a sweater.

Went for brunch around 11a on a Saturday morning….30 min wait seemed reasonable and totally worth it…All of our food was really good, the potatoes are worth getting a side order…( waiter offered a sweet chili dipping sauce to dip with) Shrimp and grits with scallops, amazing. I personally had the chorizo breakfast special, very good! Biscuits also very soft and tasty!

AMAZING experience. We accidentally spilled a drink on one of our entrees and our server was kind enough to get us a replacement. Although we didn’t ask, they brought out a fresh omelette. Food was delicious. Definitely coming back.

The best restaurant in New Orleans! Both the Shrimp & Grits and Mushrooms & Grits were delicious! I also tried the Butterfly Matcha Latte. It was really beautiful and slightly sweet. Worth trying once but not something I'd get again.

Stopped in on the Saturday of essence festival and overall my group was satisfied. When we originally got there, it was very crowded and we were told that the wait would be 1 hour and 30 minutes. The hostess added us to the wait list, took our phone number, and told us she would call when the food was ready. We decided to run an errand while we waited and only 40 minutes had passed before she was calling to tell us our table was ready. When we finally sat down, the service was pretty good to say they closing in and hour and the food was fresh. I can appreciate being able to see the cooks prepare the food. Really nice vibe and a really good spot to try if you’re vegan. I would come back when I visit Nola again. I don’t really have a complaint, but I will say I would probably not get the crab scramble again. It was not nasty, just not something I would like to have again. The trumpet scallops on the other hand ? I would definitely come back and order that. It is not pictured but my friend let me try hers and everything was seasoned very well !!!!

WOW! A bit always from the touristy locations so definitely worth the trip. I appreciate the many vegetarian options and enjoyed the biscuit with mushroom gravy. I tried the cauliflower grits but it seemed more like cauliflower rice. My husband raves about the steak and eggs. He likes it well done and for the meat to still be tender with good flavor says a lot! We split the banana foster pancakes which look unassuming but we’re delicious. They mush blend the banana into the batter. Would have liked some banana chunks in the pancakes too but that’s ok. Highly recommend!!

One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had! An amazing menu with a wide variety of classic and vegan options. I ended up getting vegan biscuits and gravy, I loved it! They also had one of the most extensive selections of fresh pressed juice I’ve ever seen at any eatery.

This is not an all vegan establishment. I swung by this location on Sunday after craving biscuits and gravy. Everything on the table is vegan aside from the latte and potentially the mimosa. Pictured is quesadilla, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and pancake. Mimosa - Your normal bubbly with fresh squeezed oj. Breakfast Potatoes - This brings the addictive crispy potatoes up to another notch. The sauce brings tartness. The pico brings freshness to cut through all the starch. And avocado to give a bit of creaminess. This was really good but I think I like the crispy potatoes as is. Blueberry pancake - This comes with vegan butter and vegan syrup. I was mind blown that I didn’t have to specify that. Much thanks to my server on that day. I’m not a huge fan of pancake to be honest, but I definitely loved this one. The batter wasn’t too dense and the blueberries makes it bright. Spread some butter on it and bathe it in syrup and it’s pancake heaven. Also if you’re anything like me, you can order one single pancake which is what I did. Biscuits and Gravy - Oh my goodness. I’ve missed biscuits so much since I’ve gone vegan. Someone on here warned me about the hefty amount of scallions that comes on it and yeah that is a lot. I scraped most of it off. Creamy sauce with the right amount of savory. Tender biscuit but not soggy. I didn’t try the quesadilla since I figured it’s the same as the breakfast burrito I had a couple of days earlier and while that was good I won’t be getting it again. This location has a larger vegan menu than the CBD location. Remember that if you come on a Sunday to be prepared to wait so don’t wait until you’re hungry to arrive or else you’ll give your lunch date hangry attitude.

Bearcat Cafe did not disappoint! The food, coffee and juices are not only FRESH but delicious. I had the Vegan Mushroom Gravy and Biscuits ( 😭 it was so good I almost cried) and the Crispy Potatoes. My husband had the Scallops with riced Cauliflower and Asparagus. The presentation is beautiful! Also the service from Trey, on point!! And the Hostess is lovely. 5☆'s all the way! Thank you for a lovely brunch!

My Queen and I are vegan/vegetarian couple and we check this place out while in the area for brunch. We both ordered off the breakfast side of the menu and the food was absolutely amazing. The menu was very diverse. We both enjoyed our dishes, good vibes, friendly staff. Definitely will be back.

I can definitely see why this place may be crowded on a regular day. Went on a Wednesday morning for brunch and as you can see it was pretty full. Their juices and coffees are freshly squeezed and brewed, respectively. Upon receiving my food I was not prepared for how delicious it was. The shrimp and grits was the best I have ever had, even though it had the tails on the shrimp, the wonderful portion of grits to shrimp and gravy made up for it. The potatoes were an amazing large portion for the price. The waitress explained they are boiled, smashed, then deep fried. They gave so much, I had left overs which I ate at work the next day. Upon heating it up, people had to ask me where did I get them from because it smelled sooooo good! I highly recommend this place. Allergy friendly. Only downside is because it is up uptown, and in a neighborhood, the parking was difficult, but not impossible.

Excellent food, service, and fun and groovy atmosphere! MANY VEGAN OPTIONS - would love to come back for these, even though I'm a meathead - but I love healthy food. I loved the cat theme of the menu!! Coffee line was frozen over but the manager was kind enough to explain the whole situation and be as accommodating as he could be. Drip coffee was very tasty! I got the cat daddy biscuit and my partner got the shrimp and grits. Both were portions that made us comfortably full, perfect! Chicken had a deep golden brown fry, gravy was rich and complex with crawfish bits peppered throughout, and the egg was a perfect sunny side up. Would only have requested a bigger biscuit because it was so good and I don't think it was able to shine as much as the other items on the dish. The same can be said for the shrimp and grits - rich flavors that blended perfectly.

I visited from Michigan and when I tell you Everything was delicious, the service was fast and the vibes were wonderful! I will definitely come back. I’m vegan and they have a nice selection on their menu. Everything taste fresh and authentic. I had the biscuits and mushroom gravy, blueberry pancake, and potatoes, Tofu scramble, and black bean breakfast sausage. If you’re in the uptown area in NOLA definitely try this place out!

Bearcat Cafe was highly recommended by a friend that lives in New Orleans, however the dish I chose was the shrimp and grits. I personally didn't care for it. It was made with the roux base that's used to make gumbo combined with a hint of sweet definitely not what i was expecting. Unfortunately, my daughter's cocktail came with a gnat floating on top, the waitress did apologize and brought her a fresh cocktail out. I would still try the restaurant again, but I would try the fried chicken I've been told it's amazing.

Some of the best food around New Orleans - their Cuban and Reuben were both to die for. Get the mac’n’cheese as your side - you won’t forget it! Collin our waiter was an absolute pleasure to work with and had the best menu suggestions. 10/10 would eat here again.

My wife and I had been trying to get into this place for weeks, but every time we went the line was around the block and now I know exactly why. The ambience of the place is completely beautiful. It’s spacious and clean and just overall warming. They have a huge selection of coffees and even in house made juice. We went during the week and was able to get on without a wait. The staff was sweet and easy to get assistance from. My wife has the Lobster Daddy and I had the Hot Chicken Biscuit and we shared a Blueberry Pancake. The lobster was flavored nice and even had a little kick to it. The chicken was soft and tender and spicy 🌶️ but not too spicy. Like a perfect amount of spice. The biscuits were soft and browned to perfection and crumble. Now the main thing for me was the pancake. When I say this is the best pancake I have ever had in my life!!!!! I mean it. Soft, sweet, Buttery, slightly crunchy edges…. Literal perfection. And the butter they provide was nice and soft and even the syrup was blueberry syrup. This place has been added to my favorite brunch spots and I will definitely be returning soon and frequently!! Thank you guys for an amazing meal!!♥️

The food was delicious. The pancakes were so fluffy! The potatoes were well seasoned. I marked down the service one star because I was only asked once throughout my meal if I needed anything, which was nice for me but may be an issue for others depending on personal preference. There was a bit of a wait quoted, but it was faster than that. I would definitely come here again.

Got there right before they opened and people were lined up. The food was excellent. I got the vegan rancheros. The wait staff was friendly but a little slow. It was very busy so it was understandable. There were 4 of us and everyone loved their food. Check this place out!

The food was amazing, that fried lobster was everything. I gave service a four only because we initially had a party of four but a friend had to cancel last minute so they made us wait an additional 10 minutes for a new table and gave ours away. I was a little annoyed because we still had a party of three. I would definitely revisit though. They also have amazing juices!

This restaurant was recommended by another server from another restaurant so we decided to go. We were excited to try the restaurant due to the reviews from the server and the reviews that we read on Google. My husband I both ordered the shrimp and grits as that was the recommended dish to try because it had rave reviews. However, when we got the dish, it was bit of a let down. The gravy that was drench in the shrimp and grits ruined it for me. I didn't realize that it came with gravy otherwise I would've ordered it on the side. I'm giving it a 4 star because it has the potential to be a 5 star if it didn't have the gravy on it. Other than that, the ambience was inviting and the staff were friendly.

Best shrimp and grits I’ve had in my life!! It’s definitely worth it to add the crab legs. The drinks are amazing as well. We also had an order of the chai pancakes with their homemade chai butter and it was delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough!

All I can is wow! I started off with the lavender latte with their house made coconut milk. It was amazing and handcrafted with love. I’ve been vegan for 3 years and it’s rare I find pancakes I usually make my own. I’m not sure how they do it but they were so fluffy and huge. I also ordered the vegan rancheros. The bartender recommended it and the dish was full of flavor. All of ingredients come together very nicely and the corn tortilla gives it a good little crunch. The inside is adorable. I’ll have to come back when it’s warmer to sit on the patio. The host greeted me with a big smile and she was very sweet. I sat at the bar and the two gentlemen were on it. They were very busy yet still found a way to be very attentive. I never had to ask for a water refill, my glass stayed full. If I lived here I would be here at least once a week! Everything was superb down to my ice water. If you are in New Orleans you must check it out. (I visited the CBD location).

We found Bearcat Cafe via Instagram and decided to give it a try and let me tell you we were not disappointed at all! First we tried the Uptown location which has a little outdoor patio spot to enjoy eating outside (which we live for). We ordered the Bearcat breakfast which has now become our usual because it is just so good and I love the grits too! So yummy! Our server Trai was so awesome! He got to talking to us and in telling him how much we enjoyed being outside he told us to check out Bearcat's other location which is in the CBD because they have a larger outdoor area that he knew we would love. A few weeks later we returned to the Uptown location, had a different server, but Trai came up to our table and remembered speaking with us prior and little details that we were really surprised by! If you ever go here, ask for him! He truly is the best! The following week, we took his advice on trying out the CBD location and he was right! We LOVED the outdoor area and our server Moira was just as awesome as he is! Ask for her too! I don't know where Bearcat finds these servers but they are just great! So welcoming and attentive! Moira recommended that we try the donut of the day which was a Churro donut and OMG it was delicious, I honestly could've ate three if I allowed myself! I know this review is long but if you take anything from it, let it be that Bearcat Cafe (both locations) is a GREAT place to enjoy not only the food and the atmosphere but also the service! 10/10 would recommend!

This cute cafe is a great place to go for brunch after a long night out. It has wholesome and filling meals. They have great vegan options that are very tasty. The food was all quite salty for my liking, but the sauces and texture of the food was great. The London Fog here could have used a bit more of tea powder for flavor, nevertheless it was good.

Totally worth the wait. We waited for about an hour to be seated, another twenty to get menus, and another forty to get our food. We expected to wait, and we came at peak time, so no complaints here. Apparently the wait is a common thing, so they’ve got some unique signage to address it. Once we got our food, it became clear why the lines and the wait. Everything was 10/10. Crawfish gravy biscuit was incredible, potatoes were some of the best ever, and the hot chicken sandwich was a knockout. All the juices and coffees were fantastic as well. This place is special. Just pack a snack for the wait; and everything will be fine.

Fun little brunch spot. Food was good, but I think I was expecting more after all the hype I had seen on Instagram. Definitely wasn't the best spot we visited during our trip, but I would for sure visit again. Great spot for those of us in a divided household. I was able to enjoy great vegan and vegetarian dishes without my husband having to give up his meat options.

  • 5/5 Rachel S. 1 year ago on Google
Love this place. The food is so delicious and it's always hard for me to choose from all of the amazing options. Which also makes it great for a group - everyone will find something they like. The wait policy is a drag - no reservations, long line and the kicker, your whole party has to be there to get on the list. But if you can get there early, it's not too bad.

  • 5/5 Emily G. 3 years ago on Google
I had a wonderful lunch here. They have indoor & outdoor seating with a really cool aesthetic. The menu has vegan & meat options. We tried the street corn for an app & it was great! I had the scalloped mushrooms & my friend had a sandwich. Both were delicious!! I got a chai tea to go and a strawberry lemonade from the cooler. Both were fresh & tasty. I can’t wait to go back!

This place was AMAZING in good but be prepared to wait A LONG FREAKING TIME for a table. It doesn’t matter what day, you’re gonna wait longer than 30 minutes. We waited an hour fifteen…, hence the four stars versus five. BUT, the food was well worth the wait. Especially if you’re gluten and dairy free. There are tons of options, the cave breakfast was my favorite.

  • 5/5 Isabella G. 9 months ago on Google
Excellent breakfast spot, well worth the wait. The bison sausage is uniquely delicious. The blueberry pancake was what pancake dreams are made of 🤌🏼 The brisket hash was perfectly seasoned and the sourdough breakfast sandwich with avocado 🥑 and roasted tomatoes 🍅 was delicious and light though plenty filling. 10/10 will be returning and highly recommend

Ordered the vegan bearcat and a pancake (regular). So yummy! Def worth the visit. Worth noting that the food was a little too salty. I wasn’t a fan of the vegan sausage that came with the meal either. The pancake melted in my mouth — so good. And the staff was super friendly! If you drink, try the milk punch and/or the raffle sallow cocktail. Both drinks are very good.

Wonderful spot for breakfast or brunch! Service and atmosphere were great! I loved the open kitchen and decor. The breakfast potatoes were awesome; perfectly crispy outside and creamy inside. I usually dip breakfast potatoes in ketchup but these were so well seasoned they didn't need anything extra. The drip coffee was also pretty good. The only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars from me is because the main course I ordered (Mama Cat Biscuit) was honestly hard to enjoy. All of the components were great and would've worked well together, but unfortunately it was DROWNED in hotsauce. The vinegar taste overpowered everything on the plate. I ordered this dish because it heavily featured crab, but all the flavor was lost. All I could taste while eating and afterwards was the vinegar in the hotsauce, every other component of the dish might as well have not existed. I think if the chef played around with the ratio of sauce the dish would be a hit.

Yall! Let me tell yall something about this place. From the vegan dishes, to the pancakes, to the fried chicken, everything is DELICIOUS. My fiance who was skeptical at first because they offer vegan dishes even loved it! So much in fact he wants to go there for his birthday now. The food is ok. The prices are high. Eggs with crab was $16. That's probably 80% food cost!

Loved this place. Had quite the wait but glad we stayed. Staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing!! I had the Brisket Hash and I was not disappointed. The gem of my meal was the pancakes. Breakfast and dessert all in one. They taste like a mix between pancakes and beignets. Definitely recommend!! Overall great place however some of their items are a bit expensive. Plus they have this weird 4% charge they add to your bill and if you are with a party larger than 4 they add in 20% gratuity automatically. Staff was really nice so not mad about the gratuity but if your going with a larger group it can add up fast.

Refuses to allow reservations and then takes names when you arrive and then you wait an hour or so to not get a call about an available table. They need better training/options for front of house as far as being able to make reservations because this is crazy.

Visited on Sunday October 4th for the 2nd (3rd?) time. Every time has been outstanding. So much goodness to choose from. Matcha lattes are great, the mocha is wow. Potatoes are always great. Bacon, yum! Great Service. Gluten free pancakes, great vegan selection too. Usually a wait but worth it!

All the food is cooked to order! The cooks are talented I was able to watch the entire process at the bar. Request Trey he’s a great waitress. He gave us some bomb recommendations to try. He even recommended this meal we chose and it was so freaking yummy. I picked this place to eat at for brunch and was unsure but once arrived I had no doubt I chose good. You must try this place and I forgot to mention it’s a total vibe. They play hip hop music.

Sunday brunch, started off with the creole crab dish which was sooo good. Then since I eat a lot I got two entrees, the brisket hash and the Cajun gravy biscuit. The picture of the hash is kind of deceiving and even surprised me while eating it. As you can see you have your breakfast potatoes and your egg in the hole, but what you don’t see is underneath that is gravy and some kind of meat (I guess what they’re calling brisket, not what I’d call it though). It was very good once I realized the combination of everything on the plate, it was very savory and paired well. The Cajun gravy biscuit was great as well, my complaints being it’s a single biscuit cut in half (I hate when you get a single biscuit with “biscuits and gravy” and the bottom half of the biscuit was kind of hard also. We arrived around 2 (they close at 3) and were put on the list. Once they called us they gave the choice of sitting outside or at the bar, so we chose outside since it was nice and overcast the whole 30 mins we waited. That was a mistake!! If you’re given the choice SIT INSIDE!!!! The sun came out of no where and made the last part of our meal unpleasant, we couldn’t wait to get the check. Price on all of my food: Creole crab dip $17 Brisket hash $12 Cajun gravy biscuit $12 I’ll definitely be back again, but definitely would not recommend sitting outside.

Bearcat never disappoints. We started with the fresh ricotta and honey with lavish. It was light and delicious. We then split the breakfast potatoes with poached eggs; perfectly cooked. Super flavorful. My friend got the blueberry pancakes and they were phenomenal. I got regular pancakes and they were great.

Bearcat is a must have experience when you visit the crescent city. The location is full of unique eateries and shops along the neighborhood. The food here is beyond delicious, and the pricing is even better. We enjoyed the staff and the ease of menu options during our visit. Do yourself a favor and experience this restaurant in person.
