Traveling from NYC, but have been in Madrid a 100 times. Always looking for non-touristy local food. Food quality is excellent. Wine is top level (even by the glass). Service was perfect. Cannelloni dish was under-seasoned, and pulpo was inconsistent - half pieces tender, half too chewy. I told them, and I’m sure it’s easily correctable by this talented chef.

Our last meal in Madrid and it was glorious. Good food, good wine, great service. Food - The mackerel was the highlight of the night. It was buttery soft and well seasoned, it unlike most mackerel which tend to be dry and on the hard side - My second favourite dish would be the leek confit. It was cooked to the right softness to be paired with the nutty sauce Service - the Chef introduced the menu, took our orders and recommended some great wine to paired it with our food - both white wine was divine and the red was big and yummy Environment - We sat next to the window and it was perfect. You can get a glimpse of the natural sunlight and people watch - the interior was tastefully decorated, it was warm and homely

Fantastic little restaurant - I had been meaning to go to it for ages because of the reviews and given it is convenient for me and so was very hyped about it before going. Thankfully it did not disappoint and exceeded expectations. Put simply at Moratin they offer fresh, interesting well cooked food, an extensive, well-curated and affordable wine list. All of the above provided with excellent, friendly service in a relaxed but formal tranquil setting. There were 3 of us and we shared each dish to maximise the deliciousness. With the exception of the desserts, nothing disappointed. I would recommend the following dishes: puerros (leeks), steak tartar (this was delicious and a sizeable portion to share) and a seared tuna from the north of Spain - this was a special of the day. There were some really interesting flavours on show, made with flair and showcasing high quality fresh ingredients. I do have to mention that the desserts were nice, but nothing spectacular. I'm still yet to be wow-ed by a dessert here in Spain. Seriously great wine list too - we went for the Louro Godello and the Lalama from Ribiera Sacra. Both delicious and well priced - we even had a second bottle of the Louro it was so good. Great restaurant and I'll definitely be back soon.

Our neighbor in Los Angeles recommended this gem before our trip to Madrid. The restaurant updates their menu very frequently and we had a beautiful three course meal. Each plate was delicate, interesting and executed with culinary perfection! The owner is a lovely man who was able to accommodate us and give us other recommendations for true authentic Spanish cuisine!

This restaurant is excellent. Really good food and the service is excellent. We speak a little Spanish but didn't need it here. The staff was extremely helpful with wine selection and food recommendations. Make sure you make a reservation which you can do online.

Wonderful experience in this tiny vinoteca. The food was great, the wine pairing was perfect, a really cozy environment and the staff was just superb. Will certainly come back next time and recommend to everyone.

While visiting Madrid, I came across Moratin's as a recommendation from my Airbnb host. Since I was unable to call and reserve per the instructions of their website (UK phone number issue), I emailed the restaurant and Marcos gladly accommodated my reservation request. At the start of the evening, I was warmly greeted at the door and shown to my table. The atmosphere was charming and intimate. To my surprise, many of the menu items were available to order in half-portions if you wanted more of a sampling than a full meal. I really admire this flexible option as it has the potential to decrease food waste and overeating, yet providing the possibility to try other dishes. The service was really good, though I do have one complaint. When asked about my wine preference, one of the servers told me they would bring me an option to try. The wine never came, which I assume was an honest oversight. Regarding the meal, I had the Spoon (soup) of the day, the Santoña octopus with paprika oil and cilantro about potato parmentier, marinated salmon at home with pickle vinaigrette, and the cod confit on vegetable escalibada. My favorite dish was the soup and my least favorite was the cod confit (it gave me quite the stomach ache). Overall, I thought the food was just okay, but I wasn't too impressed. Though I give the food a lower rating, I applaud the atmosphere, culture, flexibility, and the warmth/friendliness of the staff at Moratin's. I'd be happy to dine here again to try some of the other dishes and to hopefully get a more comprehensive dining experience.

Last week was my fourth time over there since 2016 and I live in the USA. So, one may say what’s so different about the menu. Well it’s the amazing taste, and when you speak to the chef/ owner Marcos you can understand how meticulous the food preparation process is. We’ll be back.

One of the finest meals I have ever eaten. Fabulous food, service and setting. Hard to put in to words how well the menu is meticulously curated.

Amazing food. Highly recommend the leek confit. The white tuna fish of the day was fantastic. Service was impeccable. I’d highly recommend a reservation—we arrived right as they opened without a reservation and they were very gracious in accommodating us but I saw several after us who didn’t have reservations get turned away. All in all, a highlight of our time in Madrid.

Each dish is thoughtfully constructed and presented, the setting is charming, and the staff is incredibly pleasant. One of our favorite meals throughout our time in Spain, and a location we will return to again and again. Highly recommended!

Wonderful experience. Amazing service, great food and wine. The catch of the day was beautifully cooked to perfection, and the tomato soup was sheer delight in every mouthful. 100% will return if I’m back in Madrid!

Well composed food accompanied by a selection of great wines. Fantastic service; much thanks to the discrete communication and fine tuned team work between chef, sommelier and waiter – securing attention to our preferences. A lovely evening with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

fabulous restaurant. passionate chef and staff. Favorite meal of Madrid. I would say to plan on having a reservation. They don’t flip tables or rush you; they turned away quite a few walk ins. I can see why they’re fully booked. Service and food can’t be beat. I thought the portions, quality of product and preparation deserved their gourmand rating for sure. The leeks are a must order.

Ok people. If you are in Madrid for pleasure, business or just a long layover with enough time, this restaurant is a must eat at destination. The food is, as they say, to die for. Chef Marco's place is up there with some of the best restaurants in New York City and New Orleans, where my wife and I are from. Several languages are spoken but the staff was very accommodating when we asked them to indulge us to practice our Spanish. The customer service is outstanding as is the ambiance. Go and enjoy.

Everything tasted great...the canelones were our favorite, but we also enjoyed the salmon and the leeks. Stayed for dessert - the cheese cake was so good. Very quiet (a bit awkward) in the back room for an 8:30/9pm reservation on a Tuesday night.

Excellent products. The chef described all the menu in a spontaneous way in english espagnol or french. The service is really good, waiter takes care, they keep eyes on you in case. The wine is crazy tasteful and the price really correct.

Good~.~ tomato soup was really good and salmon was just salmon... if you are a traveler you need not try it unless your home country has no salmon ... chicken was good they asked if I wanted wine and I asked for sweet wine and the waiter gave me the sweet white wine it was good... wish i had tried octopus instead of salmon

😐 It is an experience, I have mixed feeling about it. The salad and the mayo don't know. It looks like they were in a hurry. I Don't recommend eating here It's not a good experience
