During my visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, I had to stop over and behold this beautiful edifice. The Shehu of Borno Palace is the Ancestral Home of the People of Borno, and home to the Traditional Ruler of the State. Quite wonderful structure and architecture. Beside it is the Maiduguri Central Mosque, a place of worship for the Muslim population. The environment here is serene but full of life during festivals like the Eid Mubarak which I was present.

It is the most visited place in Borno state as it is the base of cultural and traditional norms in the state.

The Palace is highly appealing,accommodating and down to earth showcasing cultural background of kanem Borno traditional outfit.

There are no tickets to be bought. It also doubles the Durbar Square during Eid festivals.

The shehu palace is a wonderful place with a historical building and a conducive atmosphere . The kingdom was established since before the coming of colonial masters. The Borno empire was among the strongest dynasty in Africa.

This is place of high traditional ruling heritage.
