A beautiful stopover with beautiful views. It was nice and quiet when we passed through and is well worth it. You can have a picnic or just a quick pass over

Beautiful view. Support the locals by buying their clay art

Awesome views of the dam from the view point. I visited during the dry months, I reckon the vegetation would be much lusher and green in Summer. It was well worth the visit, nonetheless.

Very scenic views. Pity there doesn't seem to be any lodges on the dam. Plenty of potential for ecotourism with the Amphitheater close by

Stunning view. There is a picnic table as well to sit at.

The view is beautiful. It would have been great to get out of my car to appreciate it more. Unfortunately informal traders have taken over the space and we did not feel safe there. We were the only vehicle there with about 10 informal traders. We did not even let the windows down as they get very insistent when they think you might be interested.

View is great but the viewing point itself isn't maintained. You can't sit and enjoy it. Gravel road.

This was just a pass by but the views are to die for. We had to stop and take a deep view at such a beautiful creation. We also got some nice art crafts from the local guys selling in the viewing spot.

It's very windy this place and the wind is so strong it can push you if you are not careful. Doesn't seem safe to stop when you're alone though

Lovely viewing point with great views of the dam. The picnic tables and chairs weren’t very clean however still a great spot to stop for the views

Sterkfontein Nature Reserve which is a protected area by the Free State local government is a place you can see beautiful wild life, among the antelopes on the nature reserve is Zebra, Springbok, Redhartebeest. there are also small predators like the Jackal and Genet. The are reasonably priced accommodation on site, which includes camping and chalets options. The view of the Lake is indeed spectacular as there is a mountain range in the horizon which gives the environment a tranquil feel.

The view is what it is. Beautiful! The picnic benches and grass are a bit out of touch. Yet, who sits on these nowadays anyway. So go for it and enjoy

Spectacular view of the dam surrounded by the breath taking Ukhahlamba drakensberg mountain range. Animal souvenirs are sold by locals. A Few picnic tables. Safe for kids. Definitely a rewarding stop!

Pictures don't do justice to the shades of blue that one sees at the Dam. Serene site. There is a nice gentleman who makes sculptures from cement and clay. Quite unique

a wOw side, nature at its best with great view of the dam

It is what it says it is ....a view point! Curio sellers happy to badger you to buy their wares, which to be honest are rather well made! All the usual african animals made of clay and hand painted on site. The dam of course speaks for itself in view of its sheer size....what an imposing sight!
