Really well equipped rooms, with a functioning kitchen and utility area. The main lounge area in the suite was quite large, but also made it feel a little empty. Plenty of heaters in the suite, and windows open for ventilation (stayed in April). Bedrooms were comfortable. Bathroom standard shower over the bath etc.

We stayed in a Whitworth Suite which said sleeps up to 3 people but there was only 1 double bed. As I was staying with a friend I needed an extra bed which cost extra £35 which I thought was a bit steep. It brought the room to £146 altogether. However, the rooms are quite delightful. The decor is really unique & I loved the muted colours - so much, in fact that I am copying the look for my bedroom! 🤣 It's a very typical Manchester building with a view over the canal - all red brick & Victorian. Very close to Canal Street, Deansgate, Manchester Art Gallery. It's a beautiful building, extremely clean& very welcoming young & helpful staff!!! ❤️❤️ There is a mini-kitchen with dish-washer, 2 ring hob, fridge & even a cocktail making kit! X

This location is one of three Locke aparthotels we have stayed in during our trip. Below are some issues we had. -no AC. The provided fan was way too loud to use at night, even in the lowest setting. -we could open the windows but there were no screens to protect against bugs. -lighting. The bed area was still too dim even with all the lights on. I had to use my phone flashlight to use the outlet underneath the small ‘shelf nightstand.’ -the cobbled flooring in the reception area. It was difficult to drag our suitcases. -the maze like way to get to our room. Lots of turns and doors to open. It was helpful that they had a washer/dryer. Overall, we generally liked our stay and are planning on staying in one of their London locations.

Had a short stay here for a couple of nights and was extremely happy. The staff were amazing. As a nice surprise I was given a free breakfast voucher and in addition discounts are available at the restaurants and coffee shop downstairs. The room was lovely. It was very clean, spacious and a great place to relax. The location was perfect for me. It's walking distance to the main train station and to the city so didn't really need to use public transport although this is easily accessed near the hotel. Would recommend to anyone visiting Manchester.

Stayed for one night whilst in Manchester seeing a show at Etihad Stadium. The hotel is modern with lovely fresh decor. Room was small but fab with a fully equipped kitchen area very clean and comfortable for our one night stay. All staff were also great and friendly.

I really enjoyed my short stay at Whitworth Locke. The rooms are so clean and pristine. The staff were warm and friendly. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to stay in the heart of Manchester

My girlfriend and I had such a nice stay at Whitworth Locke. The staff were so friendly upon arrival, there are lots of food and drink options within the building, and the rooms are enormous! I couldn't believe how big the room was for the price we paid (it even came with a full kitchen!). The location is within close proximity to almost everything in Manchester. I would without doubt stay here again if I ever come back to Manchester.

I highly recommend that everyone visiting Manchester stay at Whitworth Locke. The apartments are clean, comfortable and you have everything you need. The location is top-notch. Also, at the property there is a great bar and an amazing restaurant. Everybody working there is extremely friendly and competent. In particular, I would like to mention Andrej, Luca, William and the night shift receptionists Lewis, Andy, Nour, Mike; they made me feel like at home since the day I got there. Even the security guy is nice to chat with! I would definitely stay at the same place if I happen to visit Manchester in the future. Thank you!

What more could you want in a hotel - intimate setting but has everything you could possibly need. Location was amazing, rooms were beyond comfortable, and the anesthetic was on point. This was my first time staying at this boutique chain, and I'll definitely look them up when I'm in other cities with this hotel.

My family and I had a wonderful homey stay at Whitworth locke, such a surprise to have a warm welcome from the staff - and special thanks to our host, Alana. Alana has been very social and helpful during our nearly three-week stay, all concerns and needs were very well handled and sorted out. And I didn’t have to worry about anything for our long stay since a well-equipped kitchen and functional laundry machine were included. I can’t express my gratitude that the hotel arranged a spacious room that fits all of our luggages - hardly any hotel can do that. I would recommend living in Whitworth Locke for both short or lengthy stay when visiting Manchester and for those hoping to live in close proximity of the vibrant city center and ChinaTown. P.S. I really love how stylish and green the hotel is, worth every penny to live in the innovative hotel which was once a historic cotton warehouse.

Quirky hotel with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely one of the trendier, cooler hotels in Manchester. Huge push towards being eco-friendly - which is amazing. Great value for money.

We love it here!! Me and my partner came here for our 3 year anniversary and it was our second visit to this hotel, cannot fault it whatsoever. Alana on reception was lovely and chatty and incredibly helpful! The rooms are spacious, modern, exceptionally clean and have everything you could possibly need.

Checked in at 1am and was greeted by Lewis who was extremely professional and friendly and made me feel super welcome - you’re a star! The rooms are amazing, really clean and spacious, really comfortable beds and so quiet given its city centre location. This hotel feels extremely safe and friendly especially as a solo traveller :-)

I booked a room over pride weekend in August and I can honestly say it was just lovely! From the building to the room I just didn't expect it to be so lovely and comfortable. The service from all the staff from the bar staff to reception. I was met on reception by a lovely girl named grace who went out of her way to help with our bags and and general places to visit. Great experience and would 100% recommend and come back! It's so nice to go somewhere and know you will come back because of the lovely service you receive! Refreshing!!!

Thank you, Google, for kindly inviting me to review this hotel, which I'm guessing is in Manchester. I might be wrong. They provided me with a beautiful room with views of the London Eye. The food was delicious and not overpriced. I especially liked pie night, such a range of beautiful pies from all over the world. Fab. Highly recommend, especially if you happen to know the location of this fine hotel. Use Google maps or you could also just wander around aimlessly and find this top class hotel.

I stayed here for 2 months recently and really loved it. I stayed in one of the one bedroom rooms facing Whitworth, so it was fun to people watch and work on the window sill (I do remote psychotherapy). The bar downstairs is a blessing and if you want to eat or just have coffee they have a South American restaraunt and a coffee house as well as Co working spaces, a gym, my room had a washer and dryer combo, and dishwasher and kitchen. It really was a home sway from home. Everyone working there is awesome at whatever you interact with them for. A great bunch of people. Oh yeah also free yoga classes and mats in each room lol.

This is the second Locke property I've stayed in, and just as nice as the first! I booked in one of the smaller city studios, which was still extremely spacious for a short stay (I think the only thing they're missing is a sofa compared to the others) and very comfortable. Great bathroom and bed, well-equipped kitchen, and enough space to sit and work/eat/relax. Easily walkable to both stations and most Manchester attractions, whilst still feeling very peaceful inside. As a solo traveller it also felt very safe, and staff were all really friendly and helpful too. I couldn't fault my stay.

The concept of repurposing the building is beautiful and original, also very much needed in this location. The place has a lovely busy and entrepreneurial feel with a young inspiring crowd. I really appreciated the detail of having a Yoga mat in the room and the helpful disposition of the staff, specially Lucy and Grace went the extra mile to make my work trip successful.

The service I have received from Lewis and Nour has been exceptional. They were warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. I have stayed in a fair few hotels and have not received such excellent service in a long time, they are truly a credit to the company. I look forward to future stays here.

I stayed for 3 nights with my sister in July 2023. We had an EXCELLENT experience. The online customer service was so helpful before we even arrived. The front desk service was excellent and so helpful. The room itself was gorgeous. Bed, super comfy. Kitchen had everything we needed, including a dishwasher and laundry. Dish soap and laundry soap were also included! Bathroom was clean and had an excellent shower. The location was near to the train stations and within easy walking distance to many sites and restaurants. Manchester is a very interesting city and I would absolutely stay at Whitworth Locke again.

Great location. Staff were amazing. The facilities in the rooms were great very spacious and bed was comfortable. Only negative is the lighting is a little dim although plenty of singular lights in the room they weren't the best.

The hotel's initial impression is good, but reality falls short of the website's photos. Despite the prime location, just a minute from the gay area, the overall experience wasn't up to par. While the room was clean, the promised king-size bed turned out to be more of a disappointment, not even reaching queen size. The restaurant service was subpar, with an hour's wait for what can only be described as the worst English breakfast I've ever had – and it's hard to mess that up. The Bloody Marys were equally disappointing, lacking presentation and flavor. The check-in at 4 pm and checkout at 11 am, unlike the usual 3 pm and 12 am in other hotels, felt inconvenient. A frustrating incident occurred when we tried to get an umbrella from the room because it was raining, and a friend couldn't join us briefly – a rule that seemed utterly ridiculous. The rooms were excessively dark, nearly forcing me to use my phone's torch to find belongings. Though the nightly rate of £200 isn't terrible, the overall experience fell far below expectations. I'd consider a return if the cost were halved.

I stayed at the hotel on the 15th of October for one night. I was greeted by an amazing team of young ladies in reception who were some of the most outstanding members of staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Lucy absolutely astonished me with her level of detail while taking care of my booking. My partner and I sat at the bar for quite a few hours and were served amazing cocktails all evening. Some classic and some created by the staff. As a General manager for a bar myself, I was blown away by them all evening. Amazing evening from all aspects of your hospitality.

It's only my second day here and so far it's been lovely. Our room is quite big, very stylish and fully fitted with every appliance you would need for a longer stay. We were also offered an apartment with a bathtub instead of a shower, as we requested. Reception staff was very friendly as well. I have no complaints so far, other than the lack of AC, but that is to be expected in a British hotel. Overall, Whitworth Locke offers a good luxury experience for a decent price.

  • 3/5 Ka Wui L. 1 year ago on Google
The location is great, near the bar district and China town for good food and drinks. Furniture are comfortable and useful with style. Washing machine inside the room is handy. Bathroom has large face washing basin and shower similar to hotels in Spain. Lighting is not adequate at night. Reception located behind bar table is very confusing for checking in. The cobble stone paved lobby does not help heavy luggage and wheelchairs either. Rooms lack air conditioning, the building is next to a canal, the room will be very damp and uncomfortable in summer if windows are opened. Hardly any sleep in hot summer days. Beds are small, each single bed in twin beds configuration are smaller than average single bed.

Rarely have we been so positively surprised by a hotel as we were at Whitworth Locke. The building is classy and stylish, the amenities and restaurants are excellent and the apartments make you really feel at home. Not only was everything clean and quiet at night, you also have a full grown kitchen, a bedroom and a living room all for yourself. Special thanks go out to our clerks Dean, Andy and Mikepike, who were too kind to us and definitely made this visit worthwhile! :) Next time in Manchester we will return for sure!

I stayed for work the rooms were cute and a great location if heading out for the night and in walking distance of my office. I used the gym in the morning which was a great feature with all the equipment you would need and a great soundtrack to get you moving.

  • 4/5 Beatriz Pastrana M. 2 years ago on Google
This place does suffer a little from style over substance. The staff were so busy being impressed with themselves that they checked us into someone else’s room… a bit awkward. However they were quick to fix it. The rooms are beautiful, the space is fun and well equipped. The sound proofing isn’t great and the hot water only allows for 10 minute showers… not sure that’s aligned to their stylish price tag …

Beautiful place in a beautiful part of the city. Very friendly staff, great room amenities too. TV even has chrome cast if you fancy a lazy morning like we did! There is a bar and restaurant downstairs, as well as a gym. 24hr reception available too if needed. Definitely intend to stay again! Next to a beautiful canal too.

Our stay at Whitworth Locke did not disappoint. I was blown away by the beautiful building and interior design of the communal spaces and our room - it was like a boutique hotel but had a comfortable and quirky charm to it. My husband loved how close we were to the buzzing streets of Manchester and we also got some great tips from the wonderful man who checked us in about the best places to eat and explore. Whenever we next visit, this will be the place we book to stay at again.

We stayed at the Whitworth Locke hotel booked via Airbnb on the 9th of October from the Saturday to the Sunday. The lobby area is lovely, an easy check in and could check into our room a few hours earlier than the usual check in time. The room itself is done nicely, all amenities and a very trendy feel. The location was good, not too far to get into the centre. However there was a leak above the bathroom door which left a puddle on the floor overnight, and draining such as in the sink and the shower seemed very slow maybe some drainage issues? The room and hotel was nice but probably a little overpriced in our opinion. We also had breakfast in the coffee house inside the hotel, the food was average but very overpriced, £8.60 for a small bacon and spinach sandwich which arrived with no spinach. Probably not worth visiting. They do offer 50% off the car park just next to the hotel which is great for overnight parking.

My partner and I stayed at the Whitworth Locke for five days and Sanjay and the staff were very kind and attentive. The room was spacious--if a bit dark--and packed full of all kitchen items plus all the coffee, milk and sugar caffeine addicts like me need. The room accents were a lovely touch. I appreciated the 24-h gym. We will be staying here again. The staff at the front desk are exceptional in their customer service. I am awarding the hotel five stars, yet on one night (a Monday, if you can believe it) a party or reception of some kind with a DJ was thumping till 1 a.m. When we met with the reception staff about this--because we had been told that the busy bar right underneath our room would be instantly quiet at 11 p.m. (which it always was)--we were informed that the event was a private one held by the hotel's own manager or owner or someone with an intimate connection to the place, and lowering the volume or at least toning down the thumping bass was out of their control. I would like to inform the party host that your guests do not like to lie awake until 1 a.m. or they will cease to be future guests. In spite of this, all the extras, including the spacious room and the amenities and staff still rate our stay there with five stars.

Had a fab stay at this hip, centrally located, great value, apartment complex. It’s just 10 mins walk from Piccadilly station, literally across the road from Canal Street, and around 15 mins walk from the Arndale Centre. Staff were busy on arrival (about 3.45pm), so waited to check in for 5-10 mins, but they are exceptionally helpful, very friendly, and do go out of their way to orientate you on arrival. It’s worth noting that the Building has a very decent coffee shop, bar and Peruvian restaurant on site - lots of people co-working in the lobby during the day too, which was a good sign. There are QR codes for ordering and collecting from the coffee shop and restaurant in the room. There were a number of weekly events listed in the lobby such as yoga on Monday mornings, and I believe there is a gym and laundry room available (for those that don’t have a washing machine in their accommodation). I stayed in a one bed apartment, which had no air conditioning, but a tall standing electric fan was already in the bedroom on arrival and the windows in the bedroom and living area opened enough to let enough air flow in what were fairly moderate temperatures. The centre piece of the apartment was a superbly equipped sleek kitchen unit with full sized fridge (with small freezer section), Smeg hob and cooker, washing machine and dishwasher (both washing machine and dishwasher are behind cupboard doors). There were more than enough kitchen implements provided to cook and cater for a small civilised dinner party at the dinner table. Complimentary high end tea and coffee was appreciated. Smart TV enabled for casting and selected apps available to stream. Excellent reliable super fast private Wi-Fi too. Large sofa to laze on, although was a tad hard and I prefer something a bit more forgiving on my aching joints. Separate bedroom had a Queen sized bed, which was pretty comfortable, but there was slightly oddly not enough room for the wardrobe which was instead in the living area. The in room safe could only really be used by kneeling, but no matter. The dressing gowns provided were a nice touch. Bathroom was very spacious with lovely Amazon type overhead shower / bath combo. As you can see from the photos, the decor of the apartment is rather dominated by terracotta and similar tones, creating a rustic effect - not exactly my cup of tea (I would have preferred aqua based colours but I’m no interior designer) - and the view I had from the apartment was of the equally rustic nearby NCP Car Park, but these are really very minor quibbles which shouldn’t detract from an overall excellent stay I had, and even more so considering the price I paid over the 3 nights. I would absolutely recommend to anyone to stay here and would definitely stay again.

My first stay at the Whitworth Locke has been amazing. A perfect location, just a moment’s walk from Piccadilly train station. The front desk was extremely welcoming and conversational. Gorgeous interiors. Warm, inclusive atmosphere throughout the venue’s public areas. All together a top 5 *, definitely will reserve the studio again!

I've stayed here a few times now, and each time has been a delight. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the rooms are modern and comfortable, and the outside-but-inside bar area does some very enjoyable cocktails. Add to that its location just off Canal Street, and you've got a great hotel that's handy for most of what Manchester has to offer.

  • 5/5 BornSinner 1 year ago on Google
Recently stayed here as we had our works do in one of the rooms on the lower ground. Really good location, has everything nearby such as parking, shops, bars etc. Whitworth Locke has its own bar which is really nice as well. Not somewhere I would usually book myself, as I’m into more of a very modern style hotel but the rooms here had a really homely feel to them. The place was very clean and staff were extremely polite and friendly.

  • 4/5 Ben N. 1 year ago on Google
Fantastic location. Great cafe and restaurant on the premises and very welcoming staff. Also, the aparthotel style gives lots of options for, for example, cooking and dining in. The only problem for us was that there was a water tank in a locked cupboard in our room that made bubbling and flowing noises at random times for most of the night, so it wasn't as quiet as we'd like.

  • 5/5 Dom 1 year ago on Google
First time staying here and loved it. Big thanks to Sanjay for his warm welcome and patience in answering all the questions we had. The smell as you walk in is so nice! Room was great, loved the interiors, shower was good and nice choice of shampoo/shower gel etc, only slight criticism is that the lighting was a bit too dim, even with all the lights on, definitely designed for a more atmospheric feel than for usability. Would 100% stay again though without hesitation. Cheers.

I had a really great time staying here, definitely lived up to my hopes when I saw the photos! There are so many thoughtful little details that have gone into literally every element of your stay. In the room, there are explanations of why they chose specific tea and coffee products, clear information about things like checkout times, little magnets placed on devices to ensure the lights don't keep you up at night, and prices for things you might need/want during your stay. If you don't want your room cleaned every day, if you like well designed spaces, this place is for you. I wish I could've stayed longer and cooked in the kitchen! The people are lovely and totally upfront. There's no breakfast included but you can get a discount from the EXCELLENT coffee shop which is kinda merged with the co-working space, a place I'd happily work in any day of the week. They also advertise fun and free things happening in the area! The neighborhood is so cute too. I'm definitely coming back given the chance and this was a big part of how much I enjoyed Manchester.

Great hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly, the 1 bedroom apartment we stayed in was spacious and had everything we needed. It was also very dog friendly and the ability to pay a small fee for a later check out was great. Would definitely stay here again in future.

Loved the atmosphere when checking in. Music playing, a bar at reception - modern vibes. Very different! Staff were really friendly (shout out to Libby who was lovely and made us feel really welcome). The room itself had all the amenities and space that you'd need AND black out curtains! To top off, it was a stones throw of a walk round the corner to Canal Street although out of the way enough not to hear any noise at all at night. We will definitely be staying here again. 10/10

Stayed last night as attending a gig at The Academy. Really quirky, fab bar and great staff. Rooms funky and fully equipped with all amenities including rainshower, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Comfy bed. Kitchenette great if you're staying longer. Location central- great for shopping, gigs, exploring. Sweet little park just down the road. Will definitely stay again.
